I don't see many folks that played D&D on this here thread.
We used to roll against each other to get loot back in the day...unless the loot was plate for fighter, robes for mage...etc etc.
Kind of like it is NOW.
Sounds like people are getting greedy and they want a chance to roll for all gear regardless of class....ummm NO.
You have a 100% chance to win a piece of class specific gear. Better than 20% with the original system.
I have no idea who you played with but table top D&D was never like that. In my 30years of playing the game never once have I had to roll vs another party member for a piece of gear, and I have played with some stingy DMs. (ie low magic games)
Not happening broseph , we like it that way . No way my cool set piece that I'll sell for 500k is going BoP rofl what are you smoking son ?
... duderinhos like u... are just a shame. lets say most expensive GF t2 armor drops, and i got it already, how can u even think of needing on that item (yes, even if its 500k + in AH and yes, even if only you can press need), its just fairplay, and honesty to your teammates. If u dont want to equip an item, that leaves u with the same intention as the rest of the group: i wanna sell this.
be the better man, pick greed, roll with all 4 other members for that item, with everybody havin a fair 20% chance to win.
thats why in these days, dont even bother to run CN/T2 without a good group and total greed policy.

What is your chance to get an item if all your group rolls need or greed? - 20%. What is the chance of boss dropping an item of your class if your group is 5 different classes? - 20%. If you have 2 or more persons of the same class in group, yes, their chance to get an item is slightly less, because they will take another roll among them. Fair price for kicking GF/GWF out of the groups if you ask me.
edit: I must add, I've never witnessed a single argument over loot since the new loot system went live. While before that... Strange, isn't it?

Well, in case that chance for a 2.000.000 AD TR item is the same as the chance for a 100.000 AD GF item, each GF would be happy about your stupid "argumentation".
And well, by entering a dungeon with a ~0% chance to get a T2 item for a class, all party members of that class will be happy too.
If you want people to stay for the match end even when you're sitting on a 600-10 score and you've decided to be ***-hats and spawn-camp, you need to give them a reason. Punishing them is not the answer. That's just pouring salt-acid into an already bleeding wound.
And well, by entering a dungeon with a ~0% chance to get a T2 item for a class, all party members of that class will be happy too.
What are you even talking about m8? Where did you get this 0% BS from? You enter the dungeon, you kill the boss, you got the loot. The class of the item dropped is determined by a simple 1d5 roll (where 5 is the number of classes). Simple math. And now you got the nerve to call someone stupid?
Well, in case that chance for a 2.000.000 AD TR item is the same as the chance for a 100.000 AD GF item, each GF would be happy
Again, what are you talking about? The prices on AH are determined by SUPPLY AND DEMAND. The more TR are there, the more will be demand for the TR items, and the more the prices for them will rise. On other hand, there are less GF, thus the prices for their gear will be lower. Getmi?
edit: And as somebody running the only char and being a GF, I don't care whether the rogue has just got his 2 000 000 AD item. You do? - reroll and stop crying.

This being a key point: the AH value for items from various classes is wildly different.
DC and GF are already more demanding to play than the CW and TR, and just as in any MMOs there are always far fewer Tanks and Healers than DPS. Now add to this the fact that your loot drops will sell for a fraction of the price of the DPS classes, and you have made a difficult situation worse. After all why should any DC or GF play a dungeon where the most valuable items will always go to the DPS classes, regardless of whether they need it as an upgrade (which is fair enough, and they should get priority) or they simply want to sell it for mega-AD?
So players will vote with their feet. I know that with the current system now that I have decent gear for my DC and GF, I will simply be playing my TR and CW so that I have the best chance of any valuable Epic drops. However, with a BoP on NEED and BoE on GREED system where everyone has a fair shot if no-one needs to equip the gear, I would still run my DC and GF, even on dungeons that don't drop any upgrades for my character.
But if Cryptic wants to kill off the relatively few remaining DCs and GF doing runs with non-guildies, and so hurt the longevity of the game, then they are going the right way about it...

mconosrep, I think you hit the nail on the head - I know that I can get into a dungeon or skirmish team very quickly on my GF, but it is typically an experiment in frustration, as others zip ahead of me to chests or skill nodes, then get impatient because they seem to forget that I have no sprint ability or my DPS just isn't as high.
My DC is currently level 57, and soloing has been a chore. While my tank companion isn't the brightest of companions, he's reliable and won't complain to me if I can't get a heal off because I'm being attacked.
I just wish they'd tweak aggro and some other abilities a bit more - give the GF some sort of faster movement, (or just let us use mounts in all dungeons), and improve DCs' at-wills. Maybe give that spear at-will that everyone drops ASAP a much faster rate of attack or perhaps a useful debuff - like a repel effect or something.

And here is the reason:
Oh, and you must be the smart person here then. Must be humble as well, I suppose.
