Barter House. An Idea

So instead of trying to spam the trade channel or some other channel when wanting to trade an item; what if there was a Barter House? Similar to the Auction House, in every way, but one. Instead of need AD to purchase items a user puts item onto the BH and then lists a couple of items that they would be willing to trade for. This would make trading between time zones/ half way around the world a lot easier.

What do you guys think?

i think that would get too complicated for them to design, but if not, it might be a great idea.

how about a building that people who are interested in trading stuff can hang out in, and spam each other to death with their wtt texts?

really- a big beef and ale (or root-beer and ice-cream if beef and ale doesn't do it for you..) place where people can socialize and meet with people who want to trade goods. reps can be built and maintained... i mean, saying in zone or trade chat depends on someone glancing at the chat window in just that moment.. if you seriously are looking for trade... a place to hang with others with similar purpose might work.

. . . That sounds really awesome, if it can be done right. As chaoscourtesan implied though, it sounds like it would be something really time-consuming and difficult to implement. I loathe chat spam, even trade chat. So something that could take the place of this and make it happen less, would be welcome and I'd like to once again start watching the game's chat channels (Zone) without being bombarded by a constantly scrolling chat window.

seriously though.. something i always wondered.. ebay has seller rep.. why not an mmo? some other games have left lots of people wary of strangers seeking trade..

a trade rating would be a real nice vanity perk for those who trade well.. although i can imagine how people could exploit for false reputation inflation. everything can be countered if you think deeply enough though. except anti-matter. there's no negotiating with anti-matter at all.

the op's post is entirely responsible for both of my posts. my idea sprang up entirely from mistaking what he was saying when i read his header. so.. he started it! (kidding, no one get mad, please.)

Agreed. Too difficult for them to design and from the looks of their content push timelines, its gonna take them a lot of resources to implement a bug-free version of this.

Interesting idea. I like it. But let's be honest here.
