I like the look of the normal Rogue armor so far, but I'm definitely going to be disappointed if I don't see some extra variety soon (currently around level 30-35)
The lack of diversity in appearance in this game is disappointing, especially considering how amazing the costume creator is in Champions Online, which uses the same engine. I share concerns that this will be implemented primarily through zen store purchased skins, rather than by adding in a very rudimentary costume creator at character creation.
Even at level 60 very rare armor still looks the same. You look the same for the entirety of the game. I've even been the exact same color the entire time as CW. It's pretty silly.
Strange.. My chest pieces changed a lot as a Devoted Cleric.

. . . . . Actually, my armor (CW) has changed four times in appearance (graphics) from 1-25. Here's my outfit at level 20 and then again at level 25. I didn't take pics of my earlier armor unfortunately. The only reason my sleeves and shoes are the same in both pics is because I didn't want to spend more zen on more dyes, so I spent AD instead to make my new shoes and arms take the appearance of my level 20 shoes and arms, which were already dyed white and black.

I have to agree with the OP, the same-ness of the armor level after level is a bit off-putting. I don't want tiny incremental changes when I equip something new. I want it to look different.
Loving the game so far, but character customization is sorely lacking.
I managed to get a boss drop in a early level skirmish for my TR, the armor was lvl 16. It looked significantly different than my normal armor. It was styled after the boss's armor.

We look like basic trainees at level 1.
Leveling up a GWF I saw that we get armor with no shoulder/side plates (level 1), one shoulderplate, two shoulderplates, or two shoulderplates and a sideplate.
That was at level 10 I saw the full plated armor.
A few levels later, I was back to wearing the level 1 design.
I'm currently 22 and still have the level 1 design. (Edit: lol. Got the level 20+ chest armor look.. it's what, 10% different? These designer(s), jesus..)
At least I have gauntlets now and a very slightly different looking sword, I guess.. *sigh*
Still in leather boots too; will probably change once I find the updated 20+ looking pieces.
As a cleric.. wow, they didn't even try. The chestpiece design is just a rotation or flip of the stock design. I was quite appalled by that. Would post screenshots but I got rid of my older gear. Could try to look in the foundry.. (Edit: Yeah, Foundry aint happening.. can't figure out how to make a custom armor set, the presets are only showing the main, full pieces)
In the case of my friend.. if he continues to look the same for a long period of time, he loses interest and quits playing. He's the type of person who likes finding new things and constantly wants to upgrade his look with the new things he finds. I'm like that too, but not as excessive.

This is probably only happening to me and its something you have to buy from the cash shop or w/e but its rediculous that every peice of gear i gte and equip looks exactly the same as what i was already wearing. If this is " Working as Intended " then I guess i need to find me a different game. I really like alot of things about this game but i just keep running into these things that make me say " seriously " ? I dont get it. I know its beta and i accept some polishing needs to be done but the overall game and its design are done. The dungeon queu is very sad. I ran the same run like 20 times and every single boss dropped the same loot every single time. I'm a cw and i have yet to get a single blue boss drop and i find that strange. Dont get me wrong i know it sounds like all im doing is complaining but I really like the game. It just seems like every good thing is followed by a broken thing or halfassed thing.
The look of the gear changes in increments. It's basicly the same gear just they keep adding more to it the higher you get. There's some unique pieces here and there that drops from bosses in different instances.
blue stuff is drastically different , but the green stuff slowly changes .
keep your starter armor and put it back on at 40 and see how different it is . You will swear it never changed , but BOOM its a lot different .

Can we get the amount of char diversity and range of fashion similar to PWI please? :S
it's a more than 5 years old game and I see no other even getting close to the mass of possibilities. Can't you just take stuff from there? (I know eso and pwi files can be imported into each other so...)
For me it's good, because great looking gear should depend on how much time you have invested in trying to get it. The time amount though is a different topic.
I got some Orc Machete to drop, its icon looks different than the normal sword (GF drop). I'm afraid to equip because it will probably look like a normal sword and not like an orcish weapon.
Save it for later. Then use it to reskin your much better weapon (costs AD).
There's also something very similar for rogues. Here's what it looks like on my main...
As I said, this is basically how all cleric armor has been up to this point. Flips and mirrors of the stock design; the epitome of lazy.
Here Here ! I'd have been happy if there was some style variation every 10 lvls (lets say 5 different sets per class every 10 levels) , none of this adding bits onto the same skin every 20 levels (Cheapskate Lazy BS imho) ... Seriously who came to this decision ?!? Who decided this was a good idea ... or ... wasn't bothered what the reaction would be from the fans/players ... I mean Game designers were getting this right, back in the 90's - How can this game be so 'backwards' with missing core basic requirements !! For god sake please put some time/resource into aesthetic variation on armours/character look (including god **** human companions) !! Insane dye costs and lack of variety once again helps not at all !
Hang on , I just had a thought ! Did you guys hold back 90% of the character customization content for the 20th ?!?! Awwww you guys seriously that's just plain evil ! ..... Yeah right , If that's the case I'll chow down on a bag O wasps !
The only outcome I can see is epic fail for this game which is unfortunate because you got the combat mechanic spot on (well ..almost) people will start dropping off regardless of the foundry content if you don't act fast , there are many games on the horizon that are gonna eat your player base up very quickly indeed .. Time is running out and you haven't even 'officially launched' Not even the D&D banner will save you me thinks :-(

It wasn't until I hit 30ish that I got decent looking armor as a GF(solar armor, blue drop). At L38 I picked up the knight captain stuff from the AH.
The alchemy crafting spec should allow for cheap(er) dyes though since you can now craft them.
If you look closely, the gear does change quite a bit.
Without zooming in though, green gear often looks same-ish because of the pretty uniform colour scheme.
Green gears are "reasonable" gear, that looks like something you'd imagine someone would actually want to wear into battle, so there's that too.
Blue gear+ and you start getting costume gear, or at least fancy versions with more distinct colour schemes.
My cleric is currently running around with the Stormcaller tunic, bone necklace and bone belt. Distinct "barbarian" look to that with runes, pelt and such.
Ehh, you spend less than 35 hours leveling form 1-60. Would rather they focous on more demanding issues, you have plenty of choice at 60, though change appearance is over priced imo

I personally prefer and am enjoying the artistic direction they took with the armor. It doesn't looks like some Anime film, it looks like D&D.
I've noticed lots of variation in the armor, but the catch is you have to look closely. The details in the armor are very intricate... so if you're looking at your character zoomed out when you change armor you're probably not going to notice much.

I've been a lvl 60 cleric for some time and I'm spending a lot of AD's and time on trying to find something that doesn't look almost similar to what I have worn since lvl 35. Don't get me wrong, I do love all the details on the armour, but it does look very much the same after all. Now I'll just wait and hope they will bring out some costumes that I like.

Just stand in town in look around , there is little variation in armour design/style , the fact that its quick & easy to hit level 60 is not really a excuse to have limited variation in armour/styles/design ... Its a poor show !
