Naming people on forums is against the ToS I believe. Did you open a ticket?
His name alone should raise a red flag.

Sorry you got cheated but you need to put in a ticket with support , you are not allowed to name people who scammed you on this forum so you need to delete the guys name.

Also in future only trade through the auction house , it is the most secure way to trade.

I hate to say this Bijik, but this issue is as old as time. Now some MMOs have implemented a confirmation system to the trade windows, which automatically resets all confirmations once any party makes a change. Unfortunately this seems to be the exception to the rule.

For your average Trade, I normally let things sit for 5-10 seconds once we've both put up our offered items. If you're dealing with a hot potato Trade cheater, they'll have quickly yanked their items out of the window within that interval. But for most of us, we sit there silently as if we're in some kind of starring competition. Both of us don't want to get scammed, so both parties exercise a few seconds of caution before hitting Confirm.

But to be frank, this is what you get for avoiding the Auction system. The MMO designers specifically created the system to avoid trade scams. Since you weren't using gold coins in any transaction, both of those transactions (being a purchase and a sale) could been done safely with astral diamonds. Yes, the Auction system would have taken a cut away from your transactions. However this system is normally 100% safe, assuming that you don't run into a freakishly rare game bug. By trying to avoid the Auction system as a way of saving diamonds, you're effectively gambling on every Trade transaction. Sooner or later, every gambler gets burned. I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you, but you were the one who chose to use the risky choice.

I am surprise this bug is still in game. STO doesn't allow this. If you click cancel or move item, the other trader automatically "uncheck" until the new offer is in place and check again.

I am pretty sure if you hit accept and they pull the item it does reset the trade window, or at least it used to (it may have changed since I last tested it). What usually happens is they pull the item and hit accept right BEFORE you hit accept. That is why it is always best to just sit there for a few seconds before you do anything. No honest trader will ever complain if you take an additional 5 or 10 seconds to hit accept.

Sorry but this is a HAMSTER poor excuse. He deserves it because he didn't use the AH? The AH is designed as a drain for Astral diamonds so people HAVE to buy zen. It's a smart system. But if the user was smart enough to avoid it, and go for a person to person trade, he shouldn't be penalized. This is 2013. Trade confirmation shouldn't be a new thing. Once an item is removed the trade should be unconfirmed, greying out the trade button. It's a simple system.

Nobody HAS to buy zen. AD can be earned through various means in game, all it takes is some patience and effort.

Is there any dev actually looking at this trade issue?! There had been feedback about this issue for such a long time! One or two months after beta of no fixing is still ok, but it is more than six months since! The excuse "there are not enough dedicated manpower to fix bugs" can only hold water for so long.

Its HAMSTER poor programming. Plus they never tested this before launch and still never have even tried to fix it so far. This is supposed to be a new mmo. What other major mmo's out there have this issue?

They don't have much incentive to fix this when it drives people to use the AH instead where they are able to take 10% to 12.5% of the AD out of circulation for each transaction.

So, it is easy to see how something like this could be 'accidentally' overlooked. I've seen this exact same thing in way too many games.

The best advice is the same as someone posted above.

After you both have your stuff in the trade window, wait a good 5-10 seconds before you accept. The scam relies on precise timing and is the person doing the scamming will usually try to hurry/rush you into accepting 'the deal'. Also, the deal you are getting is usually a good one, thus, you are in a hurry to accept it and are vulnerable to being scammed.

Sorry you were scammed, hopefully you can use the info you learn from this thread to avoid the unpleasant feeling in the future. Good luck!

Yes this issue is old as time, Devs need to get there act togather with this issue. It happend to a friend of mine said that when he made a ticket, devs just told him nothing we can do about your problem cause your stupid for letting it happen to you. Which its just a simple fix of the trade window. I think the stupid ones is the ones who allow it to happen.

Patch notes were just posted on the Mimic server. Includes this:
Trade Window: There is now extra confirmation dialog when trading with players to confirm the trade.

So in just about every MMO I have ever played has been plagued with trade scams. Sadly, this game is no different. Luckily I haven't had it done to me but have heard from several that it's occurring. It appears players are using some sort of hack that allows them to revise the trade. As a result you click accept when the item is in their window but the hack removes it and you get nothing.

So how do you fix this game and every other game?

Simple. Add a confirmation window (yeah, I know another one). So with this a trade works as follow. Players put their items in and hit accept. Trade window greys out, goes away, whatever. Trade is received by server in is held in limbo pending the confirmation. Each player gets a message showing the trade with items to accept or cancel (no changes can be made in this window). This, of course, needs to come from the server side so client side hacking can't be done.
