Enchantment use

I need to work on my main toon. I have all R5 and lesser weapon/armor stones. Artifacts are blue. I have some AD to spare and am grinding to get more enchantments but it seems like a bottomless pit to fill all the slots.
What slots would you upgrade first to see a difference soonest. I only do Pve campaigns and will go back to DD when that matter is working.
Any of you great people have comments on your feelings?

    I suggest upgrading your weapon enchant. That provides the most bang for your AD. Eventually you'll want to upgrade your 5s, but for current and mod 4 endgame content they're perfectly fine. I ran my toons for the longest time with rank 3s and 4s.

    You didn't mention your class but I agree with @onecoolscatcat - weapon enchant then armor then the rest based on your class. Having said that, power enchants (Radiant) are usually my first upgrade from R5 followed by Azure then Dark.

    If you can afford it buy R7s to replace your R5s.

    What class are you and what is your weapon enchant?

    Note that with the wild and wacky nature of the AH recently recently due to err, bunnies, it can frequently be cheaper to buy higher end enchantments than make them.....

    One piece of advice though is to get a lesser plaguefire as your very first weapon enchant. It is (relatively) cheap, does decent damage and provides a nice debuff for the party. After that build up your endgame weapon enchant.

    For my two cents, I suggest you not worry about weapon and armor enchantments until you have at least your Tier 1 armor set. In terms of expense, weapon and armor enchantments provide -- by far -- the least benefit of any gear investment. A good armor set bonus will be vastly more useful than all but a few perfect weapon and armor enchantments. Armor sets can be free; perfect enchantments run to the tens of millions of astral diamonds.

    You'll gain far more benefit, at a vastly lower price, from upgrading your normal enchantments to Rank 6. If you've not yet acquired an augmentation companion such as a cat or ioun stone, that is the single most efficient astral diamond investment you can make in your character. No perfect weapon enchantment can compete even remotely with the over 2,000 in additional statistics (near 3,000 with the best gear and gems) that an augmentation companion can provide to your character.

    That said, if you can afford a lesser weapon enchant that benefits the entire party, such as plaguefire or terror, that will prove useful to your group and aid somewhat in successful dungeon runs. A lesser soulforged armor enchantment is well worth the investment, if you can afford one. But no weapon or armor enchantment is worth bankrupting yourself, and for the most part, should be close to the last item you add to your build, not the first.

    There is really no need for most (PvE) players to upgrade their armor enchant from a Lesser Soulforged. That would be my absolute last priority.

    I'm pretty much in your same shoes as a CW. Most of my enchants are rank 5's, been bumping my radiant's into 6. This is what I've been doing.

    I've been dumping all my runestones into my weapon enchant (lesser plaguefire). I only need to use my augment pet, I haven't used a combat companion since I got the stone, besides for companion leveling purposes. Then I put points into my offensive radiant enchants, both rank 5-6. All the others go into my weapon enchant again. Once my weapon enchant is ready to upgrade, I'll spread whatever enchants I get into the other rank 5's that weren't a priority. Rinse and repeat.

    My body enchant is a lesser soulforged and I also find that the least of my priorities. Even at lesser for PvE, it does it's job and with a pot, it brings me back to the safe zone.

    ok, lots of great advice. looking at a CW right now, I was thinking of a lesser terror to start (only will cost a coal) Was told to add ARmPen until ... right now power is 3.4k and ArPen 1.3k. rest is mix of AH and campaign gear, almost 12k GS. Lots of work to do but fun work ;|

    As you are "PvE-only", you do not "need" to worry as much about enchants as PvE players which are basically competing against each other all the time.

    I assume you have a GS in the 10.000-12.000 range, but do not just focus on the GS ... not all stats are created equal, and depending on your class and play style, you should focus much more on some than others. Now, to improve your character, you have several options:

    1) Improve your gear: armor, weapons and accessories - not just to get the highest GS, but to get the best combination of stats for your class and play style. Depending on your class and play style a particular T1/T2/T2.5 set might be the "best" one for you - in which case you should aim for that.

    2) Improve your enchants - going from R5 to R6 is relatively cheap, and can be done just with stuff you pick up as you go - in particular if you finish Sharandar and start using the Fey blessing enchants.

    3) Get an augment companion (cat/stone) if you don't have one already. Depending on your class you might or might not want to use it when soloing, but it is almost a must for group content.

    4) Get other companions and improve their quality - if you find you really need some particular stats, it might be worthwhile to upgrade a stat-boosting companion to blue (or even purple).

    5) Improve your artifacts.

    6) Improve your weapon/armor enchants - I am listing this last, as it might (again, depending on your class and play style) be the lest important...or t not. For example, if you are using soulforged, a lesser will do very nicely - the additional benefit of gaving a regular or greater is much smaller than the difference between having a lesser and having none. Weapon enchants, on the other hand - it depends on your class and play style how important they are. I need more information.

    7) Play differently. What I mean is - make sure you are using the most efficient powers appropriate to each set of circumstances. Once again, depending on your class and play style, you might want one set when soloing, another when dealing with trash mobs in DDsa, and a third one in boss fights. Using appropriate powers in all circumstances may make a bigger difference than a 25% boost in all stats.

    Now, what I suggest you do is the following: Figure out which stats you need/want to improve. Figure out for each of the 5 methods above how much the cost will be, and what is the "relatively cheapest" method - and go for that.

    At level 60 you should have an income of at least 100.000 AD/week, and all the options I listed above should be feasible - just calculate the AD cost of each stat point for each method, and pick the most efficient one. Continue improving your stats and gear and have fun.

    I was like you, always thinking R5 was plenty good, 6 is probably mostly where you want to be so my suggestion is this, if you are patient and plan on playing through MOD4 wait until the new lockboxes are released, odds are the market will get flooded with cheap enchants and you will have a good shot at getting R6 cheaper than you can make them for (25kAD if buying marks from wonderous bizarre) and possibly getting R7 for less than 50kAD each. Right now if you can find any Rank 7 for less than 75k (which is the cost of making it yourself upgrading from R5) then buy it but at the moment I think they are stuck above 100k for a lot of them.

    Again I say if you can wait just buy R6 or R7 when a new lockbox appears, the AH will be flush with people undercutting each other to make up their money they spend.

    Yes people are still buying keys and opening lock boxes now that they are BoP, I see it all day long in the system notification.

    I disagree with people saying to upgrade armor or weapon enchants, my issue with them is when it comes down to it for PVE you dont' need them (although if you can get or make a lesser soulforge that will help the most and as always a vorpal has the most impact unless you are a GF). Personally i'd say focus on upgrading your other enchants to R7 or even 8 as that will give more benefit in my opinion as a whole to you in PVE but again that is probably depending on what class you play as others clearly get more out of some weapon enchants.

    For PVE i'd say make lessers (or buy them) and leave it at that since upgrading from lesser is usually more expensive than upgrading your existing enchants (all of them) to R7 or better.
