DDO since launch. I miss the old DDO, back when the cap was 10. When Elite harbor quests wiped parties, traps were actually deadly and goodblade was a con.

I still play DDO, just not as much as I did before. I hope that NW lives up to its potential.

Though I agree with you on those points said here(and a few unsaid) - DDO is not 100% f2p as NW has been claiming, but it is f2p nevertheless. That is why most people have b:shocked face when they hear NW is completely f2p.

If you try to play DDO as a "true" f2p game, the returns are so low that it'd be more efficient to do a part-time/freelance job and pay for a sub. It's basically a very cleverly advertised demo, though there's nothing wrong with that.

I'm still VERY skeptical about NWO's f2p model, and remain such up until the moment I actually see how it works. I just hope they can maintain game balance; I'd rather pay a monthly fee than have to buy cash-store items because f2p characters are gimp at birth.
PW has launched other game raiderz with beta on 8th which also has active action combat. I thought I would try it as I won't have to make another user id.

People keep mentioning this game so much I'm almost ready to try it. I'm really not into the art style though, even though I dabble in anime-geekdom.

Dropping in on this thread again just to say, I almost renewed my DDO sub due to NWO delay, until I saw the new store items. ~$1.5 to bypass raid timers, ~$4 to deconstruct Greensteel items (almost non-existant outside of the store). DDO's store has finally dropped to the level of cheap Korean (or dying Western) MMOs. I feel like I finally completely gave up on that game, and will stick to RaiderZ instead.

I sincerely hope that NWO will use a more sensible and balanced payment model that doesn't kill the joy of playing in both those who do and who don't pay.

Am a founder on DDO. Still play and will continue to do so. DDO has the right method of PVP. Hidden away in a tavern where I don't have to know about it.

Am anticipating the high prices that are currently seen on STO. And some lock box plague.

The raid timer should just be removed period they don't serve any purpose anymore as for the yellow dopant it was to be expected, it's easier anyways to just grind out more ingredients lol

There is nothing game breaking or p2win about these items.

PW has a horrible reputation for pay to win. It's long history is documented all over the net.
However, Cryptic has promised that the Neverwinter cash shop will only have consumables and cosmetic items for sale.

I'm giving Cryptic the benefit of the doubt since its early (even though I do not believe it for a second). It would be a first for PW or Cryptic as far as I know.

Those new items in the DDO store are beyond laughable. It's yet another slap in the face for us long time players who grinded stuff out aka earned it.

But Pay 2 Win is here to stay..its the new crack for the industry. As long as people will pay real money for digital 0s and 1s, mmo companies will develop new 0s and 1s...

I think p2w is a very subjective issue. When the community of the game starts saying it is p2w, it is clearly a signal that something is wrong. A game probably just becomes p2w when major chunk of players perceive it to be.

For example, the content requiring for you to 'win' may require you to do hateful activity (like doing a boring but difficult dungeon many times), players will start to feel that game is p2w.

I am excited to see what it will be like. I tried Champions online and lets just say I wont be playing that again (hope they use different people for this one). It would be nice if they learned from DDO's mistakes, but also the things that DDO did right. I am a little wary of it being based on 4.0 rules but still want to give it a try. Hope to get a Beta Key :)
