Quick question about companions and training

Quick question here: If my pet is ready to level up in the middle of a dungeon, will it keep getting XP even if I send it away? What if I don't? Or put it like this: If I don't send the pet away, can it train twice in a row when I send it away? What if I do send it away? Can it (in theory) have enough XP to train again, once it returns?

Also, what if I have two companions? If I send one away to train and summon the other, will both get XP? And are there any chance both can get XP, even if one is in use and the other on stand-by? (not Idle)?

Thanks.

Only a companion summoned and with you will gain XP, but XP accumulates until you train, so you can train multiple levels at once, like if you wait to begin training until right before you log off. The training time will be additive.

XP gained from running Leadership even while not playing will also be applied to a summoned companion. The one thing I'm not sure about which just occurred to me is whether a companion is considered to have returned when the training timer would expire naturally even if you're offline, or not until you next log in.

You can level multiple companions by rotating them, but only one can gain XP at a time. You can adventure with a companion at max level for utility but work on levelling up another one by summoning it when you turn in quests, complete Leadership tasks, invoke, etc. Some people level new companions entirely through invocation.

Great reply for you there, and agree

Basicaly if your only online for a hour or two, or if your companions next rank does not realy give a big boost, as in gains a new slot, which tbh most dont gain much even with a new slot open.
Then dont send it away for training until just before you log off for the day, your companion, as long as still summoned will keep gaining XP all the time, even if it is say lvl 10 and the xp bar is at lvl 15.
Or if you plan on being online for a fair amount of time another option would be, if you have 2 companions, send 1 for training and while it is away summon the other and get thats ones XP up, and keep switching when one is ready for training.

In my opinon, and from exsperience, you should never send a companion away for training while still playing the game, always wait until you log off for the day and send it for training just before you log, then when you log back the folowing day or whenever, it will be ranked up and ready to play

Ah, thanks. That helps a lot. :) I use to send my companion away for training when I'm in a group dungeon, as I didn't think it was much needed anyway. But now I'll rather keep it, and only send it training when I log off. Btw if the XP-bar has gone up two or three levels without training, does the companion train all levels at once? Or do I have to keep sending it back once it returns? I assume all at once, but want to be sure.

Trains all levels gained. I think it's slightly more time than if you train the levels individually, but so what? You're sleeping :P
I would go to the AH and buy some cheap rank 4 or 5 training runestones if it's a blue or purple companion you want to level rapidly.

Thanks, it's nice to know. And no, I don't want to train rapidly. Far from it, I like taking my time. ;)

Received an ingame email that said I can gain addition xp for my companion if I go to some site. Is that true? And if so, what is the site as I deleted the message.

Unless the site was for http://gateway.playneverwinter.com

Consider it a scam and avoid it like the plague.

The Gateway, however, is legit and can be used to do many in-game functions while off line or with your mobile phone. There is a new mini game coming as part of the gateway called Sword Coast Adventures, allowing you to use your companions to adventure in the mini game and earn xp. However, its still a few weeks from release.

This leads me to believe your email is a bit premature and most likely bogus.

I got that e-mail as well Mikivaup. It's about what Sock said, Sword Coast Adventures. It's a off-line (I think) game for companions only. I went out to look it over, and it has not gone live yet. I guess someone jumped the gun on sending out the notice as my e-mail made it sound like it was up and running.
