I have the dire wolf but cant decide what I would give up to use it. I am currently running with stone, archon, wild hunt, dancing blade, and blink dog.

Does dire wolf work on bosses ? Like Tos final boss to interrupt her healing?

I originally skipped the wild hunt rider because I didn't think it would trigger on AOEs (I assumed 1 in 20 encounter skills). But with AOE procs, I will be getting one. Wish I knew that before I dumped 1.5 mil into a stat companion.

Slyph/Will-o-wisp are good in stun heavy dungeons like DK/PK.

did my own tests with will o wisp and cantankerous mage, the bonuses are flat +%. works with stuns, daze, frozen. hard to tell with prone (from shard)

But it also makes your repel shoot things over 10 miles. urbs is currently waiting to upgrade his on preview so he can tell us what % it gives.

I ended up changing my loadout to:

    stone
    slyph
    will o wisp
    cantankerous mage
galeb (or may keep my book imp on).

yea i know... its blasphemy not going for damage but meh, turning my mage into a 1 man control machine.

not is blasphemy anyway PAINGIVER conquest does not give any prize, just personal satisfaction! I agree with you, particularly prefer dps, but I have tools to focus on control! after magician is art!

The Cantankerous Mage on epic provides a +25% Control Bonus.

I'm going to test the addition of Orb of Imposition, if the 15% add as well, it may be a nice setup for add heavy fights.

I had tested epic Cantankerous Mage + maxed Orb of Imposition before. The only noticeable difference I found was that the freeze duration being extended from 4s to 6s (and sadly in dungeon runs it still be broke nearly instantly by party members). As for durations of Entangling Force and Oppressive Force, they didn't seem to have noticeable differences. Maybe Will-O'-Wisp can be added for a more accurate test.

Anyone have wild hunt rider, notice if the buff instantly disappears on certain spells?

It does this with my ranger (have one on him) and only works/stays up half the time. Wanted to know if any wizards had a problem like this.

I had noticed many times on my CW that, although the "Wild Hunt" text poped out after he conjured SotEA, the active bonus's little icon didn't appear under his portrait. That means the active bonus might not be in effect in this case.

I was about to ask a similar question.

When I first got the wild hunt rider I was completely disappointed. At the green level I rarely noticed the text coming up. So eventually I fired up ACT and did dailies etc. ACT confirmed what I was seeing, the buff rarely procced.

I was about to bail and go back to my 300 power companion but I asked around in game and everybody swore by the hunt rider. So I upgraded to blue. Then bam "Wild hunt" was popping up every 5 seconds (okay a slight exaggeration). So I fired up ACT again to see how often compared to green. That's when I discovered that most of the times I seen the words it never actually appeared in the log.

As for the icon, I still don't know what it even looks like. I was trying to find it but I get so many and by the time you mouse over them they shift and disappear.

Obviously, something is buggy with this. If I can figure out a way to actually test if the buff is working I will. I tried running dread spire multiple times with 4 companions, then those 4 companions plus wild hunt, and then those companions and the power companion but in the end all three were so close in avg damage that I didn't learn much.

I might run it again now that my wild hunt is blue. As much as it's supposedly proccing now it should make enough of a difference to be noticeable over the randomness.

With regards to Wild Hunt Rider and ACT, I parsed logs from a run with a HR guildie who have the pet (green). I have definitely seen "Wild Hunt" text proc on ME (I don't have the pet). I checked the logs, and while the ability seems to proc quite frequently (at least 3-5 times per minute, sometimes more), the 'target' is not always the owner of the companion. Quite often it's another party member and occasionally an encounter effect like the thorn ward.

What I think is that wild hunt does proc, but that the target buffed at the moment seem to be one random ally in proximity. I haven't tested enough to see if it's just wrongly attributed (ie target mismatch from ACT) or the ally actually gets the buff.

I have noticed that lately the blue/green hand either disappears quickly or doesn't appear at all. It may only be a coincidence, but it started after taking the final Dread Ring boon for me. Still seeing high damage after the text indicator appears.

I have the epic Wild Hunt Rider. It procs about 50% of the rate of EotS, but both have 5% chance so there is either something wrong or the encounters from which WIld Hunt procs are different then EotS. And as asked few post above this, the Wild Hunt wont proc on allies, at least not in my parties. I do have the idea that not all procs are also actually working...

Edit: the Tomb Spider is also nice on epic. It does 3-5% dmg of your total dmg according to ACT.
