The thing is that the inflation will result in zero changes in purchasing power for the rich who are complaining, completely negating the reason they want it in the first place (which is greed). It just doubles the amount of work you have to do in order to keep up with all the other rich people.
If you can't keep up with the extra work then you join all the other plebs, who have been driven out of the market by inflated prices - which of course makes the game less welcoming to new players, one of the most deadly things that can happen to F2P MMOs.
There is literally no good reason to raise the refinement cap.

Agree. Raising the cap is essentially the same as "printing more money" That is a bad thing for economy which cause more inflation.
people are complaining that the exchange is around 330-375AD per Zen. If the cap is raise, it may hit the cap of 500. While it may be good for Zen players (who convert to AD) it would be bad for everyone else because it will take a lot more AD to buy anything. (the exception is AD store since those prices are fixed)
