    I believe I saw a stream with somebody extending their fov, looks a lot better in my opinion, thanks.

    I did find a solution:

    EDIT: **1 person who tried this says it caused his camera to do odd things with his mouse movements. So, I guess... use at your own risk. It works great for me.

    Create a txt file called CommandAliases.txt. Paste this into the txt file.

    Save the txt file. Place it in Cryptic Studios>Neverwinter>Live>Localdata

    Then in game type:

    /bind wheelminus fov55
    Spin your mouse wheel down to activate.

    You now have zoom. Shouldn't need to do any of it again after initial setup.

    I found it on another forum (i don't know jack about this kind of stuff). I was surprised it works so well. Occasionally mousewheel gets stuck on chat and i have to press esc twice to get it working again but it's only happened twice. It makes the game sooo much better imo.

    Should be legit because you are using in-game tools, and you are respecting the rule that all actions are initiated by a human (not a bot).

    I didn't want to mess with the mouse wheel, so I went with a simpler solution (type these lines in chat):

    /bind f5 "gfxsetdefaultfov 55"
    /bind f6 "gfxsetdefaultfov 75"

    So now F5 is default camera and F6 is zoomed back camera. These are the only two I really need.

    That does not work, I pressed f5 on the chat does not show up. Pressed the letter f and 5 attached together and pressed enter, it said unknown command which ever way you enter it. It does not work it keeps saying unknown command, Dont follow what he said it does not work, also about this.

    ^that is not good because if you accidentally touch the scroll wheel you have to set it back to the way it was, dont say things and not explain exactly what to do. Your wasting your time, and about the other thing about create a txt file. You accidentally hit the scroll wheel and move the camera, dont post things that will work but you have to be careful not to touche it. Yeah you posted something to do, to set the distance of the camera, but its useless if you have to be careful not to touch it. I would use it but its pointless, the correct thing to post and a post that did not waste my time is. If I said you do this to set f1 to f12 to set the camera distance, so f1 is the closest and f12 is the farthest. So if you press between f1 to f12 it will move the camera distance, That is something that will work not pointless; and saying something that didnt waste my time.

    That did not make any sense at all to me. I don't know what all that code means. I got it from another forum. The end result, however, is to make scroll wheel zoom just like many other games (such as WoW). For which I am grateful and just wanted to share.

    I think it does explain exactly what to do. I am certainly no computer programmer and I was able to follow the instructions and get it to work.

    I don't know of any bad things that happen when you touch the scroll wheel. All that happens for me is, if I scroll up, it zooms in incrementally and if I scroll down, it zooms out incrementally. And they're small increments per scroll click. So... unlike what I was taught as a child, it is ok to touch it.

    Not that it matters, but how do you 'accidentally' scroll your scroll wheel? Some weird mouse design? RU playing with your feet?

    Here's a couple of binds to try out if you use the CommandAliases.txt method:

    /bind Home "bind wheelplus fov50 $$ bind wheelminus fov60"
    /bind End "gfxsetdefaultfov 55 $$ unbind wheelplus $$ unbind wheelminus"

    This will make the Home key activate the mousewheel zoom, and the End key disable it.

    So how do I "free" the camera controls. Seems my mouse hijacked the camera and it's sickening to watch the camera run riot with the mouse. I dl'd the game, fixed a character and class and got to the starting zone and the mouse took my camera. I just exited the game after going through all the options settings to try and get the camera back under my control and not the mouses whims.

    That sounds like a pretty major problem and I have no idea why it's happening. Fr0gurt's recommendation might fix it as I'm guessing it will turn it off. I am not going to test it because zoom is working perfect for me as is and I don't want to do anything to wreck it.

    That's 2 people it worked for (me and veblen), 1 person it broke the game, 1 person saying it's stupid (I assume he didn't try it). If anyone else tries it, please post your results.

    /much deserved bump

    While I only increased my FoV by 5 it makes the game feel much better. I actually prefer it's not on scroll wheel, on other MMO's I always accidentally bumped it all the time. Although, a slider in the menu would be great.

    Thanks for sharing this tip! I'm glad that some people were able to find a way to improve their experience in Neverwinter by using this command. I took a note of this when I saw it for the first time during Sevadus' Livestream.

    For users who are asking if it is a problem/TOS violation to change the FOV via the command line, you should be fine. We actually encourage its usage for gaining greater creative control when taking screenshots and video.

    the in-game command below would set the field of view to 70

    /gfxsetdefaultfov 70


    and its available to players

    Also, just to clarify: I highly recommend using demorecord (see my previous post in this thread) and setting the FOV to a low number like 20 or so. It's great for "glamour shots" of your characters. :)

    What is your screen resolution?

    You can use a vertical FOV calculator like this one which seems to be "accurate" to within 5 degrees: http://www.rjdown.co.uk/projects/bfbc2/fovcalculator.php

    Great suggestion! It is on our list of feedback, though to properly set expectations I don't have any concrete information as to when we would be implement a change of that nature. Right now we are addressing a high volume of feedback so it's important that we clearly communicate that some changes will be implemented more quickly than others. Keep letting us know and we will prioritize as best we can!

    Having grown up with DOS, and Atari 2600 and C64 prior to that, I'm well aware of old school. But I'm old and lazy now so... Slider please!

    In game setting works swell but you need to do it with each character.

    For pictures I chose
    /bind 8 "gfxsetdefaultfov 35"
    /bind 9 as 100

    for gaming I used
    /bind wheelplus as 55 (default) and

    /bind wheelminus "gfxsetdefaultfov 75" for every day running around.

    You could also use 7 as a bind, but I prefered to do it with the wheel except for the near and far for pics.

    IT CANNOT BE AGAINST THE RULES!!!! The files are on your computer, there for you OWN them the second that the game was installed on your hard drive it became your property. You can do anything you want to the files on your computer the launcher the client.. as long as it doesn't effect the server... your FoV is client side not server side so you cannot get banned for changing a CONFIG file on your hard drive.

    Here's a link to the Zoom zoom zoom thread, which shows you how to set up your mouse wheel to change the FoV on the fly.
