Yes you have to own it, yes it's consumed.

Also, you can only transmute stuff from your own class, you can't use things from other classes or things that are "Any Class".

how come I saw a CW having a shirt ( cloth shirt ) transmute to an ornate shirt ,for DC i think, which isnt usable by CW

If you mean the actual Shirt slot, then they either used a bug, or it was just one from their class with a similar/same name as a DC one. As far as I know, all the shirts/pants for each class look identical, regardless of level.

diff type have diff looks, ornate is like a chainmail worn by clerics I think, while shirt is just plain shirt from tailoring worn by CW, maybe they used bug, because last night I bought a white one and tried to transmute it for my CW but failed to do so

Yeah, each class has their own look for their shirt/pants.

If a CW was using a Chainmail one, then they must've used a bug.

Costs way too much to use. Waste of AD.
Feature sounds awesome, too bad the cost is too exorbitant to be bothered with.

True, IMO they should really lower the price of transmuting, since their goal on module is to make each individual free from customizing their toon and each should be unique, but having 60k per transmute is WAYY too much really.

I guess I can see the cost being viable if you're never ever going to change your clothes ever again, but I agree, it's not a decision entered into lightly as it stands.

If you use the change appearance window and equip an item not of your class, the appearance will be that of an equivalent item for your class (I was using all the pink bound starter dye from my guys on items to send to my girl).

Xmog isnt really worth the cost or effort.

Since the item gets consumed you need to keep several in your bank to xmog when you get a new item.

Which is total bs, imo. Add in the ad cost and there is seriously no reason to even bother.

Needless to say, i am very disappointed with how xmog is done in this game. Seems like devs actively tried to make it as difficult as possible.

I mean can you imagine the cost of xmog'ing one t2 set into another?
