Reinforced Guantlets - Bound??

So I bought some gauntlets for one of my toons, and wanted to upgrade them to reinforced.
I have an alternate account with a toon with level 20 leatherwork. I had that toon craft them, but then when I retrieved them, they were bound to that character. Now thankfully, I did this all on the preview server, but is this the way it's supposed to work. Can you only have reinforced guantlets if you craft them yourself. Now I gotta level that other character to level 20 leatherworking too?

Yes, it is how it works. There is even a big warning on the crafting page telling you that the resulting gauntlet will be BoP.

Reinforcing will also destroy any enchant left in it. Make sure to remove first. Ask me how I know.

It will also cancel out any transmutation on the unreinforced gauntlet, just to let you know.

That is because the non-reenforced version is destroyed in the process of making the new one.

The thing is....making reinforced gauntlets used to be a big source of income when they were BoE, but after that was changed, crafting became...well, not pointless, but at least far from being as profitable as it used to be. Today, it is really only worth it to level Leadership and Alchemy to 20 - if you want to level the third profession, it would typically be to unlock an extra leadership slot, or to make the gauntlets for yourself. It may still be possible to make a profit on purple shirts and pants, but the tools are really expensive, and with only a 60% chance of the tier-3 version, it will take a long time to break even.

I really with that crafting had a real purpose.....
    Hoping for improvements...

. . . That is indeed what happens. The original gauntlet is consumed as a reagent in the process. Any enchantment in the reagent gauntlet is lost, as is any transmutation done to it.

Don't forget that you need to level up Weaponsmithing or Artificing to make the BiS Weapons for every class .
