I wasted months to make a foundry and although I had fun doing it, I regret the time wasted couse just a bunch of friends tried it. I put a lot of effort in it, modified the aspect of every single encounter, 4 maps with all details placed by hand, one by one, and even a decent quest line. Waste of my time and what the op said is true, most of the high rated foundries are cr4p just to please the daily nubs. One is forced to do public relations just to get some reviews by people who have no idea at all. On my foundry thread half of the ppl who posted weren't even able to finish it couse they were used to do foundries where u just have to kill a couple mobs to get ur daily and that's all. It's sad, this thread couldnt have a better name.

If half the people on the foundry forums can't finish it, that probably is something you would want to take a look at. Random people having trouble is one thing, but most people on the forums are used to many different types. If they can't finish your quest there is likely a reason.

Also, what is it called? I'll review it if I have not already.

That was the one thing I hated most...

You come here and beg for reviews... Knowing that the number of players who actually read these forums is a very very small part of the community.
And if you decide to ask/tell people about your quest in public chat, you run the risk of getting reported for spamming.

And, yes I know that there is at least one web site that will do reviews, but that is not nearly enough to be of much help.

What they really need to do is fix/change the whole foundry part of the game...
For instance... After a foundry quest had been at/on the list for so long (say 6 months) or after it gets so many plays... Remove it and put those in their own tab... Maybe an "Oldies but goodies" tab. But give no credit for running those quests anymore.
And change who categorizes the quests... Put it where it should have been from the beginning, with the author.

And yes, I am a little jaded at this point. I still tinker around with the foundry, but I do not play the actual game any more. I just do not like the direction they are going...

Well, hopefully this will help a bit.
You have all inspired me to change my foundry lookup to a min of 30 mins.
Unfortunately, I'm one of the folks that just makes Grind Foundries.
More or less just made em for myself but others play them as well.
I'll try to more actively support the True authors and their foundries starting right now.
And on that note i'll log in and run a couple.

Cheers and thanks to all of you who make the great foundries.
There are those of us who truly appreciate the work that you do.

I haven't created any foundry levels (as of yet, anyway) but I recently began playing and reviewing them just because I was a bit bored with the standard dungeon running and Gauntylgrim content of the game. I've found a lot of good, creative quests and enjoyed playing through them. The problem with the system the developers have set up is that most people are trying to develop their characters - getting new items, enchantments, gear, etc and the foundry offers basically nothing to those people. They can either do four foundry quests which can take anywhere from 1-3 hours depending on which ones are picked and get rewarded with a pittance of rough AD, or they get a good group of 5 players together during DD and walk away with a combined 20-25 epic pieces of equipment (4 or 5 each from chests) plus 12-15 additional boss drop epics that they roll for. Between salvaging the chest items and selling the boss drops each member of a group can easily clear 50k AD in one hour and if something really rare drops each person can clear 250k or more.

The foundry rewards are chicken feed compared to other farming methods. Until that is fixed people looking to upgrade their characters won't give the foundry a second look.

My solution would be for the developers to have approved foundry quests (just like they do now for ones approved for dailies) which would have no experience caps (so players would use the foundry to level up alts) and gives good rewards for the first time they are played through--an epic piece of equipment or good chunk of AD or something. Bigger rewards for longer quests. Each successive time a mission is played through it gives smaller rewards. People would flock to the foundry and would be trying different quests every day. It would be easy to keep the exploiters away as loot grinds or mass kill maps wouldn't get approval from the devs to have good drops in the first place.

I do like the foundry overall better than what I had to learn in programming language, and a toolset. On the negative side of it though I feel a little less mentally challenged in learning a new system. That's not a bad thing completely as it means I can focus more on the content of a quest rather than "how do I make X do Y?".

On the one side Foundry Authors are going to make quests that please PLAYERS for quick review, quick grind, quick XP, etc. On the other side Foundry Authors are goung to make quests that please THEMSELVES in lore, PvP, creativity, etc.

You have to decide what kind of an Author you are before you can decide whom to please with the quest. It's impossible to make everyone happy at once. You'll go nuts trying to.

There's plenty of good suggestions here on limiting daily play through of a quest etc, or timer alterations on the dailies.

A simple suggestion I could go with is "You cannot repeat a quest to qualify for finishing the daily for Rhix." Play four (or however many) different quests for it.

Hmm, only else I can suggest is asking Devs to play through the quests themselves, and reserve the right to remove some, or notify the author of the quest "You have X days to fix ____, or your content may be removed."

"Why is it dragons only use ketchup? I'd like a little wasabi please. Us silvers like a variety of condiments."

This is only peripherally related, but I really wish that the "achievement exploit" quests (take a short walk, click one thing, take a shorter walk, claim reward, repeat for 14 more "quests" in the "campaign") were not shown on the "Best" screen. Those imo have no business being on anything labeled "best". It's a slap in the face to people who make real quests.

Foundries sohuld have a talking program based on text, like the loquendo thing or others. Plus some of the game voices to add. Aside from a better system for rewards and reviews of course.

loquendo has horrible voiceover, I prefer no voices to a robotic one. We could have some random words like "hellio adventurer" or "help me" with various voices so we cna play that when we talk to a npc.

I started one quest... started in a tavern... I left the village... I reached the 'dungeon'. Monsters stacked at every turn...

Sounds nice. What's the name of this quest? I want to play it. Why should I dislike this quest? This is what my char does every day in PvE, except the devs reward you with AD, stats, glory to play their PvE, while the foundry creators are only authorized to reward you with the pleasure of playing their foundry.
And besides the issue of the rewards, the foundry creators are also limited with what Cryptic gives them to create their foundry. Too often, the foundry creators have to put all their creativity in the story and the dialog and the scenario, because they're not given the material to create their own textures, animations, timers, monsters, clothes, sounds.
