hi all. just have a quick question. how many votes are actually required to vote kick someone out of the party in a dungeon? does it have to be unanimous or like one or two can get it done?

    Two.

The person who is in the hot seat can't vote so only four people can vote.
If the votes are tide (two to two) then the person is kicked.

At least that is what I was informed of by other forum posters.

So, in other words, ONE other than the kick proposer?

Sadly yes. I would prefer it if it required 3 but that is not how it works according to what I have heard.

But this is not first hand experience.

. . .I was under the assumption it took a majority vote of the party members. I am not sure though as I run into it so very little as I rarely do any puging.

This is one of the reasons I won't pug or even accept pug fills, unless I have at least two other guild mates with me. As far as I can tell, the vote-kick is used primarily for hogging loot and very little else. I don't want any part of that or anything to do with anyone who would take part in it. I'd leave my guild if they did this, or failed to sort out any members who did.

Yeah, I know.. I am probably missing out on a lot of good times. But 4 hours of fun are not worth 4 minutes of annoyance over this sort of junk.

Delete my reply if you feel it's inappropriate. It's not meant to be inflammatory. I just think something needs to be improved about this part of the system. (And would suggest that if by the first or second boss someone hasn't been kicked, then they deserve to be allowed to finish.)

I used to play dungeons wayyyyy back in Open Beta but back then never I never even saw anyone vote-kicked.

But I am planning on restarting and if the mechanic is that you only need two people (including the proposer) to kick someone this seems really out of whack. At the very least a majority vote (3 votes) should be required, preferably unanimous 4 votes).

That's because the vote kick wasn't implemented until after launch. Before then a random* person would be selected as party leader and thus given full control over kicking and loot options (ie. could change it to Master Looter or Round Robin and alter the loot quality threshold).

The current system, while flawed, is an improvement.

*It's possible that it was just the first person to load into the dungeon, but I can't remember for certain.

As near as myself and my friends have been able to determine, party leader is given to the character which was created most recently. Sounds weird, but I am pretty sure this is the way it works.
