Broken account... Back now... Anyone else had this?

So four days ago I suddenly couldn't get into anything PWE.

No forums, no games, nothing. There was no warning or reason to expect it to happen.

After lodging a case with PWE and a series of communications I seem to be back. Well I hope I am back.

Has anyone else experienced this sudden cold lock out? Or am I the only one?

Kinda hoping it's all over, but a little nervous...

I had something like this when things switched from Cryptic to PW, not sure if it was the same, but a support ticket eventually fixed the problem.

This is one of those things that sometimes if some of you lost access we can't talk about some things publicly sometimes. What I can say is the cause of it often is related to this thread. So if your access outside of this forum upgrade was suddenly lost or restored, it's a VERY good idea to change your password immediately! I'd also recommend using two-step verification if there is any question with your site's and browser's security. Finally, the upcoming game and current Cryptic games use Account Guard. If you're worried about being hacked, this can help a lot. None of these things are mandatory, but recommended.

Interesting. Was your problem a "do not talk about" account problem? Or something different?

Yes, it was one of those. I was astounded to learn I'm not allowed to talk directly about it, since it essentially seems to have been a technical glitch in the PWE "account defence systems".
What I can say is the cause of it often is related to this thread.
Nope. It definitely wasn't that. PWE have been able to share the type of issue, but I'm not sure I'm allowed to discuss that. I'm waiting to hear if that's allowed.

That was a mandatory part of getting my account operational again. Something PWE support was very specific about.

I'm not worried about being hacked. I'm a poor target and I've been in this game (computers and the internet) a very long time. That said two-step may be useful. I'll talk with PWE support about whether that could have prevented this from happening.

    Cheers!
