Thanks! And no, I have no idea who Rando is. I just today found this place after I had a good long cry-session about how buggy-to-the-point-of-being-unplayable the Mac port of Neverwinter Nights 2 is, and while I was looking to see if there was going to be a sequel to NWN2 (and having another good long cry after finding out that Hasbro sued the pants off of Atari for being morons with Hasbro's IP), I discovered that they're making a Neverwinter MMO that's FREE TO PLAY! Needless to say, it was a good pick-me-up after a rather depressing day.

I don't think I answered earlier-- but unaligned. If they do alignment-taxing and lock out too much equipment that way, I'll go Good on launch instead. Playing a Fighter gives more room than, say, a cleric, but at the end of the day I'm risking my life and my team's life for some professional experience (XP), loot, and monetary compensation. Everything else is shades of gray up for discussion.

There are many good clerics too. Just think about The Cleric Quintet. But i agree that a secretive order of evil cultist has always a great grip on players.

Are you a typical D&D player or a typical MMO player?
A typical D&D player or MMO player?
A typical D&D player or MMO player?
A typical D&D player or MMO player?
A typical.....
I am a proponent of Neutral myself. But games have been tying 'Good' and 'Evil' to the various races, for game purposes. I would really like to see us select our races and 'alignment' separately and let the players decide how they want to play. If elves and dwarfs do not 'like' each other then there might be a greater chance of conflict but the Ring Trilogy showed the advantages of co-operation as well. As a player it would be great to decide this for myself. I do not believe that alignment should be tied to morality in a game with real people.
The DND games I have both run and played ( I am old, 67yrs, and a retired former game designer for TSR and Pacesetter Games) had numerous 'mis-aligned' characters in most of those games, especially mine, as that was what the players wanted and had the most fun. Anecdotal evidence I know, but repeated nonetheless. Gaming experience from working conventions to long term groups.
Original D&D was 'designed' for DMs to use as a tool set for their gameplay. For various reasons the massive rules sets such as made for subsequent editions were designed, and became quite popular. D&D has more 'like guidelines' and Forgotten Realms has 'rules'. Each to his own. What do we want to see from NW? Check the forum posts and see.

Chaotic Neutral.... naah more close to Chaotic Good I would say. Absolutely not lawful. I would not call you Evil either typical MMO player behavior.
I like to play Chaotic Neutral or Chaotic Good. That said I have rarely played Lawful Good, but only if play Paladin. However this time according to 4th edition rules I don't need to create lawful good Paladin.
Clerics evil? I mentioned 5 Deities earlier that I want to worship and none of them are evil. However I would not call it very safe to be near my Chaotic Neutral Tempus(God of War and Battle a Chaotic Neutral Deity) Warpriest.
Once upon a time alignment Chaotic Neutral was most close to insanity according to DD rules.A Warpriest of Tempus yeah right not very safe combination. This is modern PsyTrance that I like to listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRufAykZPnE
I certainly don't use drugs. That said my ancestors were Vikings and maybe I like to play like a Warcrazy Tempus Priest full of Bloodlust!
Hey if somebody want to recommend me new FR books released 2008 or later please do. While nowadays I see more movies/TV series maybe I could read a FR book based on DD 4th edition World.

Speaking as a Rogue, I like to do both.
Sneaking in alleys taking from those who have too much already, and stealing the occasion life.
But there's always that sliver of bad in good characters that I often like to exploit in mine.

Devas are cool. People see the default asrt and get turned off. There is much better art for devas:-
