. . . . . Welcome back! I'm sorry, I do not PvP hardly at all and when I do I don't pay attention to what is "the best" to use in PvP, as I really couldn't care any less about PvP in Neverwinter. I could only offer advice for PvE builds and then I'd need to know at least one of three choices for the Spellstorm Mage paragon path:
Do you want to be an Ice Wizard?
Do you want to be an Arcane Wizard?
Do you want to be a mix of the two?
. . . . . Additionally, it is possible to deviate a bit and go for a pure lightening theme, which I have done, and be very effective. I currently play 'Old Zeb' as my main, he is a pure AP-gain lightening theme wizard. I also have a cold wizard and an arcane wizard. I am also going to be leveling a wizard for the upcoming fire paragon path.

thanks, i have a question though, for full lightning i would guess you use sudden storm, which when i played, didnt crit. is that still the case? and if so wouldnt that make it a sub-optimal spell?

. . . . . I've had the first strike crit quite often but I cannot tell if the other consecutive hits land crits or not as I'm not that quick to tell. I can't say for certain if it crits properly in the mastery slot, as I don't use it there ever. I suppose that would need testing but honestly, I do so much damage as it is and I'm not specced for critting, that it doesn't phase me. I'm specced to land consistent hard hits every time, rather than relying on RNG for crits.
. . . . . I open with Entangling Force (Mastery) to gather them up, then strike with a 1/2+ charged Storm Pillar to add its bonus from my feat, then I Sudden Storm them, followed by Steal Time, which adds lightening damage from my Storm Spell feature. My other class feature is Orb of Imposition, which is to ensure the mobs stay controlled long enough during Entangling Force and Steal Time to allow me either get my spells off or re-position myself for the next combo.
. . . . . If I am attacking a single target, I do the same except I open with Ray of Enfeeblement. I'm specced for doing more damage within 20' of my target, so I am a close-quarters fighting mage, who teleports around a lot and rely on my defense to mitigate any blows I do take, so I am able to pot up instead of dieing in a hit or two. I do drink a lot of potions, more than my distance specced mages.
. . . . . I'm much better in a group, especially with a Guardian Fighter tanking all the aggro. With a GF/GWF in the party, I always gather the adds infront of them and then teleport behind the adds to give combat advantage and then lay on my combos. I use singularity a lot for this mob gathering, as well as maelstrom. I did not go one full path in the paragon trees, mostly Thaumaturge but a little of each of the other two as well to compliment my lightening spells specifically.
. . . . . As for boons, I went the whole bottom row except for the last boon, which I took the stamina one (on top). I'm probably going to be switching that to Elvish Fury however when the free respecs come.

I'll point Zeb in this direction though.
