and the people working on cosmetics and the zen store are most likely working on just that, not bug fixes.
As if theyd waste any precious lockbox design time to make bug fixes.

Cosmetics and store updates are almost certainly handled by different people than the ones who do bug fixes and class changes. Should the teams that do the first two take vacation time while the last two get fixed?
Don't tell me you don't know about.... ~drum roll~
"Departments"
So if your product is going to <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> you wont send a memo to stop everything. Let fix are <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> first before we ask for more money?

I see this argument quite often and I believe your logic is flawed. Every company in the world has constrained resources. It is the management of a company that decides how those resources are allocated. True, it can't just be turned on and off like a light switch because of the hiring process and training, but I think it is painfully obvious that Neverwinter is overstaffed in the design department and understaffed technically. The AH bugs, exploits, non-working feats, powers and agro mechanics. These are incredibly important issues and at the very least it is bad Public Relations to release new fluff when the guts are on life support.
They need more competent programmers and less artists based upon my observations. I'm still playing this game, but I'm downloading Dragon's Prophet tonight and might look at Rift again in a couple weeks. I suspect there are thousands like me.
Like I'll always say, Fan-boy Money wont last for ever.
I wonder how many irate parents with credit card bills in one hand will be pulling the plug on their kid's neverwinter account int he next few weeks... It will take another 30 days or so for that to take affect but you gotta imagine its going to happen to some people.

Your argument is also quite flawed because it assumes that PW knew their game was in such a state of disrepair when they made hiring/staffing decisions. Clearly they did not or they would have fixed the issues that have popped up in the game in the last few weeks before they popped up. At this point its too late to quickly hire programmers(they wouldn't know the code well enough to bug fix it) and let go artists, so what is going on is perfectly reasonable.
So if your product is going to <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> you wont send a memo to stop everything. Let fix are <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> first before we ask for more money?
If you owned a business and you decided to halt production of every product you have just because there's a mess up with one.. you won't be owning a business for very long.
So if your product is going to <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> you wont send a memo to stop everything. Let fix are <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> first before we ask for more money?
No. No I don't imagine they would have some employees purposefully working less or sending them home early in response to some programmers having to work harder on completely separate issues. That doesn't make sense.
Also there are a large number of people who aren't coming here to complain about how the product is "going to <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font>" but wondering what is next for them to actually enjoy. Or have you not seen the threads on the topics of new outfits and companions?
So, you all feel like right now is the perfect time to add a new item to the store. Because everything is just perfect in the world of NeverWinter.
To everyone buying zen for the new items, How does it feel to play on top of your own <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font>?
Except it's not a new zen item...
A world to defend
A city to protect
innocents to save
"Why?" They ask "they hate you"

Well, I acknowledged exactly your point in my reply. Of course its not instantaneous. Regardless of if they knew or not from closed beta (up for debate), I think we can both agree these are serious problems and need to be fixed as soon as possible. The release of new Zen items creates the perception of a lack understanding for the issues people are facing, and afterall perception is reality. In the end it's their game and they can run it however they want. Just seems like bad business to me.
I'm guessing they are in bad shape financially, because otherwise they would not have released this at this delicate time.

All items that have been released in the Zen store were around in Closed Beta and Alpha. It looks like they were taken out to do rollouts along the way.
You all give me headaches. Quit assuming you have any clue what their priorities are, what their staffing is like, or that you know how to run a game and/or gaming company. Clearly if you did, we'd be playing and *****ing on your forums.
Well..then the people designing "cosmetic" and "Zen content" are apparently working and can code 3000X faster than the rest of the dev team. Besides the exploits and a very limited amount of other bugs...what have they done other than drop a new zen item every other day?

Oh cmon, clearly the guys on the Internet forums know it better than the people actually working on the game!
I'm surprised we still haven't gotten any posts from people with "years of experience in software development". Seriously, *sigh*, MMO forums are all the same.
The whole separate department thing, although I understand your argument, all these "cosmetic" and zen store items were indeed around in Closed Beta.
Cryptic just took those zen items out on purpose and stripped the zen store down so upon "Open Beta" release, it seemed to not have many items, so they could have you buy those items first, then the items they took out in Closed Beta, they could add in later to have you buy more.
I view this as a very cheap tactic, they seriously took out like 4-5 of the more exotic looking mounts, just to have you buy the very limited selection, just to hold out and release more so they could "entice" players who were either holding out to buy or people who've already bought, to buy more...
All you people trying to defend them, I respect your efforts, but they really don't have a design team working hard to give us more "content" for the zen store... they just withheld a majority of the items they already had in place in order to milk us for more money rather then giving us the full selection upon Open Beta.
They get no sympathy from me with the whole "Zen Store Updates" they really need to fix some major bugs first before they want to have us spend more money, 50% of these bugs should have been fixed even before Open Beta, and I knew when playing Closed Beta that these bugs would cause some huge problems, 2 of those bugs have already shut down the Auction House, and since they don't have the "technology" to freeze the AH timers, many many players have lots out on LOTS of their items and potential A.D. due to them shutting the AH down and not freezing the timers...
These kind of bugs that they should have fixed before Open Beta have really messed up a lot of innocent gamer's experiences...

This sums it up, and was exactly what i was thinking. The problem isnt "Departments" its Management.
Like its been said, they completely understaffed the core programmers and overstaffed on artists and fluff makers. Then again this IS PWI. Fanboys will fanboy, but the history speaks for itself.
Well..then the people designing "cosmetic" and "Zen content" are apparently working and can code 3000X faster than the rest of the dev team.
Because trying to figure out the bugs in large, somewhat complex systems takes the same amount of work as sticking three new tints in a "dye pack". Or attaching the standard "companion" code to a spider model instead of a wolf. Yep.
(not that I'm going to buy either of those things. Doesn't stop me from realizing that they're likely very trivial to put together.)
Whatever excuses you want to make for PWE, it's quite simply BAD PR to be adding stuff to your store when the game is full of bugs, as is witnessed by the number of people commenting about it.
The reality of what staff they have in what department doesn't come into it. And you know what, some of them realise it's bad PR, or why else would they have disabled comments on the news post?

I see mostly a small minority of May 2013 alts complaining about it *shrug*

You make the flawed assumption that these bugs were known. If they were known, don't you think they would have been a priority? People keep saying the AH bug was reported in closed beta without any non-photoshopped proof for instance. Someone said it in another thread and its totally true, I'm probably paraphrasing but it was along the line of "you need a release to find real bugs." and its totally true, no one is going to waste their time hacking or finding game killing bugs for profit in a simulation that is going to be wiped. The fact that its not going to be wiped is the best testing they could possibly have.
Comments
They don't have to fix the whole game before bringing more cosmetics out.
if everything was going as plan! <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> hit the fan a few week back..schedules has change!!!

True ^
It doesn't mean that business will stop coz one Department was still fixing the issue. Business is business and must go on.
