One adaption of 'Item Decay' might also be: Items are BoE, but decay while unbound, losing stats. This should be real time, but slow, and not 'ruin' the item. This should also be reversible via repair, with 'Gold', but each repair increases the Decay rate.
However, equipping the item would remove the decay factor, forever. But you would have to repair it up.
Roleplay-Handwave it away with 'The Magic is now attuned to the owner's life force, it feeds on it, not in a vampiric way, but it basically takes in the astral resonance the owner creates', whatever.

I agree all BoP should actually be BoA (unless you equip it, then it can be character-bound).

And please stop binding peridots from the prayer-coffer and companion experience tomes from the level-up rewards. There's just no point to it that I can see, other than force me to use up a bank slot. Which may be the point.

I have to seriously disagree with Zebular. One of the things that I dislike in games such as minecraft is that your gear is basically temporary. Get enough diamonds to make a pick? Fine, but I'll never use that pick except to mine obsidian because I don't want to lose it eventually. I HATE HATE HATE losing things I've earned. I shouldn't have to pay real money either. I like the BoA/ BoP system. Its much more fair.

That being said, I'd love to see everything be BoE. I think it'd be fun to be able to sell all drops that I don't need, even ones from end chests. But as soon as I equip it, it should be bound to me. We don't need hand me downs in this game. The drops are fairly easy to get, even if it does take a significant amount of time. And the ones that aren't easy to get, like the black ice main hand and such? Well, it makes it all the more special when you do equip one. There needs to be some items that separate players from others. Making people unique.

My vote, make everything BtABoE (bound to account instantly, bound to character on equip). I highly doubt they ever will, because they want you grinding through dungeons repeatedly...but would be cool for players.

In my opinion, do away with Binding except for Zen and Promotional items.

    1) Make all Zen and Promotional items Bind to Account.
    2) All other items in the game should not bind, allowing them to be sold or traded.

Alas, #2 would only be prudent if they bring in item decay, meaning over the course of its use, non-Bound items would suffer durability loss and eventual destruction if not repaired. Make each repair loose some durability so eventually, the more an item is repaired, the less "shelf-life" it will have.

Then, introduce a Zen items that will Bind any item to your Account and another cheaper one that Binds it to your Character -- which will remove durability, making it permanent, yet bound so it is no longer part of the economy.

I like this a great Idea.

I do not like the idea of item decay tbh. I avoid IWD because of it.

I want a case of whiskey, and a carton of cigarettes. Doesn't mean it's good for me.

Frankly, I can deal with whatever. BoP. BoE. BtA.
Just as long as the items are correctly labeled.
I have spent almost a thousand dollars to support this game so far, but unless Cryptic stops lying to me with in-accurate vendor text they are unlikely to get any more real money from me.
Oh, before any of you start calling me a 'wallet warrior' or some other name, let me state that I have never and probably will never do any PvP other than things like the water battle in the current summer festival.

The only thing that I hate more than binds is decay.

Most items that are BoP should be BoA until equipped. Once equipped they should be Bound to Character.

Other than that I have no qualms... Although personally I do prefer the no binds policy... However since people insist on complaining they have to do a dungeon more than a handful of times there is no hope for this type of system. If players complain about the giveaway easy drop rates we currently have there is no chance that they will be happy with the low drop rate RNG required for a no bind system.

Seriously... When I played WoW... that game has a far harsher RNG for end game loot than this game does. You also can't sell boss drops on the AH at all, so its either it drops for you and you win the roll against potentially up to 24 others, or you don't get it even if you have tons of money.

That's about the only thing I miss from wow, they did loot drops the right way.

I personally like both systems well enough. What I don't get is why people complain so much about Neverwinter's system. With the end chest you're guaranteed SOMETHING even if its not something you wanted. So you're guaranteed to come out ahead in some way.

With WoW it was possible to literally exit a fully cleared raid with nothing. Now I'm not bashing anything here, I like WoW's system and I like Neverwinter's. I think they are roughly equal in quality. But you gotta admit Neverwinter is a bit more forgiving.
