Eh, i'd take daily maintenance over the server just giving the ghost. If taking it down every day at a certain time for an hour or so is what it takes to fix it, good. Even more so if they announce ahead of time it's coming down so you don't plan a dungeon and can't finish, which is what happens when the server just stops.
I also want to point out, Blizzard once had a plan to never need to have maintenance, so it would never come down once a week. Look how that worked out. I played then, (from launch really) and that was a terrible time, bad lag and server restarts at random times, and they ended up just going back to weekly maintenance. They have way more money and people to do it too, and they can't solve this problem.
