Figured I'd introduce myself since I may as well see some of you in-game.
I am a big fan RPG games - western rpg's exclusively. I have no love for jrpg's at all, other than the nostalgia that comes from older games, like FF3, and I really dislike anime. I have played many of the classic titles, including the Baldur's gate games, Planescape Torment, Nox, IWD and NWN (and the expansions.) As for online games, I did play WoW heavily at one point, but that was many years ago. I also played City of Heroes (R.I.P.) and both Guild Wars games. I also used to play Dungeon Siege and Diablo 2 a lot.
The appeal I get from rpg's, is how I can create a character, and develop them. I am a sucker for character creation and class systems. I love skill trees, and theory-crafting builds. I tend to not really care for story, unless the game calls for it, or it is engaging. I'm not a fan of rg's that try to emulate that feeling of playing a pnp game, and will have text on the screen describing the atmosphere or how something smells or whatnot.
As for tabletop/pnp games - I never got into them. I played one session of Vampire: The Dark Ages, and watched a few friends play D&D, but that is it. I dabbled in WH40K, but I mostly got into it simply because I enjoyed painting the little men...
As for this game, I am stoked. I am a fan of D&D based rpg games, and I enjoyed NWN. I also enjoyed previous Cryptic titles. When I play D&D games, my class of choice is a dwarf cleric with a 2-handed hammer. I don't know how true Cryptic is following the D&D ruleset (nor am I aware of any sort fo changes/updates in the rules) but if players are able to team any race with any class, that would be nice. I tend to solo a lot on games like this, since I am introvert in real life, but I do not strictly solo. hopefully this game will release sooner than later, and I will see some of you in-game
