they help you heaal and also they help you pray fi you are not near a campfire lazy people usually use them in enclave when they log in to pray cause it is ridiculous the amount of time that it takes in enclave with your 110% mount to reach the place to pray (?)
Everything works out in the end . If it hasn't worked out yet, it isn't the end...

I use them in enclave all the time because it might kill me to ride 20-30 seconds to the actual fire here. I love to log in, click my alter, pray and log off... Just saves time. I my portable alter

I love everyone else's portable altars in PE.
In all seriousness, you get so many as drops there's no need to hoard them, so you might as well save some time, if you can't leech off one somebody else has just used.

Try using them when you are in a quest.

Why not just log off at the the main PE campfire?
Because the AH and mailbox is where all the action's at! (With possibly a quick stop in the market to buy MOAR solvent.)
