In DnD are Dragonborn allowed to wear helms?

I posted it as a bug, but after reading a bit here and there I wondered if the reason why helms don't show on Dragonborn is a lore reason. I figure Cryptic has to stick with lore-based design pretty strictly right?

I don't know the lore, but if you check 'Dragonborn Dungeons and Dragons' on google images, you will be hard pressed to find an image of one in a helm. The very few I did see, were less helms and more plated head-dress.

On a seperate note.. I wish there was a helm my dwarf could wear without his schnozz poking through the visor or his brow bursting through the helm itself. And then there is the back of the helm burrowing into his back and neck....

They can wear helms but the dragonborn don't wear them in NW from design. I forget where I read it but a dev has said they disabled it as there was no way to get the existing models to go onto dragonborn heads.

Which makes sense in that regard. Because thier heads are in no way humanoid enough to fit said helms.

And us short stocky dudes with big noses and heavy brow are s.o.l. too. haha

(Wouldn't really care, except I liked the Thayan GF armor but the throat guard didn't work with the beard, a helm would have fixed that but couldn't find one that didn't clip so bad that it looked comical. So I transmuted to some low level armor I thought looked pretty cool.)

I figured that's why they added the armor transmutes - can't you reclaim them over and over as needed?

Lore-speak; The only thing preventing Dragonborn from wearing any headgear is being able to fit into it. Naturally, dragonborn headgear would be more common in their homeland of Tymanther and Abier from whence they came, yet because of their heads already being "helmed" with natural dragonkin bone, most do not desire or have a need for headgear in daily life. Instead, they wear piecemeal and adornments. Dragonborn helmets would be of a rarity in most of Toril, save for Tymanther and possibly other Abier-Returned places, as such would not have existed over a hundred years ago, before the Dragonborn entered into Toril from Abeir.

Game-speak; We do see headgear in Neverwinter Online for dragonborn as both helmet form and piecemeal form. It is apparent from these that they were first designed to fit dragonborn heads, where-as the rest of the helmets we have had up to now have been created for more human-like heads.

You can find images of "Dragonborn" in helms. Use "Draconians of Krynn" or Dragonlance Draconians" as the search phrase. A few will pop up.
