D&D Character Story Contest

How do I participate?

Go here to complete a survey about your characteristics in the real world, filling out all of the approximately 115 questions. Once you're done, paste your results in reply to this thread, and include any interesting details about yourself (Do feel free to come up with a name you think you might have in the D&D world). I will pick the three I find most interesting and write an adventure story in this forum about the combined adventures of those three, my own, and my significant other's as well. In addition, I will consider putting you into my next short Foundry quest!

To be clear, you're translating your real-world self into the D&D world.

I will choose the most interesting three by Friday, April 19th. If you don't get picked, don't fret, as there may be more contests to come!

My Results

Eredis Mal

Chaotic Good Human Sorcerer (4th Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength- 13
Dexterity- 14
Constitution- 14
Intelligence- 17
Wisdom- 15
Charisma- 16

Details: Often aloof, preferring to contemplate the world and study people before interacting. An unwilling leader, occasionally chosen to do things he'd rather not take responsibility for. Has a strong internal sense of morality, and lacks trust in divinity. Is prone to giving into vices and in strange contrast to being an effective leader, sometimes lacks willpower when it comes to his vices: Indulging in unhealthy, yet savory foods; preferring leisure over necessary tasks; procrastinating right up until the end, which often leads to stress for him. Stereotypical intelligent, witty slacker.

Contest results are complete!

Please offer a big congratulations to the following individuals and their characters!

@draezendirehand - Draezen Darkholme

@kwsapphire - Kya White Sapphire

@xhatch - Reinhardt

These three players and their composite characters will be introduced in a short story I will adapt around a party of five main protagonists, including myself, @marzipanik, and of course these three contest winners. All those who participated may well be mentioned later in the story, as our main characters progress through their adventure. That story is listed HERE.

What's that, you didn't win? Don't fret! You will have a second chance at winning a contest along with everyone else. That contest will be listed here and at the front of the thread, in my first post on page 1.

I want to say that everyone who participated had interesting character composites and I really wanted to include everyone, but I had to restrict myself somewhat.

Q: Why did I pick mostly Humans?
A: It wasn't intentional, but it just sort of worked out that way.

Q: Why are there no evil characters?
A: While I admire D&D alignment systems, I like to think of literary characters in terms of a gradient of white to black, with all manner of grey in between.

Hm. My stats are much more average than yours. And terrible for the generated class; my key ability is among my lowest. Still, I'll throw in; congratulations on a nifty and unique idea!
    My Results

    Leirwyth Athore

Lawful Good Elf Cleric (3rd Level)

    Ability Scores:
    Strength- 14
    Dexterity- 12
    Constitution- 14
    Intelligence- 14
    Wisdom- 12
    Charisma- 14

Details: Friendly and outgoing, but ultimately a social introvert; enjoys the company of people, but needs to be alone to recharge. Somewhat absent-minded and forgetful, and not exactly a bastion of self-discipline and willpower, but honorable, respectful, and reliable. Trusts the divine over the self, which he often doubts. In modest physical shape. Avid reader, consumate know-it-all who loves to discuss (and has extensive knowledge of) history, philosophy, and writing but detests math and isn't much good at the sciences. Loves to tell stories and make people laugh.

    Draezen Darkholme

Neutral Good Human Fighter (4th Level)

    Ability Scores:
    Strength-14
    Dexterity-18
    Constitution-15
    Intelligence-13
    Wisdom-14
    Charisma-13

    Details:
Quiet and reserved around strangers, slow to trust and accept new companions, but sharp of wit and tongue with those familiar to him. Too much time spent in crowds makes him uncomfortable. Doesn't always have the best situational awareness but often notices details other may miss. An honorable rake who will do anything for friends and family, but wont give a second thought to the average stranger on the street.

Lawful Good Elf Cleric (4th Level)

    Ability Scores:
    Strength- 11
    Dexterity- 11
    Constitution- 8
    Intelligence- 14
    Wisdom- 15
    Charisma- 15

I think we can safely say that I'd be a spellcasting cleric, 'cause no mace is gonna save me with crappy physical stats like that! I'm so weak.

