dude i spent 980k ad for that thing...and it's awesome. simple solution? put down the server for a week and focus on the log.
this is exactly what should be done - check the SQL logs and seperate the ones who spent AD for the cat (980k in the shop) from the ones who have traded the cat. If they traded the cat -> take a closer look. It wont be easy, but i assume u can make a script for it to auto detect potential scammers - and then put your hands on it to sort it out by humans.
This is the only way to get rid of this exploited cats.
And btw. (adressing the ah negative value bug):
Its really ridiculous that the programmer didnt make use of "absolute" in C++ ( I assume your server software is written with that ). See http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/cmath/abs/
Who the hell wouldnt validate a input value? I m starting to think , that u guys have sorted out the programming section to china to save money. Anyway many bugs in the game are just so... beginner like...
And last but not least:
Release more patches!!! This 3-4 lines "patches" are like nothing compared to the many bugs and balancing issues the game has.
But if you look at the sheer amount of folks who are praising them in Zone chat it kinda makes the straw poll that was taken on the forums irrelevant , meaning a full wipe would send this game into a death spin.
.
/sigh...Yeah, yeah I know everyone but the pro-wipers are idiots.
So basically your saying its a company that feeds off ignorant people and their money.
Founders starting with 2,000,000 astral and people being able to buy zen and convert to astral has effected the market more than anything else has and will.
The immediate influx of such a massive amount of AD set the economy on its heels from day one. Whereas a full server wipe is the correct answer, the fact that people would then lose things bought with RL money since the launch would make for extremely sour individuals (and rightly so).
This launch should never have been titled a beta as it is not now nor has it ever truly been. This is a soft launch, the inclusion/release of drow to the populace (and probably rangers as well) will cause a bump in population, but nowhere near what a true release would, since the release already happened.
They are expensive. You can buy them for a little under 1 million AD from an NPC and then, since the exploiters obtained the AD for free, they sold them to the general population for a fraction of that price. Simple .

Not as simple as you think. They obviously have no use for selling it under the exploiting account, so they must've first transferred to an alt. But of course, they also transferred cats to other not-their-alt people. Because of that, it makes it difficult to trace which is the alt, and which are innocent people.
Bann 3rd world countries without internet laws such as Russia, Bulgaria, Brasil, Mexico, China etc., problem solved instantly. If certain geographical regions would have been excluded from launch, the game would now be healthy and everybody would be happy. I remember you cryptic guys tested a patch on Champions online, to bann said countries where is it? It is time to apply it to NW asap.
Peace.
You know, at this point the Asian population pays a LOT more on F2P games than Westerners. So that won't happen.

There are solutions to this problem, but IP blocks isn't one. That just leads to a small game population and the economy would be ruined differently (i.e, not through exploits)

Just get better programmers.

This is an open beta. Start treating it like one.
