This new "event"...

..is horrible in so many ways.

Can it be even called Event? You talk to a NPC, then go and press F and you are done.

Rewards? A cosmetic, a dye..and that's it?.

The Valindra's invasion would be a an 8 out of 10 compared to this.

It's just a wee themed celebration that ties in with the American July 4th holiday.

I won't be able to check it out until later, but I thought it was cool that from the sounds of things, even completely new players can fully participate. Since it's just cosmetics and fun stuff, nobody gets an advantage.

I think this event is to celebrate that neverwinter will get day and night cycles, am just speculating tho, dont take my word for it.
And i dont mind having a simple activity.
What do u wanted from this event, a free 110% mount? a lv 30 companion? free AD?
If you dont like it, you can choose not to participate.

So... let me get this straight... you're complaining because they gave you something absolutely free, that you didn't have to do anything for?

So... the double ADs doesn't do anything for you?

It's also an incentive to login and do the event all 5 days so you can get the headpiece.

Also, you DO have to fire off one of the 5 mortars around PE to complete the daily part of the event...

I enjoyed the Valindra invasion. I had fun playing it. But I had absolutely no delusions that my (at the time) level 20 DC was going to get anything good out of it compared to somebody's level 60 CW.

Doing something that's basically a repeat fetch quest not remotely dependent on power, skill, gear score, whatever - that's just a nice little perk.

Like I said, the fireworks just tied in with the American holiday. It's cute.

The double AD event is nice.

I'm talking about the Firework thingy. It can't be called an event, it just isn't.

I don't mind this event, people need to chill. It's double AD that should be good enough, and it's not like this event is taking up time.

Exactly. It is NOT an event.

It's an event in game terminology.
It's a celebration that will last a few days and only occur once a year.
You log in, participate and get some goodies while those few days last.
That is an event.

It’s fine. We just had the Gauntlgrym opening and Valindra’s invasion, and some of the items still aren’t working from that. Dyes are hard to mess up and something a lot of people have been asking for.

Looking at definitions of "event" (and ignoring sporting events, or medical conditions, or science experiment results), I see a number of dictionaries say something like "a social gathering or activity" or "something that occurs in a certain place during a particular interval of time".

Sounds like an event to me. (yes, it's not a Major Event!!!!!™, but that doesn't make it not an event. /shrug)

As laggy and dumb as the invasion event was, it was 10x better than this. Better than nothing, I suppose...

Wow...they're giving you free stuff in honor of the US Independence Day tomorrow plus double rough AD (which means leadership and Dailies) and you're complaining?

I don't get people, man, I really *really* don't. *sigh*

One copied cosmetic from another game after you press F on a mortar.

Also, double rough AD is totally another thing.

Personally, I'd be happier if they did nothing for holidays that have no purpose existing in the world. This makes zero zense in the lore, to my knowledge. Feel free to correct me, lore HAMSTER.

I guess we can expect a fat red suited orc around christmas time.

Except you need 5 coins to get the mask. Or is there some magical way of getting the 5 coins by pressing F over and over.

If they'd incorporated it more with the lore, it'd have been better, but the majority of MMOs have holidays that roughly equal the ones in the US.

It'd be more to lore if it was a 6-pointed star, since that's more in keeping with Lliira.

to be fair to Cryptic, 4th July celebrations have always been lame in every game I've played. for one thing, not every country/culture celebrates it, for another, most people are outside BBQ or w/e. If Christmas/end of year celebration sucks, then I'd start complaining.

Actually I studied the mechanics to the Valindra Invasion. Any level got even rewards. It had nothing to do with how much damage you did or if you even hit anything at all. You only needed to be nearby "engaged in" combat when something died to get a possible reward. I found this out by accident as I left myself up on the ledge nearby the shrine location to have a smoke. When I came back I had a pile of enchants to loot that I had done zero combat for. I never said anything here because I didn't want people to treat it like an exploit and start hanging around and not helping. After my smoke and grabbing my loot I went back to trying to kill stuff because I wanted the kill count achievement boosts which I got some 500+ kills on each character from. But in the end it was actually my level 18 that got the most loot from the event. (two blue dogs). Not my level 60.
A beautiful death awaits you...

It doesn't make zero sense in the lore.
Lliira is the goddess of celebrations and festivals.
Coordinating in-game holiday events is always, fun in my book. Better than just doing the exact same stuff week after week and month after month.
And adds to the story experience.
Sure, it's just fluff.
But, I like fluff. I'd take more fluff over more crunch any day.