Details: Outgoing and personable, quick to make friends and genuinely interested in the well being of others, but due to a tough life is slow to trust others. Though forgiving and loyal, is also patient and conservative which tends to be at odds with those preferring more adventurous lifestyles. Truly believes in a higher power, but also believes in the importance of study and discipline. Is unfortunately beset by bodily illness/weakness and must often rely on aid from others for extraordinary physical tasks.

Neutral Good Elf Wizard (2nd Level)

    Ability Scores:
    Strength- 8
    Dexterity- 10
    Constitution- 8
    Intelligence- 14
    Wisdom- 14
    Charisma- 12

    Details:
Has a frail body and a fragile health, often sick or simply undisposed. Has a crystal clear focus of mind and an uncanny ability to perceive what others do not. Her gut feelings about other people are always right, and she is extremely empathic. An alchemist, she enjoys working with healer clerics, creating magical cures and panaceas for them to use, and dreams of exploring the world and its wonders despite her feeble constitution. Not a very adventurous person, she tends to stay out of danger whenever possible. Can be aloof and distrustful of people she does not know, but caring and extremely attached to her close friends. Has a silver fox pet.

    P.S. worst ability scores ever.

    Eriandor Assian

Lawful Good Human Monk/Sorcerer (2nd/2nd Level)
    Ability Scores:
    Strength-19
    Dexterity-19
    Constitution-15
    Intelligence-17
    Wisdom-12
    Charisma-16

Details: Male, 6'2'', 200lbs, blond, blue eyes, more fit than bulky. Extremely fit. Top of the class but hate studying, fun and liked but not too many close friends. More of a "the guy you want in your party" than "the guy you want at your party". Courageous but level-headed. Would never betray someones trust, nor leave a dead friend behind. Can be naive and too trusting.
A deep respect for nature as well as it's inhabitants is important to uphold a stable environment, man is not king and must always know that one can not stop what comes, only attempt to shape it. Believes that one must always be fair and stand up for those less fortunate, while upholding the laws of society (if they are just).

Considering there are neither monks nor sorcs and my wisdom score got so low, I assume a Rogue character would fit best. I actually loved the class result i got on the survey!

    Constitution-14
    Intelligence-13
    Wisdom-14
    Charisma-9

He did grow up in the eastern part of the region and when he was 19 years old started to work as manager for some farms and posts for caravans. His life changed when the orcs invaded the land and destroyed all the things for he had worked. Full of anger he started to chase the orcs. The pursuit proved to take longer Falren had thougth. And he finally got lost and had to face the wild side of nature. He said to a friend "I failed but i survived. And when i felt the cold and the hungry i noticed the silence... many rangers have heard the call of the Mielikki, i heard her silence in my heart".

Chaotic Evil Human Wizard/Sorcerer (1st/1st Level)

    Ability Scores:
    Strength- 11
    Dexterity- 11
    Constitution- 13
    Intelligence- 14
    Wisdom- 13
    Charisma- 14

    Alignment:
Chaotic Evil- A chaotic evil character does whatever his greed, hatred, and lust for destruction drive him to do. He is hot-tempered, vicious, arbitrarily violent, and unpredictable. If he is simply out for whatever he can get, he is ruthless and brutal. If he is committed to the spread of evil and chaos, he is even worse. Thankfully, his plans are haphazard, and any groups he joins or forms are poorly organized. Typically, chaotic evil people can be made to work together only by force, and their leader lasts only as long as he can thwart attempts to topple or assassinate him. Chaotic evil is sometimes called demonic because demons are the epitome of chaotic evil. Chaotic evil is the best alignment you can be because combines self-interest and pure freedom. However, chaotic evil can be a dangerous alignment because it represents the destruction not only of beauty and life but also of the order on which beauty and life depend.

    Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

    Primary Class:
Wizards- Wizards are arcane spellcasters who depend on intensive study to create their magic. To wizards, magic is not a talent but a difficult, rewarding art. When they are prepared for battle, wizards can use their spells to devastating effect. When caught by surprise, they are vulnerable. The wizard's strength is her spells, everything else is secondary. She learns new spells as she experiments and grows in experience, and she can also learn them from other wizards. In addition, over time a wizard learns to manipulate her spells so they go farther, work better, or are improved in some other way. A wizard can call a familiar- a small, magical, animal companion that serves her. With a high Intelligence, wizards are capable of casting very high levels of spells.

    Secondary Class:
Sorcerers- Sorcerers are arcane spellcasters who manipulate magic energy with imagination and talent rather than studious discipline. They have no books, no mentors, no theories just raw power that they direct at will. Sorcerers know fewer spells than wizards do and acquire them more slowly, but they can cast individual spells more often and have no need to prepare their incantations ahead of time. Also unlike wizards, sorcerers cannot specialize in a school of magic. Since sorcerers gain their powers without undergoing the years of rigorous study that wizards go through, they have more time to learn fighting skills and are proficient with simple weapons. Charisma is very important for sorcerers; the higher their value in this ability, the higher the spell level they can cast.

    Details:
Since the youngest years gifted with both : a very sharp mind and intuition, the young James was natural with all forms of magic. He always though of himself as, if not better, that other than the young mages in the walls of Candlekeep. But it was there, in a old book in one of the basements of the libraries have he found the book, the words that change his life forever.
In Chaos Magic, beliefs are not seen as ends in themselves, but as tools for creating desired effects. To fully realize this is to face a terrible freedom in which nothing is true and everything is permitted, which is to say that everything is possible, there are no certainties, and the consequences can be ghastly.
Since that, since founding that which he has unknowingly seek in his 20-years old life, everything had changed. Not to good, nor bad, because those words had no meaning to him, all that mattered was Change. "Change or be Changed", that was his new motto, the words that guided him to the most dangerous pits of magic, even more that the Void or the Nine Hells. He found the Chaos, not a plane, not a force, but the very reason life existed, the very reason the Universe was not a motionless rock and not struggling against the tide of existence, he flew on its wings, becoming the catalyst of chaotic powers in Faerun.

Well, it is not Warlock, but I am fond of myself =D

Neutral Evil Human Rogue (4th Level)

    Ability Scores:

    Strength- 15
    Dexterity- 17
    Constitution- 16
    Intelligence- 14
    Wisdom- 17
    Charisma- 14

    Alignment:
Neutral Evil- A neutral evil villain does whatever he can get away with. He is out for himself, pure and simple. He sheds no tears for those he kills, whether for profit, sport, or convenience. He has no love of order and holds no illusion that following laws, traditions, or codes would make him any better or more noble. On the other hand, he doesnt have the restless nature or love of conflict that a chaotic evil villain has. Some neutral evil villains hold up evil as an ideal, committing evil for its own sake. Most often, such villains are devoted to evil deities or secret societies. Neutral evil is the best alignment you can be because you can advance yourself without regard for others. However, neutral evil can be a dangerous alignment because it represents pure evil without honor and without variation.

    Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

    Class:
Rogues- Rogues have little in common with each other. While some - maybe even the majority - are stealthy thieves, many serve as scouts, spies, investigators, diplomats, and simple thugs. Rogues are versatile, adaptable, and skilled at getting what others don't want them to get. While not equal to a fighter in combat, a rogue knows how to hit where it hurts, and a sneak attack can dish out a lot of damage. Rogues also seem to have a sixth sense when it comes to avoiding danger. Experienced rogues develop nearly magical powers and skills as they master the arts of stealth, evasion, and sneak attacks. In addition, while not capable of casting spells on their own, a rogue can sometimes 'fake it' well enough to cast spells from scrolls, activate wands, and use just about any other magic item.

    Info
Growing up as the Smallest of six siblings I have never been able to overpower many people around me , forcing me to be a bit faster and quick witted than my other siblings. The fact that I never got along with my siblings in the first place and had few friends caused me to develop weak social skills.
As i grew up i Quickly realized i had a knack for the sleight of hand, and used this to my advantage to get what i normally could not. Due to my completely average appearance and dexterous build i can maneuver around virtually undetected, and even if i am seen you may have a hard time describing a plain, common, average person.

