What to Expect?

I logged into Neverwinter this morning and discovered that my account was tampered with sometime during the night.

All of my AD was missing from my characters. My unspent Zen was missing. Bags were missing from my inventory, along with all their items. They even cleaned out all my unclaimed tips from my all Foundry projects (I've been saving up, so it was significant).

Obviously, this was a pretty upsetting discovery... and I really don't understand how something like this happens, especially when I'm particularly obsessive about security and privacy.

Naturally, I did all the "next steps" that I've heard people talk about.
  • All of my passwords (to everything, not just NW) were immediately changed.
  • I ran updated anti-virus & anti-malware software (which came out clean, and which I run regularly).
  • I posted to my guild to make them aware of the problem.
  • I sent a ticket to Customer Support, detailing everything I could think of.

And now I just wait... and wait... with really no idea of what happens next in this kind of situation. It's a horrible feeling. I'd like to think that it would be easy to identify when this happened and what was lost, since it's a narrow window of time when it could have occurred. I'd also like to think that my characters and items could be restored to what they were like when I logged out last night. I'd even like to think that they could track some information about who accessed the account and did this, though I really don't know how that works.

Meanwhile... the waiting is awful. It's particularly rough since we're snowed in here on the east coast today, and it would have been a perfect day to spend in Neverwinter. But until I hear back from Customer Support, I don't want to log in or change anything. And I'm not sure what else I can/should do while I wait. (Apparently, checking my email every 10 minutes to see if Customer Service has responded isn't helpful. :p)

For anyone else who has gone through this, what was your experience like? What might I expect at this point? I could really use some encouragement about now...

Scooter

This happened to my boyfriend back around Christmas, what he did was send a nice polite request for an account rollback to before he was hacked, took about 12 days to finally get it all done but thats to be expected around the holidays. He missed out on the christmas event but oh well. It really is just a waiting game sadly. Dont bother playing until you get the yes or no on a rollback, because if they do accept to do it, youll lose any progress ;P

Good luck with your case :)

. . . I am horrified to hear of your issues and hope it is resolved soon for you. However, please use private messages for such matters as we do not allow topics best left for Customer Service and one's self.
