I stopped pugging at level 35 when I found out that this game does require a tad of communication and team work to accomplish certain dungeons. My deepest sympathies for you if you are still trying to pug.
Basic human nature. The top 1-2% of players might theorycraft their way to a solution, but they are the top players for a reason. For the rest of the players the basic, easy, quickfit answer to "66% uptime on AS" is...2 clerics, coz that's 133% uptime! Woo.
Well his delivery might be a bit rough but he has a valid point. There is way too much crying on here and not enough talking about how to adapt to the changes.
ill predict the future for you people that pug & casual gamers, will cry about queue times beeing even worse with the changes to cleric, and with good reason! who would want to sit and wait for 2 clerics showing up for 1hour+
This butthurt over a 4-5 seconds loss of downtime on AS?
Oh god...we can't chain pull the entire dungeon anymore..better uninstall the game and make 400 threads crying about how AS is destroyed. Please get real.
Is this Turslo on another account?

hehe, that will probably be the solution for a while. staggering astral shields
Their is this feature in the game..it's called a Guild. It's like where people all group up and do stuff together. They also don't need on every item in the game that drops.
oh and wait..are you ready?
They might even work towards getting a certain Class geared before others to enhance the over-all productivity of that group of players.
No..it's a statement. When the game comes back online go find a Guild that you feel you would best fit in with. They all have descriptions of the type of players they are looking for.
Well his delivery might be a bit rough but he has a valid point. There is way too much crying on here and not enough talking about how to adapt to the changes.
if you read the other thread on AS (yeah i know it's lengthy) in this cleric section, there are quite a few posts of possible workarounds, although as of yet none of the options seem to be quite enough.
I'd be fine with astral shield nerf if some of the other heals were improved a bit (e.g. halve the cd on bastion of health, increase the amount it heals because right now it heals 1/8 to 1/10 of anyone's max hp). Something to make them more attractive options so we'd actually USE the skills.
Most responses to the upcoming patch aren't to do with the issue of nerfing of AS.
It's to do with "How do I keep myself and teammates alive when it's on cd?".
Well his delivery might be a bit rough but he has a valid point. There is way too much crying on here and not enough talking about how to adapt to the changes.
Not so! I have adapted - levelling my GWF. Hope I don't have to wait too long for a healer in lfg queues though......

Nymesis: So what you are saying is "F2P games should force people to form guilds of likeminded highly-skilled individuals who are all free at the same time and who are all able to dedicate the same amount of time, and who all have different desired classes, and if not, then LOL @ U NUB"?
That seems awfully restrictive. I think you're simply in a good guild and have forgotten what the rest of the game is like.

I don't even know what to say to this. Are you aware of how ridiculous this sounds? Anyone who has ever played a MMO seeks to find a Guild, one of like minded individuals who are all on the same page as far as skill, playing time, language and so on.
Put in a little research and find a proper guild for your self so you can actually enjoy this game...because its a good game.
Hahahahahha oh I just...really? Have you been to protectors enclave recently? Or..like, ever? How many of the people spamming 8.5k GS TR LFG and so on do you think are in a well organised guild? What, do you think, is the percentage of people in Neverwinter that are in organised likeminded guilds with the coordination and gearing to tackle high end dungeons regularly?
I think you've somehow gotten "yourself, in any MMO" confused with "other people, in any MMO, esp. f2p MMOs".
I don't even know what to say to this. Are you aware of how ridiculous this sounds? Anyone who has ever played a MMO seeks to find a Guild, one of like minded individuals who are all on the same page as far as skill, playing time, language and so on.

You are wrong! there is alot of people out there, that dont have the time you do, that want to log in queue for a dungeon & then log out again, people who play this casualy wont have time nor will be accepted into a guild, so what you are saying to them is quit the game or find a guild? what you think is normal other people might not, this wont hit you, but it will for sure hit alot of casuals.

Not all guilds are the same, not all guilds are uber elitist power gamers with high end PC's, wireless headsets, with huge pipe bandwidths with 40 hours a day to play the game. Also, not all players have the same skill sets or sometimes meet someone they can learn from. Those same guilds you say to research more than likely wouldn't accept some joe schmoe in their guild.
You say you can solo heal CN? I would love to see you solo heal it after these changes. If you do, please FRAP it and post it on youtube so we can all learn from your uber narcissistic elite self.
Now I agree its a good game, but they swung the nerf bat too hard on clerics. Heck, you can sit in the Enclave and watch the zone spams... Tons of TR's and to a lesser degree GWF's ALL LFG and then you see the other spam, how people are all looking for A cleric, let alone two clerics for groups. That in of itself should tell you that playing a DC is frustrating now they want to nerf their healing even more?
Oh yes I pug too, I also run with people that friended me and run with them, been invited to other guilds. My guild is more of a casual player base, some skilled players too. But most are just now hitting the 50's so it will be a couple of weeks before my guild catches up.
No, I disagree, they should upped some other realistic healing to the cleric, its bad enough we have some STUPID reason that our own heals are not as effective on our own characters.
BTW it doesn't take any skill to run around as a cleric and spam sunburst and toss AS when you can.
Seriously, I get the impression that the devs really despise clerics, and if this is something from 4E DnD, I can see why it failed so miserably and WoTC is already working on 5E. IMHO, they took a serious dump on clerics.
If you are so awesome and amazing, you should PUG and help educate the masses, however, I feel that is something you just wouldn't ever do.
Yes I have belong to power gamer elite guilds before, I know how they think, how they talk down on regular players. Heck you can see them talk trash in the PVP matches a lot.
I am that casual gamer everyone seems to be talking about. I have a young daughter and two jobs, so I fit in twenty or thirty minutes of play a day (If I can). I love the game-play and -style and have really enjoyed the weeks it's taken me to finally reach 55. In all other MMO's I have loved healing, and even just switching from WoW to NW I had to make adaptations. Healing in NW is about damage mitigation, it isn't really about restoring HP's. Whining about changes is normal, just accept what has happened and trust things will work out soon.
That being said, we could use a stronger toolbox of heals and perhaps a revamping of some of our feats, there seem to be quite a few useless options. Soothing light does fairly well, but I really hate using all my DP to barely heal more than a potion by the time all is said and done.
Tanks and DPS will learn to dodge more, as has been said, and maybe have a little self awareness in high-intensity situations. Don't be afraid to use your potions! They really are going to be the most consistent heal on the battlefield.
Also, with my schedule, it is impossible to get into a guild worthwhile.
And please, don't call the developers incompetent. YOU make a game as fun and involving as this, FOR FREE.

