this comment doesn't really add to the discussion, but I just have to say.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 3.5 edition, the wild west of DnD. I had some very great times and indeed ended up in a campaign where the majority of my players were power gamers to the max. I had to create interesting and deadly creatures to compete with them as well as giving them abilities that were flat out not standard at all. Yet even though every battle was nuts, we had a great time that went well with the story I had to change and evolve eto fit their... tastes...
In my next campaign, I had to ban some books to prevent them from doing some really ridiculous stuff because of ambiguous writing
