Missing Companion after patch

I have (had) a Rank 20 Renegade Illusionist companion in my active slots with 3 Rank 5 Runes prior to the patch today. I logged on to the Gateway to check out the Sword coast adventure and notice one of my companions was missing. I logged on to the game client and patched. Once patched and in game, yep, the same companion is missing.

I realize that I can reclaim him at the reward center, so I'm not really too upset about having to re-level him, but those Runestones were a ***** to get.

I want my companion and stones back!!

Please PWE/Cryptic, help me!

Edit: I tried to reclaim from reward agent and no joy.
Re-edit: I may have failed to mention that I had 2 of these companions which I utilized two completely different ways. The one in my idle slots was untouched. I checked another account that used two of this companion in the same two distinct ways and one of them is now missing (the higher rank one).

If it was removed because we can't have duplicates, that's just plain dumb. It's not like we can have more than one of the same type active at a time to reap the bonuses. I only had two because I was tired of removing runestones from one to put on another.

Is this why they have been taken away, PWE?

It sounds like a FIX to the multiple claims on single character bug they had in the reclaims agent. Bugs like this usually undergo "silent fix" and are not announced. But if you had two copies of the same freebie companion on one character then I'm not surprised the system killed one of them off.

It's likely all the Devs did was to fix the claiming of it in Reclaim Agent (so you could only claim one and that's all) and the system automatically deleted duplicates in player inventories.

All you can hope for is to submit a support ticket.

I submitted a ticket in game, sure. The least they could have done was take the one in my idle companion slot, as I was in the process of moving runestones around and he was empty of them and items. I'm more concerned about my rune stones and rare items that he was holding more than I am about having two of that companion. The rank 5's can eventually be replaced, but the Gloomwrought items can not without buying keys and Nightmare lockboxes.

Being able to claim multiple Illusionists and Mystagogues has been fixed since Mod 3, as far as I could tell.

It's really not cool to delete companions unannounced, when they may have items attached to them and may have been upgraded at significant cost to the user, as the two people above have reported.

While this was not working as intended, it wasn't particularly exploitable either since there was no way to make two of the same companion active at the same time and they could not be traded.

You are correct; The claiming of multiple free companions was fixed with the release of IWD. You are also correct in that this was not exploitable in the slightest way. If anything, it has saved me tons of gold by not having to pay to remove rune stones. I had one that was Crit heavy and the other that was Def heavy and I used them accordingly w/o having to reslot runes.

I nice little "hey we are deleting multiple copies of your companions, so remove anything you don't want deleted with it." would have been nice. At the very least they should have taken the lowest ranked of the multiples and not my maxed out pet.

My RI also disappeared with the patch this morning. I had two of them, one idle and one in the active companion slot.

Since we didn't get a heads up on this (I'm guessing that it was an unintentional side effect of fixing the bug), I'd appreciate getting the runestones back that I had on the one that was deleted. It's too bad they didn't delete the one that was idle, because he had garbage on him... but the one I was actively using had some decent runestones that I had leveled up to min. 5 (I think one was 6). Could I have those back please?

You'll need to submit a ticket regarding the missing items.

I lost my level 30 stone of radiance and rank 8 enchants and they left me the un-used level 1 stone instead......good job.

Submitted it as a customer service ticket last night and had a reply back this morning saying that this was due to an "unknown bug" and had to submit it again as a bug ticket.

I got bit with this too. Support said open a bug report, but they won't respond directly. Not the best way to handle this. There's no way to follow up, or learn if they've acted on it, or decided you won't be getting back. I humbly ask for a change of policy.

had 4 Renegade Illusionists. All but one of them are no longer in my inventory or active slots.

The one they left me was the level 1 in my idle companion inventory.
They took my active one that is listed below.

Active companion slot #5.
Renegade Illusionist: Level 20
Name: Wizard 2, 3, or 4 (cant remember which one was the level 20, i had a total of 4 of them)
Slot 1: Empowered Runestone, Rank 7
Slot 2: Empowered Runestone, Rank 7
Slot 3: Empowered Runestone, Rank 7

I want him back with his Rank 7 Empowered Runestones as well please... you can have the level 1 that you left in my inventory.

BTW quit with the stupid silent patches.. this is what happens when you dont give us a warning of whats coming up or tell us that you did this..

Glad to see you got your items back Mechomancer.. Hoping that i will also have the same luck.. Luckily the equipped gear items went to my main inventory.. they were just your basic epic items, nothing special..

Now I'm just hoping that they return my level 20 Renegade Illusionist along with his Rank 7 Empowered Runestones.. which took me quite awhile to save up for since I'm a 100% free to player. Maybe even they could be nice for this major messup and give us a free Companion upgrade.. would be nice.. just hopeful wishing

I think its more the fact of that Cryptic did this secretly without players concerns of acknowledgement, and obviously not paying attention to the coding that would remove our more crucial companions that many people may have spent their AD, Zen, bars, gold, etc on to get to max level, gear up, and or spent the 300-500K+ AD to upgrade. Its just a disappointing circumstance to have happen right on their 1 year anniversary.

All we can hope is that they do find a way to fix this and be able to return them to us including the missing stones, gear, etc..

Best we can do is submit a ticket and hope for the best.

I'm afraid to check my other characters to see if they suffered the same fate... several members in my guild have also been affected by this and have submitted trouble tickets in game and also via tech support link thru the Arc site..

Has anyone checked the preview server on any of their copied characters to see if those were effected as well? Just wondering

I've also lost a max level ioun stone of radiance with 2 level 6 runes and a level 7. The gear it had equipped dropped into my inventory though. GM ticket and bug report both won't let me submit because they say I'm missing some information when all fields are full. Very frustrating when you can't select the item in question because it doesn't go in the only bags they look in to populate the item problem lists.

Yes, this silent patch business is just wrong. If it's an unintended bug from correcting the ability to claim multiple copies then I would hope it gets corrected. If this is a direct attempt to remove duplicates then a warning would have been appreciated. Something like "we are taking all dupe companions, so empty their pockets and make them idle" would have been nice.

I guess we just can't have nice things.....or copies of nice things, anyway.

Submitting a bug report ingame will only get you an auto response unfortunately. nothing more.. best thing you can do is use the link I've used for all of my issues with cryptic, NWO, PWE, etc.. best of luck to you and the rest of us that got hit hard by this hidden patch.

I did receive an email about this already from the support team but have yet to yield any results.. still waiting as usual....

ok I finally got a response today from Tech support regarding this issue, and yes i know I'm not allowed to copy and paste any details or private / confidential information that they provided me. So without revealing any "confidential Information"...

They are basically asking me to create a Bug Report that is supposed to goto the Q.A. Dept. not the GM department.. not sure if this is something i need to do in-game. Considering this forum thread IS in the bug report section..

Has anyone else who is dealing with this issue received a reply with similar directions via email lately?

Yes. Bug reports sent in-game enter the devs' tracking system. Forum topics, you have to hope that the right person is reading them.

My illusionist disappeared same way Next day got ring and neck (if I remember well) back, but they have deleted rank 20 companion and not the other one, which was untouched Lost 3 rank 5 runes, not a big deal, but as mech said, these things must have some sort of warning or something. Had to level up the other one, did in a 2 days anyway.

Well, that's more than I've gotten so far. I'm not giving up on it, but I've just about written that other RI and his rune stones off. That way I'm pleasantly surprised if I get some kind of recompense.
