Welcome Back! (+ New Forum FAQ)

Welcome to the newly-upgraded Neverwinter forums! Please pardon our dust as we finish up our upgrade -- there are some settings that can only be applied to the final version of the forums, we couldn't set them on the staging versions. This includes embedding images.

So, quick FAQ because there are always questions. Post in this thread if you're confused about something on the forums, and we'll help make it work.

-You can set your avatar (custom avatars are a go!) and signature through the User CP (control panel). There's a link to it in the header, below the Peanut Labs ad.

-Old PMs have been wiped. My apologies for the lack of notice, this was not anticipated.

-The Private Message system is available at http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/private.php?folderid=0

Is there a background color option besides text or is that not available? (Speaking of, I have to change some text colors now the background is Chartreuse...err, red.)

You mean like a highlighter, background color setting for text? I don't think so...

More like we can set the background color but yeah highlight also can encompass it. Seems likely not. Well, only thing I need is my Mod title listing back, but if I think about anything publicly on the forums not clear since the change, I'll ask it here!

Is there a way to increase font size? The text in threads I'm able to read and most other places. It's places like the main forum page and the folders (or whatever they're called. Stuff like "Neverwinter Discussion.") where there's the list of threads that I have trouble with.

Yeah, I fully agree. There wasn't time to get that fixed before launch, it's hardy a blocker -- but I do want to get it fixed.

I miss the colour highlight and click the colour of the text option. Not a huge deal, just something I miss

Well - now that I broke my forums by switching to the Mobole skin (and I can't switch back), the colours are kind of a moot point right now!

Could I request a large increase in the character limit for posts? As a chronicler and sometimes story-teller, 10000 characters is far too short. This has made my Grimoire of Time quite un-editable. I would like to request 100,000 characters (or more) for posts please, if possible. Thanks for the consideration!

If spam is an issue for upping this, maybe look into something like needing to be a member with "X amount of posts" for/or "X amount of time registered" before you're allowed to post beyond the initial limit?

Yeah, so much wasted space. :( Will be criminal when people using 500x250 signatures start posting "+1 \n 10 chars"...

I'd like to mention that "This is the last staff post in this thread" thing (must be some kind of icon near the post number: http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/images/misc/stafftracker_lastpost.png) doesn't seem to load: adaram648 breaking the Forums

Oh, you know the login in the upper right corner of the forums? It has been for forever that I doesn't keep me logged despite me selecting the option. What is worse is that if I try to log using the vBulletin login, it doesn't recognice my account. Any recipe to fix those? Or maybe I'm doing something really wrong about it.

An interesting thought. I'm not sure whether this is settable, but I can at least look into it. Because it doesn't affect major functionality, though, it won't be a huge priority for me, but I will look into it eventually.

Not sure that's an option, I'm afraid -- I've never seen an option to cut out that space.

As in a list of logged in users? I'm not really comfortable with that, to be honest, because of privacy concerns.

Last staff post: known issue, we're working on that.

It isn't keeping you logged in?... It won't keep you logged in if you close the browser, but it should keep you logged in otherwise. Where are you able to try to log in through vBulletin? Because we've tied vBulletin accounts to your PWE account, you should never need to (or be able to) log in through vBulletin.

Thanks for the replies and consideration. The character limit issue really is a big deal for me as it has made many of my lore posts un-editable as they are all well over the 10k limit.

    As for the login comment:

What I do is I have two bookmarks and I first load the first one which remembers me and then I load the second one:
Login here, check to remember you:
    http://nw.perfectworld.com/

Now, when you first go to load the forums on a new browser session, do this:
    1. First travel here, and you should still be remembered and logged in: http://nw.perfectworld.com/
    2. Then go here and you should be logged in still: http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/

Until we have a resolution on the characters my FAQ is also un-editable. If the 10k characters are enforced I'll literally have to make an entirely new thread and re do it with multiple posts stored at the beginning, as I can't insert additional posts between my original 3 posts and the other users without deleting everybody from then to a later post of mine editing out my old replies making those "additional spots", and move THOSE replies...well, you get the idea.

As for the logout issues earlier...the whole of PWE has had (or is sporadically still having depending when you read this,) load delay and login issues timing out the connection. It is known and is being worked on at the time of this posting, and hopefully will be completely resolved by the time future readers peruse this thread's historical postings.

I had a lot of trouble logging in today. When ever I used to login, it will just hang (the progress circle never getting response).
After repeated attempts when I logged in using core connect, the vBulliten didn't recognize my login. So I had to logout and login back - though thankfully this time I was able to login after three-four attempts only.

I was wondering if it is a known issue?

Yes, there are a few issues they are actively working on resolving as we speak. This is one of them.
So, if anyone is having any issues, give it an hour or so and if the issues still persist, please feel free to PM any one of us and we'll make sure the right team gets it!

It autologs me out on browser closure. I'm not used to that feature in any other forum so I found that event strange and though it may have been related to the previous merge thing. Being in lurker mode doesn't help. :p

If I'm not logged in, I try to log by clicking in the "User CP" which brings me to the logging interface. But it doesn't recognize by user/password (tried forum name too just in case).

Curious. I remember a few times finding myself logged here after having closed the browser so I may have done that without noticing. But lately I just jump directly into the forum. In any case, thank you very much for the hint. :)

@gillrmn: thank you. :o I do thank RPGMaker for the placeholders while I think of something more serious and fitting to the forum. Like replacing the signature with the Foundry quest screenshot equivalent.:p

In Firefox and IE9/10 you can ctrl+mouse_scroll_wheel to zoom text in and out. It's not a perfect solution but it works okay and is site specific.

Folks, we're aware that there might be some forum issues that pop up. If you are having issues, try LOGGING OUT AND CLEARING YOUR CACHE FIRST, AND LOG BACK IN.

I can't keep track of how many issues are now solved this way.

If this does not work, please create a support ticket by using the support link (or email directly if you have the infinite redirect loop and cannot make a ticket the site way.)

And finally, IF you send one of us a PM for any Moderator reason, send ALL of us that PM. We may be not actively getting PM's or not on at all despite what latest forum thread times posted show. This way, if one of us is out, all of us can get the message still. Our forum mod names alphabetically are:

    • ambisinisterr
    • bubbabinsky
    • iamtruthseeker
    • Zebular

And a quick easy PM all setup is:
    ambisinisterr; bubbabinsky; iamtruthseeker; zebular;

Thank you for your understanding during this transition phase and we look forward to seeing your many posts all across the NWO forums!

Hey Kalecto! Welcome to Neverinter's neck of the woods! We're up and running with the new forum so far, but not without the expected problems and resolutions. A few missing threads here, a few stuck players for no reason there (all restored of course :) )

We look forward to you playing too!
