Student of the Sword Bug

Hello fellow GWFs! Today I noticed that the paragon feat Student of the Sword was bugging out and was also proccing on me. I'm not sure as to what is causing it but it seems to proc after I crit with Restoring Strike. I checked my stats as well and it does reduce my defense.

Has anybody else experienced this or is able to replicate?

    Geez looks like another broken feat. Haven't noticed but I'll look out for it now. Thanks for the heads up.

    I have already reported this issue. Hoping for a fix soon. Just thought the GWF community needed a heads up :)

    I'll keep an eye out for that as that would SUCK to have that debuff on my GWF... Yowzer!

    I am not able to log in right now but are you sure that icon is not Weapon mastery Passive?

    I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that since you crit on resotring strike it heals you for % of damage probably healing you as a crit? Which procs the feat since in a sense you "crit" yourself?

    This needs to be fixed!!!

    I can confirm this. After reading this thread, i went to the dummies and test it. Restoring Strike does indeed proc SotS on ourself and lower our Defense. Yet another bad GWF bug..

    While this bug is very annoying it isn't really game-breaking in PVE. The debuff only lasts 5 seconds and can only stack once. In PVP, this could mean a free stack for another GWF. I'm wondering if our other skills can proc this. Gonna do some testing when I get home tonight.

    Yes I can confirm it... if you have "student of the sword"... and u land a critical strike with "restoring strike".... it will apply one stack of armor reduction on yourself aswell... very annoying. In my case it reduced my armor and damage resistance by 15% for 5 seconds. And since I have the feat "steely defence", it also reduced my power for around 150 points during those 5 seconds. It occurred on dummies, real mobs, and pvp.
    I hope they fix this issue asap, since "student of the sword" is a huge damage boost for us and our teammates, and it is almost a mandatory feat in any GWF build.

    Oh yeah totally forgot about Steely Defence. How annoying! I hope there will be a fix soon but there are bigger issues that need attention. Like when your TAB skill decides to do nothing in the middle of a crucial moment!

    Confirmed that this is still not fixed as of 11/7. Restoring strike is also not the only skill that does it. I can get battle fury to do this to me as well. Going to hit the test shard and see if it still causes this issue there.

    Test shard shows restoring strike not fixed, in fact, my drow debuff was applying to myself on occasion. I couldn't get the new version of battle fury to debuff me, hopefully that means it's fixed.

    Well spotted and painful to see the figures decline on oneself. This definitely needs fixing.

    (Testing on dummies my base defence went down from 2117 to 1799, impacting defence mitigation and a reduction in base power from 7229 to 7165 due to a single critical hit with restoring strike)

    yes, whenever you use restoring strike and critical on it, your healing will be a critical hit too, on yourself. it triggers the debuff on you.

    other thing that works "similar" is lifedrinker, the heal sometimes is deflected by yourself too

    Still not fixed. Not a big problem for PvE since most of the time you AoE and RS is rarely needed.
    But for PvP sentinels... it's a huge problem. Hope they fix it soon.

    Hopefully it gets fixed now that it has gotten some attention. I had no idea this happened before, but this is a pretty bad bug.

    Actually it is annoying in pve for me.. Quite alot.. I run alot of CN and take Agro of bosses.. And especially on Draco I have to take Agro and self heal until the party is ready.. Maybe 3-5 mins.. A few times this debuff has caused me to die.. Given I'm a destroyer GWF.. The 15% defense debuff can mean the difference between a wipe or not

    Ok so do yourself a favor.. Don't think anymore

    Maybe u should try doing a 4 man CN run as a GWF and see at Draco how much u have to solo there .. In fact for the pt to have better chances you also should pull a wiz and some extra adds solo to help them out.. Then see how bad a 15% defensive debuff is..

    You got killed by them with their damage, not the debuff increased damage. 15% defensive debuff are max ~ 7% DR. So you can't say that's a difference with and without the debuff.

    every bit is important when you are pushing your character, and there is a huge difference of having 80% dr during unstoppable or 73%
