Except that most of the items you can buy for Zen are often half the equivalent price in the Auction House.
That's not true. Coalescent wards are the only thing that I can think of that's outright cheaper to buy on the AH than by exchanging Zen, because players can get them for free from invoking.
Sometimes, if you look at the right time, you'll find things for cheaper than the exchange rate, but the vast majority of Zen store items listed on the AH have been marked up by the seller. That's their entire motivation for listing it on the AH in the first place. Keys, bags, preservation wards... not many people selling pets anymore because they're a huge investment with few interested buyers.
I'll grant that single fashion pieces or bottles of dye might be found at bargain prices when they are leftovers from someone buying a full set or stack when they only wanted part of it.
Personally my guess is the 256k rough AD reward. A lot of people, especially casuals have a lot of free AD that they want to convert into zen now that they can get stuff free.
Edit: Wait, that would lower prices, so I guess now that people have lots of AD, less people want to buy AD.
Actually that would rise prices why?
Zen still has to be bought by someone. The limiting factor is CASH. Players must be willing to buy Zen and put up in AD/Zen exchange. If there is a rush to buy Zen, then the cost will go up (especially with a sale coming and all) people want Zen to buy sale items and thus will buy up cheaper Zen quick)

Ioun stones are on sale.
Expect it to shoot up even further. Lol. I just used a good portion of my survey zen to get one a few days ago. Guess I should have waited >_> dang.
Oh well. Ride the bubble while you can, folks, just be sure to have your Zen liquidated into AD before it pops =P. I think I'll just start hording my AD until things get back down below 350 AD/zen
Oh, and wards are now also listed under companions as well. Interesting.

I think they always have showed up in that category, as well as under items where they belong. Just a shop mis-flag.
I must have the opposite of change-blindness then, as this is yet another thing you've pointed out to me that's been that way for possibly a while XD. I can't do an in-game report since I'm at work, but I sent a notice to Sominator on it.
As always, thanks for the info ^_^.

Yeah, the reintroduction of the Lilend and the Ioun sale will really mess with Zen prices for the next week or two. It's definitely a Zen seller's market at the moment and it's likely to get even more out of balance after this weekend (between the weekend warrior players finally logging in to take advantage of things & people getting Friday paychecks).

I have posted this before, but I suppose it bears repeating....
If you're planning to buy anything from the Zen shop that is not currently on sale, best to wait until after the sales are changed out on Thursdays. Further, if it's something that you don't absolutely need right away, then wait until it is put on sale. I think we've seen now that there are no exceptions, and everything is eligible for sale prices at some point.

Yeah, and normally I abide by this but I got impatient. And, well, I paid the price XD.
Or it could be, that some people are way greedier than others. Who cares if there are sales going on. If something is devalued by oversupply the prices should drop, not rise. So yeah, it comes down to personal factors and greed is the only thing i can think of.
Their mentality is: "If i have to pay less, then YOU have to pay me more."

FFS. Seriously? -bangs head on desk- I mean its great to sell right now. But the only way to really get things to drop is to STOP BUYING at these prices... which probably won't happen until the extra AD gets soaked up.
Hold onto your AD folks, it's going to be a bumpy ride @_@.
Yep. the combination of both of those is really driving the price of Zen up. However, if you're in the market to buy the Stone of Allure, at the current sale price of 1340Z, it's a steal compared to the current AH prices (lowest right now is 695k) even if you had to pay 500 AD/ Zen -- which it isn't yet.

The price of pres wards is really low too. If you have zen.
Once the sales started I had 2000 zen already in the exchange to claim. I'm glad I did since I could get my remaining 2 stones with a bit extra exchanged. I wasn't using that character at the time apart from crafting so decided to wait it out ^_^.
I've had long standing sell orders filled at 428, lol.
Lillend + Allure sales ftw!
I dumped mine at 440 and made almost 100 AD per Zen profit. I am glad I got out when I did because it jumped up to 450 and suddenly dropped like a stone. Someone bought all the lower priced Zen and dumped it all at 450. Whoever it was made a killing. It was easy to tell someone (or a group) did it because it shot up real fast all of a sudden and went right back down just as fast. I had 30k Zen sitting at 440 and it sold in a few seconds.

Crazy high prices now. Yeah, the reason why Cryptic just dumped the entire player base a truckload of AD was for this reason:
Zen prices go up, more people want to buy Zen with real money and sell for AD.
man, should have sold my lillend a moth or so ago when they were going for 3.5 mill... prices on those ladies has fallen dramatically already.

I don't get how it could have changed that dramatically so quickly. I am one of those individuals who has gotten well over 300k rough AD however the limit to only being able to convert 23k a day has made it hardly quick to cash in on this zen/AD conversion. I am pretty sure its just random, it will fluctuate like this from time to time, and this won't be the first time. Me I have bad luck, I was holding onto just over 5k zen for about a month now in hopes the market would increase then finally gave in and used them up I have the worst luck with this game in all its aspect
Anyway I think it was stupid of perfect world too have an event where u can win free rough Diamonds but u cant even use it...u need too refine it...so if u have like 300k rough diamonds its gonna take u about 2 weeks or so too refine it ...stupid !!!!
why give ad if u cant use it immediately! Any gm plz advice ???

I agree. It would have been better to have an event where you won no free rough diamonds. Kids these days have it too easy.
