If you don't use it what do you care if it is there?

Tab on DC is worth using because whoever you put the mark on, it allows you to use an extra direct heal on them and is very useful. But the problem is it's often broken and keeps the target and the caster in combat mode, at least it was doing this the last I knew about it. I've been doing exclusively DPS on my cleric for ages now and haven't been using tab heal. But it's a useful function and should stay, just it needs fixing.

If you're talking about the other Tab function for cleric, this is also useful and needs to stay. In DPS mode it allows you to restore divinity at will which in turn allows you to cast encounters, why wouldn't you want that, and holding it down and fully charging it in healer mode allows you to cast endless heals without using divinity providing you have the correct feat chosen. This is extremely useful for very dangerous periods in battles where you are running out of divinity (and therefore heals) and need to both recharge divinity AND heal at the same time and get through a difficult moment and keep everyone alive.

I would actually see this from the other side:
How do you efficiently play a cleric healer without having tab heal on tank?

There are two religions when it comes to cleric healing:
    * The slack and laid back one: Just keep Healing Word up and tab heal tank. For this one having tab heal on tank is critical.
    * The very busy one: Run around and use Bastion to heal everyone. For this one you might do ok without tab heal on tank, but you might struggle to get heals on your dps in time.

This has been discussed in several forums and the conclusion is fairly clear: Healing Word-based healing works best. This gives a steady heal source for everyone regardless of the healer being busy. In particular in AE heavy environments Healing Word rocks hard. Healing Word also gives the healer time to do some dps - healer dps basically means applying debuffs :)

But I never managed to convince a Bastion disciple that Healing Word works better. Religion :)

I've actually had someone complain because Bastion wasn't in my rotation.

I use both at the same time. Healing word is always up, bastion of health I throw out from a distance and usually hit the people I need it to, and I also use Intercession which is a life saver sometimes and useful all the time.

I use the tab key healing on all three healers that I play (DC, Paladin and SW). Although, in RDG content I wait until the final boss to apply it as it just is not needed for that content and a lot of the time it is just as a precaution in case the tank gets unlucky.

for most RTQ I usually apply it to one of the tanks and I have to use it a few times during the run and usually even more so in runs where I queue up for it solo instead of entering as part of a premade group.

For RADQ I usually have to apply it at the first mini-boss otherwise the tank is probably going down with out it. At least that has been my experience so far in random public content and in private content as well although it seems to happen less often there.

For master content, never done it so no idea what works there but I presume if I need it for some of the normal content then I probably definitely need it there.

Skirmishes random or otherwise it is a total waste of time.

as far as Bastion of Health goes I still have not used that one yet. To me it is like the Astral Shield, looks to me like it should be useful in some of the content I do but I have never used it.

It should be noted though, that in RTQ, dragon hunts and RADQ I use my Daily Powers a lot and because of my build I usually get it back quickly during a boss fight. Quickly meaning I am usually getting my daily power back at the right time when I need it again.
