BUG: Workshop Collection Box eats gold and mats and doesn't say sorry.

b0rkch0pb0rkch0p Member Posts: 403 Arc User
I've seen this reported a few times across things but never gets any attention.. This costs crafters a log of mats and gold. And during gond, it eats up 120mats every time the box is full.. I didn't even put 1 and 2 together when this was happening until after doing so math on the amount of Sprockets I got vs the amount of mats I spent months crafting. Please fix this.

Simple explanation:
3 tasks going once they fill the box they each try to start a new task, but can't, but they take the materials and gold (commission) for their task. Then they Sit and wait till you empty / collect the box. When you do they restart their tasks and take the mats and gold again for the start. Leaving the Gold and Mats they used previously lost.

screen shots

Here you can see there is 1 active task going, the Siltstone Whetstone, I have 500 raw mats in my inventory. and 200 gold.

here is the current order still working.

Clicked finish now for 10 morale. And Bree is no longer working. But my mats are 2less and my gold is less the commission.

Here you see the box is Full.

All these lost supplies and mats. Multiple this x 3 workers and (for me) 54 Shops. thats 324 Mats lost in 1 box full. say average cost is 3 silver, that nearly 5 gold lost every time the boxes fill (and I try to empty them every so many hrs) but not always possible,.

They know about this, has been reported for many many times now. Have been linked a VIDEO showing it. It cost me 30,000,000 in 1 month and another user ~150,000,000 in about a week. Over the past 2.5 years it has also been costing me a minimum of 31,250 per kit, per day, as many as 10 times a day. So a paulty 285,000,000 or so.

But they say they will look into! Will post any results on the forums. Can't wait! 😐😑

But... this can be avoided with a bit of planning and organisation can't it?
They probably imagine that people who don't want to lose resources will stop doing it.

That is not an answer.. and if they reply with that being the fix... That will be yet another slap in the face

If it is a bug, it should be fixed. You cannot avoid that unless the "plan" is: not to use the feature.

It is a bug. When you try to start a task without having the required materials, it throws an error, "Failed to Stat Task X" and consumes nothing, not gold, supplements or materials. But if the task is repeating and the previous task was rushed or orocced Miracle worker or the box is full, it tries to start the task and fails. It shouldn't be able to start the task at all, therefore nothing would be consumed.

It doesn't seem like it's much but when you add up x all your shops you get the real idea just how much the game steals.. And if you're doing kits / MW stuff.. unnf.

Ahh yes the day I noticed this bug it cost me nearly 20 mill AD in stolen/disappeared/gone mastercraft materials (crysteline ornaments, woven whiskers, etc.) when trying to make one weapon.

It makes me want to literally puke thinking about how many times this has happened to me when i had an abubdance of materials and didnt know this was happening.

I have many recordings showcasing the issue across all professions and all levels, this bug is atrocious!

"Planning and organization" so uhh, what do you think the purpose of the box is supposed to be, if not specifically for setting tasks to cook and complete while you're not on that character, heck maybe not even on the game?

Wouldn't mentioned planning an organization actually be that you're using this "feature" to put the "workshop" to work and because of your planning and organization you're just getting fkd?

The planning and organisation I had in mind amounts to "Don't order more things than will fit in the box"...

that makes no sense nor a valid answer for this thread.. This thread apparently didn't get the monday seal of notice.. so maybe it will today.. I doubt it ... but none the less.. maybe.

I was thinking "no biggie, i'll just cancel my workers before i empty my box" except you cant cancel them with a full box lol. This needs to be addressed
  • pitshadepitshade Member Posts: 5,665 Arc User
If you have VIP rank 12, put all your gold in the Shared Bank before emptying the box. The tasks won't restart that way.

i dont think thats the issue though. it isnt the next task starting, its the failed attempt that already lost you those mats. once the box is full youve already lost :/
i was just kinda hoping that by canceling them before emptying the box they may return the mats... twas a pipe dream

Another week of no acknowledgment.. my dreams were crushed too. maybe next week.. but like most things that affect the actual players in a negative way and prevent us making money, this will probably never be fixed.

Nope this doesn't work either. If you're short on the commission it will still eat your materials. Doesn't matter if your box is full or empty

⚠️⚠️ When the workshop finishes an order, if the next order is unable to be started for ANY reason, you will ALWAYS lose your materials and possibly your commission

it is depressing.. to say the least.. I've cut down on my crafting because of this.. it's just depressing. After I spent months working on getting all 54 of mine to level 4.. I now am like.. why bother. Yea I'm still coming out ahead as what I lose is minimal compared to higher end crafts.. it's the point. This has been going on for a long time and to even think about what folks are losing.. it's depressing =(
  • madmartigan#1315 madmartigan Member Posts: 32 Arc User
all level 4, jeezus. thats a lot of myrhh :p
lets keep this near the top for as long as we can. at least some others might get riled up about it too if they see it.
thanks again for pointing this out!

Lil over 100,000 black iron pendants. But on top of that is the mats... Which is where i lost a lot. I had everyone making them so .. it adds up .. i dont eveb want to think about how many i lost. Its disheartening.

@nitocris83 is there any acknowledgement from cryptic that this is a known / on the agenda to be fixed type of bug?
  • madmartigan#1315 madmartigan Member Posts: 32 Arc User
yup. confirmation that theyre at least aware would be nice. ignoring a problem like this is kid stuff :/

nitocris showed his colors when demorgon first got a rework. he made an amazing post that got us all super excited about it, while failing to tell us that rtq would be basically unuseable and nobody who relied on the random queue would be able to make their 100k daily anymore. that person is not our friend, they have likely never played the game :/

    1. Demogorogon has nothing to do with this thread.
    2. @nitocris83 is a she.
    3. The "amazing post" was not written by @nitocris83 but another person.

@madmartigan#1315 would be nice if you'd edit your comments out.. keep this thread on topic so maybe someone from the team responds.

Issue was brought up in last week's report and during the live sync-up meeting for escalation.