Lawful Neutral Human Ranger (4th Level)

    Ability Scores:
    Strength- 13
    Dexterity- 13
    Constitution- 12
    Intelligence- 13
    Wisdom- 17
    Charisma- 10

    Alignment:
Lawful Neutral- A lawful neutral character acts as law, tradition, or a personal code directs him. Order and organization are paramount to him. He may believe in personal order and live by a code or standard, or he may believe in order for all and favor a strong, organized government. Lawful neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you are reliable and honorable without being a zealot. However, lawful neutral can be a dangerous alignment when it seeks to eliminate all freedom, choice, and diversity in society.

    Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

    Class:
Rangers- Rangers are skilled stalkers and hunters who make their home in the woods. Their martial skill is nearly the equal of the fighter, but they lack the latter's dedication to the craft of fighting. Instead, the ranger focuses his skills and training on a specific enemy a type of creature he bears a vengeful grudge against and hunts above all others. Rangers often accept the role of protector, aiding those who live in or travel through the woods. His skills allow him to move quietly and stick to the shadows, especially in natural settings, and he also has special knowledge of certain types of creatures. Finally, an experienced ranger has such a tie to nature that he can actually draw on natural power to cast divine spells, much as a druid does, and like a druid he is often accompanied by animal companions. A ranger's Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.

Details: The man you see before you bears a rough, weathered look. He looks youthful, but his sharp blue eyes & stubbled beard betray him as an adventurer of many years. His quiet demeanor seems to have a deliberate purpose to it. You get the feeling this man doesn't want or care for the attention of others he doesn't already know. That puts anyone who doesn't already know him, & want's to get to know him, in a difficult position. On speaking with him, you would immediately take note of his very unusual accent. If you were to learn of the lands where this man was born & raised, you would not have associated his voice with that region. His unusual voice also has an air of elegance & age to it. He is well mannered. You would not have associated these qualities with a man of his rough appearance. He is also well armed. The hilt of his sword is fashioned into the shape of a horse's head. He carries a rolled up, plain leather taming whip on his belt. You notice a small dagger sheathed around one of his boots. In all, he looks foul, but seems fair to you.

True Neutral Human Wizard (4th Level)

    Ability Scores:
    Strength- 12
    Dexterity- 11
    Constitution- 13
    Intelligence- 17
    Wisdom- 15
    Charisma- 12

    Alignment:
True Neutral- A true neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. He doesn't feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most true neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil after all, he would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, he's not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some true neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. True neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion. However, true neutral can be a dangerous alignment when it represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction.

    Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

A wizard can call a familiar- a small, magical, animal companion that serves her. With a high Intelligence, wizards are capable of casting very high levels of spells.

Details: Neither strong nor weak, values intelligence over brawn; values faith in oneself over faith in the divine; takes a keen interest in Eastern (for the Realms: Shou and Kozakuran) culture, especially their foods; enjoys ale and mead, sometimes leading to his fellows jokingly calling him half-dwarf.

This man is decidedly average in strength, appearance, and manner, but he peers at you shrewdly as he notices your glance, almost as if to measure you up. Knitting his brow as if annoyed at the interruption, he then returns his gaze to the tome placed upon the desk in front of him, his quill pen scratching busily as he hastily takes notes on the subject he is studying so diligently. "I haven't time to acknowledge gawkers, so if you have business with me, please do me the kindness of stating what it is, and quickly."

Neutral Good Dwarf Fighter (6th Level)

    Hendale Stone-grinder

    Ability Scores:
    Strength- 16
    Dexterity- 20
    Constitution- 17
    Intelligence- 19
    Wisdom- 17
    Charisma- 15

    Alignment:
Neutral Good- A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. However, neutral good can be a dangerous alignment when it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable.

