So with Thursday's upcoming changes, has anyone thought about elven battle or barkshield for an increased survivability TR? I hear Cw's are getting a base CC increase. Wondering if Battle might help you get out of the freeze cycle they put you in if you get caught with your knickers down.

Thoughts?

Elven Battle and Barkshield for sure. I'm currently on my way to getting an Elven Battle to Greater to prepare for Thursday. Soulforged will no longer be as viable as it was because of Healing Depression, so the best we can do is to maximize our opportunities to react to our opponent's actions with Elven Battle. Less chances of getting Immobilzed.

Also, with so much extra defense (and tenacity) wouldn't greater plague fire be preferred over pbile? Certainly over pvorpal.

isn't greater/perfect elven battle broken and not working currently?

I thought I remembered hearing they were not working as intended as well, but that was a while ago.

No, you have to look at the specifics. Plague fire provides a defense reduction. Tenacity provides damage resistance, not defense. Defense stat will be the same. P-Bile is a necessity. I would definitely go with it. Especially since vorpal will get hit with the crit hit suppression nerf. You need P-Bile to break rogues stealth. This is even more the case now that the new armor will grant +30% stealth instead of only 25%. It also works really great if u hit ppl running past you to cap your base because after you dismount them, they will still get hit for a longer time after you dismounted them which will prevent them from remounting. I believe this lasts longer than plaguefire's burn as well. Also, on targets that do not stack defense, plaguefire will not provide as much of a benefit, whereas bilethorn still will.

Oh and by the way, with respect to the initial topic. Definitely barkshield for me. It was used on par with soulforged for a long time and some people even still liked it on rogue even during the latest soulforged update since stealth builds already maintain such high survivability and you have the potential to die immediately after soulforged sometimes.

Recent thread in bug reports indicates that Greater Elven Battle works as expected but Perfect is broken to the extent of having no effect at all.

    Re: weapon enchantments
What I've read about these indicates that absolutely everything that says it's a debuff of one kind of another translates into a damage increase (for you or for party, depending on enchant type) in actual functionality.

You are missing the point though. Yes, it will debuff your targets defense, which will mean more damage for you and your party versus that target. However, tenacity boosts damage resistance, not defense. Therefore, lowering their defense does nothing to affect tenacity, and therefore defense lowering enchants are unaffected by tenacity.

It also means if u are fighting a rogue with 1k defense, -15% defense means -150 defense, which is pretty insignificant compared to other enchants. Even on someone with 3k defense its only -450, but at that point their defense is stacked so high over diminishing returns that you will not see too much of an increase in damage. This is why any top tier pvp match will be all vorpals (or bilethorn on rogues).
