So, it seems that the forums are no longer a place of learning information, just a place for complaining. so here's my rant. Is something to expensive in the market? something not worth the risk? Well then don't freaking buy it!. the zen market is designed as a bonus, it doesn't matter how high the prices are, don't like em, don't use it. a 40$ mount does not give you any advantage in this game what so ever. But if someone likes the way it looks then who cares if they buy it? all this, its a game why spend so much money on it!? well they earned it, they spend it how they want. people spend 1000's of dollars on useless garbage everyday, but using it on a game that is enjoyable is idiotic?
this game was designed to make the F2P community still on par with the P2P people, and so far its doing a very good job, there is not a discernible advantage for spending 40 dollars on a mount, or 100's on keys for the lock boxes, or even spending money on gear, grinding is just as effective as spending money. so stop complaining and continue to play one of the most balanced F2PvsP2P games on the market. or go spend 180 dollars a year minimum on WoW or other P2P games.
P.S. im completely F2P just tired of reading "Zen Market prices RUINED the game!!"

At first I was hateful of the zen market, but now I am starting to come around with dropping zen prices on the exchange. It seems that the things I want to get, are not really that hard to acquire at all. I know I will most likely never save for anything grand like the mounts, but for other things I am finding them quite useful. (I have a profession booster pack addiction -.-)

With all do respect and I do in some way agree with you on what you are saying but I still think the Zen is Wayyyyy out of control. Just because some has the extra money or even if they don't but wants to over extend themselves that's everyone option. I will never say it ruined the game but I would rather spend ~$10/mth and know I am not missing out on anything in the game them think **** there goes another ~20 or as you said $40 for a mount now what do I have to spend more $$$ on tomorrow.....
I do think imo that if anything is a negative or will hurt the game in the long run is how heavy it is run by Zen (real money) to get even the littlest thing...
Some items are prices well but some items seem to be somewhat outrageous. Items prices can potentially drop too as time goes on. Before I was a Founder, I was thinking the Hero of the North pack was a little crazy priced but to me it was worth it considering the perks and how much I enjoy this game. I've spent more money on design suites like Adobe's Creative Suites but I'm able to re-coup my costs easily by client projects. Sometimes with games, it's difficult to justify spending X amount of dollars on in-game items especially if I feel if items are priced a little too high. Overall, Neverwinter items for the most part are priced decently.
i agree with you 50%. While someone shouldn't buy an item if they disagree with the pricing, they are by no means not allowed to complain about something that they view as either unfair, or detrimental to the game as a whole.
Personally, I don't like the pricing on the zen store because I think it will negatively impact the game as a whole. I don't want Neverwinter to become a ghost town, with the only long term players being a bunch of whales, while the rest of the community just flit in and out.

This. I am guessing that the AD to Zen prices will drop after a month and usually "stabilized"
Current prices for STO is 130 dilithium to 1 zen but keep in mind that is average AND daily refine is 8k a day
I would say around 200 AD per zen (maybe 250) average with 24k a day. So at 24,000 a day at 250 price (guesstimate) that is 96z PER DAY) that is not too bad. (24000/250 = 96) again this is a GUESSTIMATE of what price will be once the market stabilized.
Having to pay $6 for respecs makes this game 100% p2p.
the zen market is designed as a bonus, it doesn't matter how high the prices are, don't like em, don't use it
This game is in beta and feats / power will be changed. This means people will have no choice but to buy respecs. THAT ISN'T A BONUS, IT'S A NECESSITY.

There's a reason why people keep posting about Zen prices.
(Here's a hint: It's outrageous. And obviously they care enough about the game to hop on the forums and complain.)

Believe it or not, there used to be games in which respecs *gasp* DID NOT EXIST AT ALL! You had to roll a whole new character if you flucked your build up.
You can always do that, be happy they offer you another option. If $6 is worth not rolling a new toon, pay the six bucks and be more careful about your skill choices next time.

I agree with Xanthell. I'm not particularly sure how a mount can destroy the game for being overpriced. I know for a fact that some things in the game like Enchantments gets immensely hard to attain the higher their ranks become, but cut Cryptic some slack. They've already included a LOT of opportunities for the f2p players to stand on par with the p2p, such as Zen for Diamonds.
While it takes a lot of diamonds to procure the Zen, it should also promote players to do more dungeons with other players to farm for items to be sold in the auction house for diamonds. Yes, it takes time, but time is the only thing we f2p players can spend since we do not spend money. I love the game as it is.
I had a random thought today..possibly already covered once before
Even though I never liked the system, and it probably will still be met with a lot of negative feedback, but what if they introduced temp 30/60/90 day duration versions like some *other* companies do, of some of the pricey items for cheaper for those who don't want to play for years and years so it isn't all or nothing? (mounts bags bank space etc)
What happens when the duration of your bank space runs out and you have it crammed full of stuff though? I dunno, I never bought those in those other games :P

