Gypsies Do Cry

The Master (in this campaign) is the name often attributed to something known as the Will of Existence. All those of true Supreme status are able to feel, and thus "hear" and "see", the Master and regulate their manipulation of Existence in regards to that will. Two Supremes, Ao and Oa, came into creation at the same time. They were not truly opposites of themselves but they were quite different from one another in one aspect: their devotion to the Master. Ao did his best to do everything as the Master desired him to. Oa, on the other hand, only did this to start with. Over time, his opinions differed from the Master's. He began to turn the area of Existence he had jurisdiction over into something foul and incomprehensible. We call the remnants of this creation the Far Realm.

In 1 BA (Before Ao), the Master had had enough. It sent itself through Ao once more, desiring that Ao eliminate Oa and fix the disaster Oa had created. The two Primordials fought for 100 years, a time known as Century Zero. Oa, defeated, retreated into the last remnants of the Far Realm, sealing them - but also making them indestructible, even for Ao. Continuing with the Master's desire, Ao drew some "essence" from his own area of Existence and let the "essence" compatible with the purer version of Oa's area seep into the area, creating a new realm with its own inhabitants.

[Quick Note: 300 years in this realm is equal to 100 in Realmspace... So Ao did this RIGHT after the Time of Troubles.]

The gnomes were the most unchanged. Though not always positive, they were still quite creative. They inhabited the Northwestern portion of the right continent, this being Silia (the region) of Haremone (the continent). An odd mixture of Angel and Devil, called Yokai, was first created here in Kau'Tien - the Southeastern region of Haremone. Hilliandi, an orcish race, always with such youth (in appearance and anatomy) of that of a human teenager, with ears, tails, and/or other features of various animals - whether mammal, avian, or reptilian, inhabited the Northeastern region of Haremone, Falchin.

The Left Continent, Xixzilyun, is known as the Forbidden Continent. It has had no inhabitants other than the first generations of the Kulim, a sort of Ancient Egyptian -like race with blacks rather than whites in their eyes with glowing pupils, brass skin, and larger than normal but not too large ears (these are tall but not wide, ovals and not pointy), which have humanity's spirit and elven beauty. Some of their populous, disgusted by the continuous worship of nature and the jungle in the southern half of the continent, left the Xixzilyun, founding new societies and cultures in Milcasinia, the Southwestern region of Haremone. It is believed that the remaining Kulim in Xixzilyun became so ritualistic and did such incomprehensible acts with the jungle itself that they eventually melded into the jungle - becoming a part of it. This was deemed possible due to the Far Realm's influence upon the Forsaken Jungle...

The Middle Continent, Lunarius, is inhabited by mindless pixie-like drones called Snacks which are treated as common machines would be by the Spimia, the Spider Lamia, which rule over the pixies and command them to do as the Spimia please. The pixies were named by the Spimia with perhaps the most accurate name they could be given. While the Snacks, unaware even of their own existence, are treated like the brainless drones they are, they are the sole food source of the Spimia. Snacks always respawn whenever they die and have all the nutrients the Spimia need. Truly, they are treated as they should be treated. The Spimia, due to having this leisure, have created perhaps the most beautiful land in the world, with silk of all dyes, patterns, and textures completely covering the continent. However, the Spimia, though not hostile, prefer their eternal bliss. Though they do not harm travelers, they wish the travelers to leave quickly. They do not trade for they have no need to - theirs is a completely closed society.

Generally counted as a part of Milcasinia, the Kraken Islands are inhabited by good-willed Illithid, called the Krakenkinde to differentiate them, that were recruited by Ao in his battle against Oa. They were given a place in the Promised Land, a landmass opposite to that of Tritorn - the "world" containing the continents mentioned above. However, many of them heard the Kraken's Song, what many nowadays refer to as the "Call of the Ocean", which drew a small group of them to the Kraken Islands. They then lived plain lives, as coastdwelling natives, until 159 AO (After Oa), which means 159 years after Century Zero, when the Yokai first showed their worst colors and affected the livelihood of the Krakenkinde. Since then, the Krakenkinde have developed a pirate culture, destroying the ships of the Yokai which threaten their way of life.

