Hi, this is not really a rant, but just more of a suggestion. This is the first mmo that I have played to where you all have so many unscheduled maintenance, or extensions of maintenance and offer the players nothing more than an apology. Some type of bonus or incentive would be nice, seeing that this is a reoccurring issue. Some people do not have unlimited time to spend waiting to play. Not that you all are not working hard to get people back in to the game. But honestly if I were to ever have this much down time in my profession some type of compensation would have to be offered. Just some suggestions. Bonus zen, discounted items, special event, etc. Something other than just a simple apology. Given the patience that the community has I think it would be a nice touch of curtsey. Or rather I should say patience the community has no choice but to produce. If you are sincere in your regret in having such untimely delays I think it would be more evident in your actions. That of which I must say seem to me MIA.

They usually also let people create complain threads. I mean they possible believe that if people have place where they can all complain about everything they will feel better and forget that game is off for x-th time.

I'd be happy just to not lose the 5 Celestial coins on my 7 characters because of their server problems. I'm not asking for much here, i don't need compensation just not to be SCREWED OVER like this.

You do realize that in the last year and a half this is the first time maintenance has gone beyond the originally estimated time?
I'm not seeing this as a big deal. If you worked on servers you would know how tempermental they are. I think it's more impressive that it hasn't happened before...

I don't think it's the very first time Ambi, but it's the only time I can recall where they were off by so many hours. Other overages on scheduled maintenances have been like 15 minutes or whatever. I think there may have been another emergency maintenance or two where they initially estimated 2 hours and ended up running to 3.

I don't recall them. I'll have to look into that but if you are right then, yeah, it wasn't a long period of time over the estimation. It was far more common for two hour maintenances to be turned into one hour.

You listed off a bunch of times the servers were taken down to resolve important issues...
I made no mention about those never occurring. In fact I am thankful for every single one of those occurrences and really see no merit in complaining about them...or this maintenance.
Going over estimated downtime is a bit more serious but even then...

LOL I was thinking same thing. I had a 'routine reboot' a couple of months ago on a clients system. Had to clear an error off the disk array that was deemed by the manufacturer to do be non critical. Rebooted the array and was faced with a 6 drive failure..... ya my 1 hour reboot turned into days of file restores.. fun times!
ok..servers came...yayyyy...i got on did my prayers....did one toons dailies..went to change toons and crashed...booooo...now launcher stuck on patching....not ok with this....

Oh really. How easy we forget. Maintenance at least one time in the last week was extended over an hour. Then we had the "emergency" maintenance to fix the Astral Resonator. Emergency maintenance to fix the Alchemist event. Need I continue?
The OP is right, it is not uncommon to offer some boon over the weekend as an apology for all this. Not to mention the servers are still really sluggish. It wouldn't kill them to offer say bonus RAD refinement this weekend or 2 hour DD or SOMETHING that says they sincerely are sorry.

Emergency maintenance is not extended maintenance.
Emergency maintenance is simply a second patch for the week.
I have absolutely no care to give towards complaints about a second maintenance being done in a week. In fact I would sooner commend the devs than to tell them to heed the pettiness in the complaints that issues are resolved sooner rather than later.
Funny, I was thinking of how stable this game has been compared to others. I've played Ultima Online, Everquest, Everquest 2, Vanguard, Dark Age Of Camelot, Asheron's Call, Guild Wars, Rift, Elder Scrolls Online, and World Of Warcraft off the top of my head.
All had way more problems than this one but yeah, I do remember getting compensation in lot of them when they had problems like this. WOW in particular I vividly remember getting double experience loads of times

Well, they did give us an event that if we buy a mount with money and take a picture with it, we can get a free mount...
This thread is pretty moot at this point and not really producing any productive discussion besides arguing over responsibilities. Since the server is now up, I'm closing this down.
