Basic Alchemical keeps disappearing

I keep trying to level up my alchemist and numerous time the following has happened. When I finish the potion making there will, for a split section, show 2 things to take from the task being completed, the potion and the Basic Alchemical Research. And then, in the blink of an eye, the basic alchemical research will disappear. Now I'm completely stuck on level 4 alchemy, nothing ever gives me the basic alchemical I need and I just keep making stuff over and over with no experience because, for some reason, nothing in Alchemy gives you experience but the things that require basic alchemical. That might have been a bad idea.

I often get a visual delay on completing tasks, so the reward from the previous thing I finished briefly flashes on whatever I'm currently collecting. Happens cross-profession too, so I might for a moment see a shirt when I'm actually collecting a Leadership task.

When this happens with Alchemy experiments, it momentarily looks like the experiment succeeded when it failed. The opposite can also happen where you just see the potion at first and then the recipe and knowledge item appear as well.

I'm averaging a slightly worse than 50% success rate on experiments, which are the only way to gain the knowledge to do the research to progress. So, your problem sounds like it would possibly be solved by doing more experiments.