In 34 AO, the Gnomes had a great falling out between Logic and Mysticism. The Mystic Gnomes berated the Logic Gnomes, claiming that the lack of belief in anything without proof by a so-called "proper science" which, itself, had too many contradictions - according to the Mystics - would lead to a society without solutions. The Logic Gnomes spoke against "belief without proof", claiming that small hints were not the same as clues and that suck a reliance on that belief would cause the Mystics to never advanced their societies properly. The two were divided. The Mystic Gnomes moved to the islands in the northwest of Silia, known now as Silia High. The Logic gnomes stayed in the more landlocked area of Silia, now called Silia Low.

Now, the Mystic and Logic Gnomes have each developed greatly in their own ways. The Logic Gnomes have generated a very technological, though not so industrial, society reminiscent of the cyber culture on Earth. The Mystic Gnomes have made great leaps in medicine due to their expertise in Alchemy and the Four Colors concept. They have found Elixirs for Life, Chi, and Psyche. The potential of an individual is graded by how strong their Aura - a flurry of colors coming from the person's body seen through Aurasense - is and those with the strongest aura, thus the most potential, are deemed rulers over those of lesser aura. The Logic Gnomes have a society ruled by statistics, which is now falling apart due to the release of Virtual Beasts onto reality in 160 AO, which has led to neverending warfare using Yokai weapons against the Beasts, given to the Logic Gnomes due to the Yokai's respect for their structued and logical society. However, the Gun Bridge is now the only way to get the weapons to the Logic Gnomes, due to the ongoing war between the Yokai and Kraken Pirates upon the sea. This causes the weapon delivery to be drawn out for a longer wait time, which has harmed the Logic Gnomes' ability to gain victory in the war. However, the Mystic Gnomes, now threatened by the presence of the Virtual Beasts and having taken pity on the Logic Gnomes, have re-opened their peaceful society to war - sending in Alchemists and Psionics to aid the war effort.

The gun shortage is more apparent now that the Hilliandi have managed to advance on the Yokai, who they see as the greatest threat to nature due to the Yokai's industrial society. Though the Yokai have enough power (and firepower) to wage war against the Kraken Pirates and the Hilliandi while also supplying the Logic Gnomes, this keeps them from further exploring the Grand Sphere - a semi-sphere (despite the name) of pure ocean with various empty islands containing beyond mystical resources that are ripe for the plundering. The Yokai, pulling out and back to their Flat World, did not venture far enough to see the islands now inhabited by creatures from the Far Realm.

The remnants of the Far Realm, portals (marked as Xs on the map) have been influencing the realm more and more recently - from the Forsaken Jungle's transformation to even the population upon the islands in the middle of the Grand Sphere. This influence has been orchestrated by Oa's last will (before his rest) to his lords, for them to journey outward to find and eliminate Ao, who is currently resting himself "under" the Promised Land, which can only be reached by going THROUGH the Grand Stream which connects the Grand Sphere and the Promised Land. The Stream is guarded on all sides by Phlogiston which, in this realm, can rip everything apart and devour it, whether the object/entity/thing in question is from the Far Realm or not. The oceans of the Realm are also extremely deadly - but to Far creatures alone. Due to this, none of them have been able to reach Ao's resting place (labeled as an 8-pointed star on the map). However, it is believed that if they can force another race to do their bidding, they can get them to find a way to get there - or, even better, it is also believed that Ao will go back to his own realm and be out in the open if the Far Realm properly infects Ao's Realm - which has somehow because possible recently, bypassing the Supreme Fold - which nothing should be able to get through without Ao's permission.

The world DOES have an atmosphere - the Phlogiston acts half of the time as a light-giver and a dark-giver, casting light and darkness upon all things under it - that is, within the atmosphere. Creatures in Oa's Realm (once again, not the Far Realm) - let us just now call it Gypsyspace to make it easier - normally see things properly in the dark and closed-in areas, thus allowing for full color, shape, and depth in the darkness, and need Litevision - which the Yokai and Kulim naturally have in a way that lets them live easily in both night and day - in order to see in the daytime.

The Avian Hilliandi, inhabitants and guardians of the great Chi Burst - the source of all the realm's chi and the reason why creatures in Gypsyspace can manipulate chi - have been flying over to Silia High for 50 years, which led to the development of Chi Elixirs. These Elixirs and the "Weapon Breaker" ability given to the various Mammal and Reptile Hilliandi by the recent appearance of Lessinor, given new life by Ao when he used as much power as he could (while "asleep") to bring the "dead" god's essence to Gypsyspace, believing Lessinor to be worthy enough to be the (currently) ONLY god (besides Ao) to have influence in Gypsyspace. Lessinor chose two groups to give his power to in return for worship - the group of Mammal and Reptile Hilliandi based on stealth (calling themselves ninja) just mentioned and anyone in Tyrao that desired his help. Lessinor believed the never-ending conflict in Tyrao could end with proper assassin-types getting the job done. Which brings us to details on Milcasinia, the main or "central" region for this campaign...