    Race:
Dwarves are known for their skill in warfare, their ability to withstand physical and magical punishment, their hard work, and their capacity for drinking ale. Dwarves are slow to jest and suspicious of strangers, but they are generous to those who earn their trust. They stand just 4 to 4.5 feet tall, but are broad and compactly built, almost as wide as they are tall. Dwarven men value their beards highly.

    Class:
Fighters- Fighters can be many things, from soldiers to criminal enforcers. Some see adventure as a way to get rich, while others use their skills to protect the innocent. Fighters have the best all-around fighting capabilities of the PC classes, and they are trained to use all standard weapons and armor. A fighter's rigorous martial training grants him many bonus feats as he progresses, and high-level fighters have access to special melee maneuvers and exotic weapons not available to any other character.

Details:Very detailed orientated, very deep Military background in Military Intentaginace, Always just to the front to take the lead on anything. Very loyal to all friends and family "just like a good labrador". Alwasys ready for a good drink and food.

Oddly enough I've taken this test before, and usually come out True Neutral. I come out Neutral on nearly every alignment test I take. Oh well, chaotic neutral is close enough. Also, I protest Human! I'd definitely be a gnome, NO doubt! (My main in NW will be a halfling.. close enough if that's all we're getting.)

The name's Kya White Sapphire, by the way. :]

Chaotic Neutral Human (*cough*GNOME*cough*) Wizard (4th Level)

    Ability Scores:
    Strength- 14
    Dexterity- 13
    Constitution- 11
    Intelligence- 15
    Wisdom- 13
    Charisma- 13

    Alignment:
Chaotic Neutral- A chaotic neutral character follows his whims. He is an individualist first and last. He values his own liberty but doesn't strive to protect others' freedom. He avoids authority, resents restrictions, and challenges traditions. A chaotic neutral character does not intentionally disrupt organizations as part of a campaign of anarchy. To do so, he would have to be motivated either by good (and a desire to liberate others) or evil (and a desire to make those different from himself suffer). A chaotic neutral character may be unpredictable, but his behavior is not totally random. He is not as likely to jump off a bridge as to cross it. Chaotic neutral is the best alignment you can be because it represents true freedom from both society's restrictions and a do-gooder's zeal. However, chaotic neutral can be a dangerous alignment when it seeks to eliminate all authority, harmony, and order in society.

    Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

The next time I take this I'm gonna lie! I don't like the result.

Lawful Good Human Wizard (8th Level)

    Ability Scores:
    Strength- 12
    Dexterity- 11
    Constitution- 8
    Intelligence- 17
    Wisdom- 12
    Charisma- 8

    Alignment:
Lawful Good- A lawful good character acts as a good person is expected or required to act. He combines a commitment to oppose evil with the discipline to fight relentlessly. He tells the truth, keeps his word, helps those in need, and speaks out against injustice. A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished. Lawful good is the best alignment you can be because it combines honor and compassion. However, lawful good can be a dangerous alignment when it restricts freedom and criminalizes self-interest.

    Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

    Class:

Ahaha. Contest will now close, thanks for all the participants. I'll be reviewing what has been posted here and get back to you in a couple of hours time.

Again, thanks for all the participants. Look for PM's tonight and at the first post of this thread for the announcement of winners and for a link to the intro story.

For those who do not win one of the three slots in the contest, you will have a chance at a second contest along with whoever else chooses to participate. It will be announced tomorrow.

See you in a few hours!

    Contest results are complete!

Please offer a big congratulations to the following individuals and their characters!

    @draezendirehand - Draezen Darkholme

    @kwsapphire - Kya White Sapphire

    @xhatch - Reinhardt

These three players and their composite characters will be introduced in a short story I will adapt around a party of five main protagonists, including myself, @marzipanik, and of course these three contest winners. All those who participated may well be mentioned later in the story, as our main characters progress through their adventure.

Well, comparing to the chosen characters, mine seems a bit like a possible anti-hero. Meh, always considered myself as a chaotic neutral and not evil :<
Anyway, congratulations to the winners =)

Just remember, just because you didn't win doesn't mean I won't feature you later in the story or at some other point.

Also, everyone has a chance to win at my other contest here:
