Every day this week they've been giving out several keys for alpha including today....where's our contests?? I sure don't speak German or French so thank god for translate.
/sips coffee
Also they average around 200 entries unlike our random 3k/3 key giveaway.
No worries mt freind they will come. I just hope that the odds of winning are a little higher than .01%. I am really excited to test this game and give feedback. I want Neverwinter to be as polished as possible come launch so we dont have a bunch of problems and a slew of folks bad mouthing and leaving the game.
I'm just pushing the envelope is all or it wont happen. I'm excited to help all I can also, have been for a long time and even more so than other games just because it's D&D.

The thing is though, that is a tune Cryptic sang for many many... many months and a lot of their dedicated followers up and left as they got fed up with these unfilled "soon" promises and will return whenever the game finally launches or whenever Cryptic does a 360 with their marketing. It's disheartening and frustrating when one is trying to stay positive and supportive when for the most part getting treated like HAMSTER and really this is a slap in their U.S. consumer faces which I'd wager will be the bulk of their users. Tack up another marketing fiasco.
They only started invites this month-- so more will come. They could give some heads up on the next round, but we are not entitled to any of that. FB. Twitter. CM tidbits.
I think Cryptic needed to focus more on the forums here, there is no doubt about that. Saying a few words on progress every 2 months or so starting back in January '12 may have alleviated the in the dark type comments we are hearing now (and have heard on and off for the past year+ now).
However - I have no problem with foreign contests. This is something DDO neglected at this stage, and its a great idea. I understand the frustration of forum regulars, I really do. Cryptic does need to get some kind of official communication started besides just frequenting the forums here...
Suggestion: I think a progress blog, even if started now, that allowed the devs to pop on for 10-15 minutes a week giving us a view into their week, even if just tidbits here and there .... would be considered a great showing of inclusion and support by even the hardiest forum regulars.
Communication has certainly picked up, we can not deny this. Contests are starting. The engine is moving. Yet I do not believe this signals a closed beta launch just yet. Again just guesswork on my part (watch them announce cb in 5 min now - NOT! hahaha)

I would say its a good thing. More players means more profit to support the game. Some extra promotion in places not native to the company won't hurt.

Er... 360 is not the number you are looking for.
At the end, like in any other MMO, people will only care about the released game being good and such, and not about alpha/beta keys. But while we wait for that moment, at least the motion sensors are detecting increasing stuff going on. Seems a good time to start being (a bit) positive.

The obvious answer is that there's already a lot of hype in the English-speaking world about Neverwinter, as is clearly evidenced by the discrepancy in numbers between the alpha applicants we just saw and the very low number of applicants in German and French.

To be fair the odds of getting a key in the last contest were closer to .05%
The number of keys was not 2. Hence calculations were invalid.

Last I checked, the public amount of keys offered there were 3 for France and 5 for Germany (or was it Vice Versa?) We handed out more than two but due to the privacy of the winners, I can't mention the actual total, except more than two of course
More contests will be done, and if a demographic need arises (such as...say, foreign languages for the other languages in the client needing to be tested for no reason...) it will be addressed and keys will be discussed on how to allocate...with the US being kept updated no matter where this happens...

Thats right, apparently there were more than 2 winners, but a certain Moderator announced "Congrats to the Two lucky winners" therefore causing a rumble.

Secret winners meant we weren't told the upped total then. Sorry about that!

Like any other MMO dev cycle.
