It may happen that we will see other locations, however I would not hold my breath as to when. The return of the Weave and the Sundering may complicate their appearance.

. . . . . Thay is a country by the way, not a City. It's also located on the far opposite side of the Faerun Region, so is not something I expect to see any time soon as there is a whole area yet not shown on the map between what we see on the map and Thay (The Elven Court, Cormyr, Netheril just for examples). You already travel to and through the Neverwinter Woods in two areas of the game already, for the old Sharandar Outpost (where you go on the tutorial to get to the new Sharandar in the Feywild) and Vellosk are located in the Neverwinter Woods.

Plus, Valindra's fortress hasn't even been mentioned in the game yet: the Dread Ring, deep whithin Neverwinter Wood. While the Neverwinter Campaign Setting does provide a way into Thay through Evernight, the reflection of Neverwinter in the Shadowfell, getting into the country itself is a challenge for Epic tier tabletop characters.

I believe the Dread Ring is dead/dying.

After Sylora Salm died the dread ring lost much/all of it's power but my memory isn't the best and I haven't read the book in over two years now. *sighs*

I suppose since some time has passed since those events the Dread Ring could, in theory, be rekindled and that could certainly be a venue for future content as Zebular said there's no "Thay City" at all let alone near Neverwinter. As for the Neverwinter Wood, though, it's a large place and you go into it numerous times during the campaign and in Foundry Missions and I'm sure the Devs will continue to add more points of interest within the Neverwinter Wood as more modules come out.

As to where those modules will be taking us, though, I'm afraid you'll have to wait.
Heck all I know about Module 2 is that Pin randomly raves about how cool Module 2 is every time he sees new features but refuses to tell us anything else about it. It feels like having a carrot held in front of you....but being blindfolded. Pin's an evil teaser

*grumbles and mutters about how mean Pin can be*

The Dread Ring isn't dead, it's thriving.

There is a reason it was built in its location: a powerful black dragon is buried deep below. Valindra has her undead army working on unearthing the dragon, then she pretends to bring it back to life and turn it into the mightiest dracolich. The dead dragon's residual magic is what powers the Dread Ring.
