I tried DDO for a while but just couldn't get into it. The MMO I've honestly played the most was Warhammer Online. One of my cousins and his friends invited me to join up with them and I had a blast playing with them.
I'm more PnP than anything, from second edition through 3.5 as well as others, especially White Wolf's previous system. I haven't played much 4th beyond the D&D FB game. Guess I'm going to have to deal with a little bit of a learning curve. I'll have to agree with someone else who said they thought the game got easier with later versions. Second was nasty compared to 3.0/3.5 and with area effect spells not hurting allies in 4th it sounds too easy. I remember the days a poorly placed fireball *could* TPK.
I can't wait for this though! I've been an avid Forgotten Realms fan since Baldur's Gate came out for the PC. It's the only campaign setting I've actually bought books for. I've played both NWN games and their expansions and really enjoyed them. I got into it years after they came out, so I never really got into the mods. I can't wait to see what some of the other FR fans come up with in the Foundry!
I ran a successful NWN PW server for many years, and have done a bit of toolset work in NWN2, and played on several awesome PWs on there. I have an active DDO account, with a few mid-level characters, I play LOTRO irregularly, and am currently leveling 2 characters in SWTOR.
I have an extensive history in PnP D&D, and all the official D&D PC (and a couple console) Game titles. Forgotten Realms is my specialty, with a focus on the Underdark, and the drow specifically.
I have been watching details on this game closely, and can't wait to get to play and build adventures with it.
I won't tell you how old I am but I played redbox D&D and all that until I got my first windows computer, then no more PnP for me. I played Eye of the Beholder and Menzobarenzan when they were new. Baldur's Gate was great, and all it's cousins were fun. I played NWN from black box on, NWN2 not so much but I was on the beta for the client and toolset. Then i switched to WoW for 5ish years. Lately I have been playing DDO but now that I know about NWO I suppose I will just be reading/posting here until it comes out. (lol and I was gonna buy the new XCOM, guess Fireaxis can kiss my $60 goodbye now)

With a 2013 release, and F2P, nothing wrong with getting Xcom also.
And I'd check for succubui and mimics before kissing anything goodbye...the sign of a gamer too far gone to save I guess
Are most people here coming from the old Neverwinter Nights RPG's? Are there DDO players here?
How many people are experienced Foundry developers from STO?
Curious
Well met and welcome to Neverwinter!
I don't feel as though I am coming from any game from the past, as I still play many of them to this day. I haven't played NWN in quite a while but I do still undulge in NWN2. I also still player DDO maybe once or twice a month. Currently, the two MMO games I play the most are STO and Forsaken World. Beyond that, I play a HAMSTER load of Civilization V: Gods & Kings. Been a Civaholic since Civ 1. Just one more turn?
I'm a long time DDO power gamer and have found myself a little worn out on it lately. Decided to pop over here and check things out, looking forward to learning about what's in store

I also played (and loved) DDO, but due to my lack of money currently, was unable to enjoy the full game.