I was solo healing a 4 man CN on the test shard. I can say it's really hard to keep my allies alive and we'll need to coordinate new strategies for tanking/cc.

You can **** well believe I am going to try and solo heal it after the patch.
Have you guys even thought about how different everything is going to be after this patch? Not just for us Clerics. GWF/GF are going to be able to hold more aggro.
If they make the Dracolich fight where mobs CAN'T be knocked off then obviously a lot is going to change.
The game as we all know it right now will be changed.
I was solo healing a 4 man CN on the test shard. I can say it's really hard to keep my allies alive and we'll need to coordinate new strategies for tanking/cc.
Can stuff still be knocked off ledges? They didn't say anything in notes but I was wondering if maybe some changes were made.
I solo heal CN...good attempt to be little me though. Try again.
I absolutely love people like you that talk and blabber off at that mouth and have no clue about anything.
Wow you are so awesome!
On a serious note, a lot of people are stuck in the mind set of double dc parties. The irony is that it's actually non-dc classes that prefer to take double dc. Imho in any dungeon it's faster to have only one dc.
I don't have a solid opinion yet about the changes, I will wait till I hit the test server. However I feel nerfs are uncalled for. I felt dc was a pretty good class but I never felt overpowered. Our dps is horrible, our heals are mediocre and there's very few viable skills. (sunburst/AS are a necessity)
Imho the easiest way to achieve class balance is to make any class OP in his area. They should've just made gwf an aoe monster and gf a tank/control king. That would've been great for everyone. Instead what they do is slowly push everyone into mediocrity.
Having a longer delay on AS is not that bad but also it doesn't really serve a purpose. I mean what's the point? It will just cause more RNG-based combat, which I'm not a fan of.
I never liked pvp but I know I won't be stepping in there after the changes. I have 3k+ def and even in AS I can die in a couple of seconds to well geared dps. Now all they have to do is wait for the AS cd and one shot me. Not to mention those potions on the map are better healers then me. no thx
I'm not truely QQ'ing just yet but I'm not too thrilled about the changes. It feels like some nerfs with no higher meaning in the meta of the game.

the biggest problem as i see it, wont hit you as you do play a cleric and when you get to tier2 dungeons, you will see the impact the new changes will do to pugs/casuals, as a cleric it isent a problem with the queue times, but ask a casual TR or GWF or even a GF, how long they have to sit in queue atm, we all know that pugs cant be as organized as "guild runs with teamspeak" so what i think will happen is, casuals that want to do tier2's now need 2 clerics to have 100% astral shield to complete the dungeons, ofcause i cant say for sure what the queue times / or zone spamming will be, but im guessing it will take twice the amount of time to find 2 clerics than one, this is my arguement for this to not hit live (hope its not too much of a wall of text)

tank gwf with 7 greater tenebrous enchantment is amazingly fun. you should try that next .
Completely OT but sounds interesting Are you following any particular build for this or something of your own making? Why the tenebrous enchants? Everything I've been reading seems to suggest even greater Tene enchants are not really worth it?

IMHO, I think the nerfs came from the PVP crying group and the devs are more catering to them than actual pve aspect. Same for rogues, as I have a 60 in both classes (cleric and rogue), and the ONLY time execution was exceedingly awesome, was PVP. Doing it on a boss mob at the end barely scratches it (elite T2 dungeons). Which their (the devs) only solution to make a boss mob challenging is adding endless hordes of adds, which seems to be a summoning ability only they can have. I would love to be able to constantly summon all of my companions continuously from a seemingly in exhaustible supply. Which most tacts seems to stem from how can we knock them off somewhere, or some other strat (or exploits) to neutralize them or the boss.
You know its bad when you would rather get rid of the mobs or boss than fight and collect the treasure they drop.
^^Reason I always play a healer, queue times are typically quick , I often don't have time to wait thirty minutes for a dungeon. I honestly don't expect to get to T2's, I don't have a consistent play schedule and can never guarantee that I will be able to play at any given time. Most of the people I have met playing the game are courteous, and I'm glad there is an active community here to keep improving the game. The developers do watch these forums, they are well aware of what their constituents want. Believe it or not, they play the game to! The more people complain about an issue the quicker they will look into it, even if they choose to do nothing about it or change it in an unpopular way. Likely, they already have plans for changes to come, and this is just the first move. Remember, this is BETA, and even after the game goes live there will be plenty of updates and hot-fixes to correct anything overlooked or passed up for more important issues.
Have patience, the game isn't going away; the world isn't ending; this to shall pass. Now that my daughter is fast asleep in my arms, I'm going to log on and finish that stupid mount hotenow quest line.