Milcasinia was once inhabited by a united people. A society based on self-development existed until Ji-or, claiming herself to be sent by Ao, spread out the belief that what mattered was the connection between people, not the power within oneself. Ji-or spoke of the concept of "becoming Ao" by "merging together as one". In response to this, many Kulim moved eastward, separating themselves from the great Kulim Empire and forming the Land of All, where everything a person did was done for others than oneself. This lack of focus on oneself was seen in disgust by those of the Kulim Empire, who sought to wage war against the Land of All. However, requiring an actual reason to do so that would benefit each and every individual, they did not go to war until 100 AO, when remnants from both lands - having established a full-on "pleasure society" which disgusted both of previous nations - offended their old homelands to the point where both attacked the pleasure society - Drowning Cups (yes, that's its name) - at the same time. However, Drowning Cups (best name ever), believing that the body was the source of all pleasure, had its citizens naturally train themselves in various martial forms. Quickly and efficiently, Drowning Cups defeated their neighbors. The Land of All gave up almost instantly, while the Kulim Empire refused to back down. Eventually, the Empire's whole structure was completely destroyed. In the modern day, it now is a land of constant everyone-for-themselves warfare called Tyrao, meaning "love of envy".

Drowning Cups gave birth to an individual named Trisk. Trisk, understanding well the bliss that could come with self-empowerment but believing there to be more to master than just the body, had a dream which changed his life forever. He saw a Kulim bursting into flame, regaining his prior form but with immortal enhancements, and proclaiming, "I am whole." Trisk then journeyed throughout the three nations, speaking of his dream to others. He founded a nation ruled by those having achieved immortal status, Djinns, which has its youth dip themselves in Djinn-blessed waters at adulthood, making it easier for them to achieve Djinn status. Following procedures shown to him in further dreams, Trisk became the first Djinn. He believed his dreams were a goft from Ao, which has caused emnity towards his nation - Djinndom (What? I'm not joking.) - by those in the Land of All. The most recent nation, ruled by Djinn Kings called Ymirs, was established 30 years ago as a "continuously modern society" which would incorporate all cultures in the entire world. Called the Tritornian Ymirites, it was meant to be the World City. In order to make this so, the Ymirs sent their children - called the Gypsies - 15 years ago to discover the entire world. They did not do so, but did discover much of the known world and returned with more tales than anyone wanted to believe. When they came back to their elders, their faces lacked all sense of emotion. The only known reaction they had to the world lay in the tears which continuously streamed down their faces and the words they spoke, "Nothing is ever as it seems." Now, the Ymirs have sent word to all lands they could in the past 5 years, asking them to send their adventuring types to the Tritornian Ymirites, which would be the starting point for all those wishing to put their hands into every problem the world is facing.

It is 184 AO. The adventurers are gathering. Gypsyspace shall be forever changed by their contributions.

This campaign is based on Modern Issues. The Kraken Pirates and their situation ARE based on the Somalia Pirates and theirs, the Yokai are doing what the Chinese are doing, though the whole Logic Gnome weaponry thing just exists in relation to Tritorn. Logic vs Mysticism has been going on for eons but has new importance with the New Age movement. Man vs Nature is a huge thing already and yes, the Hilliandi are based on Furry culture. Milcasinia is based on the Middle East and its modern religions and issues/cultures that are most prevelant. Gypsyspace is NOT a complete clone and its not meant to be, it just exists as something those more attached to the current world instead of the Middle Ages can enjoy. Gypsyspace is time-based on the Age on Empire through the Aquarius Age. It is also a platform that can be adjusted for more issues in our world's future - that's why many regions are not covered.

NOTE: This is NOT all of the information. This post is already TL;DR enough, so it's only a rough draft. You CAN ask me any questions concerning this world if you want and I'd be happy to answer. This thread is for giving me feedback on this idea so far. DO NOT post until you have read ALL OF THIS. I don't want questions already answered in the OP to bulk up the thread, thank you. <3
