I was going through some lore and I saw that Lord Neverember has not been crowned as king. This got me wondering. Will we ever see Lord Nevermber crowned? Or is it saved for the future? Or will somebody else be crowned?
If someone is crowned will there be a event? Will there be a special of some sort? Or will it be a future module?
What do you think? Do you think you have an answer?
He is not king, his title is protector. Rumor is, the crown of Neverwinter is cursed and will kill anyone not completely fit to rule. Considering Neverembers motives for restoring Neverwinter might not be totally honorable. I don't expect him to tempt fate and put the crown on anytime soon.
What will be the "worthy" exactly then? Power? Restoration/protection (like Lord Neverember)?
Oh I just thought of something... What will change if a king/queen is crowned?
Always keep it Classy

Valindra wears a crown, but she's a lich.
HMM....
The crown would kill anyone fit to rule. Liches are undead. What's Lord Neverember's stance on undeads? We know spellplagued have been sent to a certain area so they don't interfere with normal magics.
HHMMMM......
There's the Black Ice gear which can be made Corrupted at first, but then we saw with an appropriate scroll it cured the one dwarf smithy, and you can make Purified gear.
MRWAR!
You could make a lot of theories and guesses out of those facts.

Neverember is a Lord of Waterdeep, and probably doesn't want to be king.
Lord Neverember would wear the crown, but there is a clipping problem with his hairstyle. He has been promised that this will be fixed....soon...apparently.
...............vote for your favourite expansion.......... "Mod 6. Oh my f****** god. It gutted the game pure and simple. And what wasn't gutted was messed up by the poorly thought out new level cap and equip. The game never recovered from that atrocity". ..............not this one then.............
He's obviously lost his marbles. As I overheard a Harper Koril state upon a successful quest:
"Ah yes, Lord Neverember had that large gaudy chest delivered for you when you returned.
A single guard dropped it off and didn't break a sweat, so I assume it's filled with worthless trinkets and perhaps a moldy old weapon or armor. I often wonder if Lord Neverember has forgotten the difficult life of an adventurer, or perhaps the Master of Coin or a charge is diverting the best items into a personal stash.
But, whatever is left in there is yours -- good luck."
Upon opening the reward chest, the 60th level Control Wizard muttered
"Yipee! Another lesser healing potion, and an Arcana Skill Kit." *facepalm*

Being an undead most likely wouldn't protect you.
In my PnP campaign the crown of the true king will disintegrate anyone not of the proper line and/or anyone unlawful that dares put it on. We tried putting it on a Gabon (chaos ape), and the ape detonated with a 30 ft radius harm spell vs non-lawful, that also healed all lawful people within the radius.
Think Indiana Jones and last crusade, and drinking from the wrong grail.

He can't wear the crown. It's a quest item and gets stolen and returned every few minutes.
5 star replies.
Also apparently Neverember is "racist" ? As in dislikes anything that is not human. I read that somewhere, don't rememeber where.

. . . As others have mentioned already, he is not King, as much as he would want it... or not. The Lord Protector of Neverember is what he portrays himself as, a self-proclaimed title indeed. He took it upon himself to liberate the destroyed and overrun Neverwinter, being one of the few Unmasked Lords of Waterdeep who are a group of powerful and/or influential individuals who conjointly rule over Waterdeep and protect the surrounding land.
. . . Believing, or rather wanting others to believe that he is a successor to the throne of Neverwinter, Lord Neverember took his own men and hired Mintarn Mercenaries and anyone else he could to take back and hold Neverwinter. Since, he has been trying to "prove" to the residents and surrounding regions that he is here to help and protect Neverwinter and its peoples. There are many who would proclaim otherwise, as well as many who would agree with him.
spoiler: (Lord Neverember is an antagonist in the Neverwinter region. I'm not sure what the novels ended with, but he's left open-ended as either a villain or a potential, albeit corrupt, ally in the DM's source material (pnp). He most certainly is not a "good person," as not all rulers are. It is true that Lord Neverember does not like non-humans, but he is not above seeking their aid or using them as means to an end.)
