I don't use suspicious sites or gold selling sites, and no one has access to my computer. Password and email weren't changed, and I received no email notification about another computer being added. It looks like someone spoofed my computer.

First thing I noticed is that my keybinds were set back to default, windows opening in the wrong places, movement keys back to aswd. Then I found that several of my characters were missing AD and my ZAX offers had been removed. Characters with <40k don't seem to have been touched, but I had 7.5m (precisely) AD in offers on the exchange as well another 3.4m and some change that was taken off of characters, and the 806 zen balance I had was changed out for diamonds as well.

All bound gear is intact, but I'm missing my larger purchased bags. A lot of refining materials/enchants are missing including all higher end enchants what was in character gear. Over 1000 gold is missing.

I have changed my password and scanned my computer. Nothing found at the moment, I don't know how to protect against this type of attack in the future if I don't find anything. I want to keep playing, I've been playing since Beta. I don't want to switch accounts, I have several packs attached to my account (both founder packs and the upcoming Dragonborn ($200+$60+$75).

Already put in a ticket. Hoping for a reset, had close to a month worth of refining materials gone there is no way I could ever list what is actually missing...been saving up for warlock since the class was announced.

Some of the taken items seems haphazard. They left Casks of Wonders, a mark of potency, some R4s and Greater marks, but took other R3s, R4s and Greater marks. Guarantee you they maxed out at least one mailbox mailing stuff off. I have 9 level 60s farming Dread Ring regularly, all had around a month worth of mats, so partial stacks of all base R3s and R4s as well as each type of greater mark and lesser mark. I had just spent most of my refining stones, so there weren't many of those to take, but my plaguefire enchant they were spent on is gone.

Been there. It might be related to in-game trading because I was hacked about a week after buying a Dragon Egg for gold. It is the only time I have ever traded with anyone in-game and the only time I have ever been hacked. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Cryptic - you should really look into this, please. :)

FFXIV had a hack where you could pull account information from nearby players, and spoof a gold exchange with them.

I did buy some greater marks of potency for cash a week or so ago, I have also been more active on the AH buying and selling. Only reason I had soo much cash is I was saving up for my warlock (nothing spent basically since the class was announced), and I had sold a perfect terror on the AH for like 12m recently.

It is suspicious that the first time I'm really flush with large quantities of AD is when I get hacked. I would guess more on the buyer of the enchant I sold.

If Cryptic had an authenticator, I would have one. Had one for WOW and SWTOR, never got hacked, and I had some serious valuables on my WOW account...though to be honest I've never had a non-authenticator game get hacked either, this is the first time I've ever been hacked and I"ve been playing MMOs since EQ.

I do wish they would add some optional security measures , maybe similar to the ones online banks use or something , sure seems to be a lot of people being compromised recently.

FFS not another. Cryptic get you effing stuff together already.

@ magenubbie : How the hell is this anyone's fault but the one who was hacked (save the hacker themselves)? You are just passing the buck off to someone who has zero responsibility in the case. Assume responsibility where it's due. In this case it's the OP.

    *****

This is going to sound harsh and frictional, it's not my intention to "troll" anyone. Think of it as tough-love response because *it has to be said*.

It is not your ISP, or any other service provider's (in this case: Cryptic Studios) responsibility to force you to use (and change *OFTEN*) strong passwords and login info and *NEVER, EVER* use the same password as any other service (there are GREAT password managers available inexpensively, I prefer 1Password myself).

@ The OP: Sorry to hear about it. Contact support and ask for an account roll-back. They've done it for others before, but no promises obviously. To anyone else who blames anyone else other than the hackers themselves - UR RONG.

It behooves individual account holders to ensure their login information is tight. That means stronger passwords and actually changing them every few weeks at least. if you aren't doing this then any mischievous account access is your own fault. I hate to say it, and I know it sounds cruel, but this is a preventable thing - @OP: I hope you've learned from this (It happened to me a few years ago at Star Trek Online - I've learned, never had any problems since.)

Obviously: sometimes even this doesn't. However, hackers still have to find you - so if you Bit-Torrent and download "files wares" and such - well, 'buff said.

. . . I am sorry but we cannot offer Forum Support for Account & Billing Issues and as such we cannot allow these threads. Please keep communicating with Support, that is your only course of action for a resolution.

. . . Since I have to close this up, I don't want to leave the following just sitting there:
You bought greater marks of potency for RL cash ? Did I read this right ?
. . . If you read the full paragraph and don't take that out of context, it is quite clear they were talking about Astral Diamonds when they said "cash."

    Safe travels,