It has been a while but I think FlyFF did something similar. Your items will end up "locked" until you either pay to get it out or "rerent" it. I am sure other system would probably put into a "withdraw" only box.

played a few mmo's this is by far the cheapest and easiest i ever played.lvl 60 in 1 week 1k zen in 1 week you can get pretty easy everything in zen market if u know how to play and use trade house
Folks just need to.complain. as for them caring about the game....that's bull****. They just want HAMSTER for free and want it now. It's about 27 people that are keeping all the BS hype about the zen store in the forums. They actually have ruined these forums as searching through them for any usefull information is nearly impossible due to there childish ranting. If they didn't have the zen store to ***** about, I'm sure they would find something else. My gal and I would rather spend hours of fun together online than a dinner and a movie a couple times a month......so zen store is cheaper. Those poor souls that don't have any disposable income....well grind a little and make the AD. Besides there is nothing that has to be purchased. You all (or the 27 of ya) are just ranting and guess what....nobody give a rats ***. So please.....

It's cuz they are lazy and want instant gratification for free....no wonder they don't have the extra to spend a little cash for cosmetic items that offer no advantage to the game whatsoever. Its a sad part of the humanity that they choose to exist that way.

People keep talking about mounts and bags and whatnot. I'm past that, I bought a bag and some keys for the sake of myself. But this game is P2W at its worst. Every end game dungeon item is BoE which means it can (and is) sold on the AH. Which means, I can buy zen to transfer to AD to buy the best gear in the game. I can literally get to level cap and become the best player with the swipe of my debit card. Let's not even get into the ridiculous respec price. Talk about a grindfest, this game is only a week or so old so OBVIOUSLY people aren't tired of the grind yet, or really don't understand how long it really takes to grind up the AD. Like I said, 2 months from now you'll either have a cheaper zen shop with more balanced prices for all ingame currency (gold doesn't count obv because it's almost useless) or you're going to have another dead PWE game.

You can, but don't have to.
The game is not pay to win, it is not neccessary to pay to win. However, the player that does what you describes IS paying to win.
ANd we wonder why EVERY kid now gets a trophy? NOTHING is fair, not life, not work, not where your born.. its the way it is... if you can't afford to spend big dollars on playing a game, then go play checkers or battleship. Good lord, I agree with the Op, whinning and moaning that lil johnny's is bigger than yours is embarrassing, if not down right moronic. Maybe get a 2nd job, and do THAT instead of play all day and then come on forums to waawaa. ITS F2P... get over not having a shiny horse that breathes fire or a armored spider.. good grief.

But they didn't have to, they're just stupid.
but the option to p2w is there right. its what u just said....and there are foolish richy kids who will buy what ever they want. just be proud of your totally earned toon. and if someone you know or met is buying there gear instead of earning it and you dont like it add them to ignore list. let p2w play with themselves. who the fk wants to play with a lvl 60 ****? just my 2 cents but do as you please and enjoy the game at the very least. it is still really fun at this early stage.
yeah pretty much, I mean, I don't even mind if they wanna buy their gear or whatever, I'm not going to complain because they decided to spend hundreds of dollars getting something NOW that they could've just played the game for a few weeks and gotten for free.
As a matter of fact, to be completely candid, I don't even look at a player's gear in this or any other MMORPG. Someone could have the most OP gear in the world and if they beat me in pvp I'd never think "that dude's gear is OP," I'd think "****, that dude's too much of a beast for me to fight him like I did. I need to think of a different approach."

Want to support the game.
Can't hack spending stupid amounts of money on most of the services or a vanity mount with no point/some bugged pets that won't attack properly.
Have no level capped toons to buy any of the rest of it and actually make any use of it.
Wat do?
By this logic "if you think it's over priced, don't buy it" I literally cannot spend any money on a game I like playing. I can farm astral diamonds, which are literally the only thing I'd spend zen on at this level. Even then... Why? Literally all I have left are those broken companions, stupid-overpriced mounts, bags (ok, maybe this), and bank slots. Note, however, that I'm basing buying bank slots off champions online. Which, the purchase buys you a full page of like 40 slots, so even that's a no-go.
Nothing about this store smacks even gently of a micro-transaction. Look at LoL for an example of that done right. There's a reason that game's making a killing and has more players than wow does. It's easy to randomly justify spending 2, 3, even 5 bucks on something random. This game flat out does not allow for impulse buys. This, imo, is a shortcoming.

Is Pay to Win bad? Well it all depends on the game.
If a players know HOW to play with their character (i.e. good tactics) then buying gears just enhance that player. Of course I have met players who EARN their gear and still a bad player (in many different MMO)
NWN is NOT a complex game. it is very arcade style MMO and pretty easy to play.
While I understand some of the older MMO, P2W is a bad deal (totally failing at raid or something) but is it that bad?

well when i use my daily (shocking execution) and see that i crit for 8-20k and dont see the guys health bar move a single bit its obvious he is geared and then i wonder why the fk was i match up against these fully geared players that have countless hours of endless pvp.... very strange to be thrown to the wolves like that
