Need to fix (similar bound items) so they stack, with same descriptions...

I know many who say they have Some Scrolls of Life, or Mass Scrolls of Life that are (Unbound/Account/Character) Bound yet have X of them with same BINDING, and yet they won't COMBINE into a single stack of the same BINDING. Why so I can have 3x stacks when I should have only 1?

The same is TRUE for Preservation Wards (Unbound/Account/Character bound) yet they won't COMBINE (those of same BINDING) into a max stack either! They really need to FIX this, as it's been going on for years!

I have at least 4 types of account bound p-ward that do not stack to each other.

Yes, please, it's so annoying to do the inventory management and such things make it worse.

It's not a bug, it's a feature. In the shop, they have bank slots and big bags to sell.

Yea well I admit that may be one source of the issue, as some event Wards have slightly different description; even though the names are identical as are the bindings.

Still often I see Pres Wards, Scrolls of Life / Mass Scrolls of Life (not from events) from Dungeons, XP Rewards, or other Mean's that don't stack as well. And yes same names, same identical descriptions (Under the Hood) thing, and yes still won't stack!

It be nice to see them clean this up a bit... <3

    :(

That's because, while they may be named the same, they aren't the same under the hood.

It would be just too easy to make everything unbound and then trade unbind tokens 1:1 for Skeleton Keys.

The same item that can be obtained in different ways will have differences in the back-end for things like tracking purposes. For example, it's important to have data on an item that is obtained via a promo or an RCA free gift if it is is also available in the Zen Market. This allows us to pull necessary metrics for both frequency of use, claim, etc.

This allows us to pull necessary metrics for both frequency of use, claim, etc.

If that's the reason then it's a really poor programming design. Tracking such things can be implemented in so many ways and it shouldn't involve the content of player's inventory or bank at all.

But why statistics, like frequency of use, could possibly matter? The only statistics that could make sense is tracking purchases, but that can be registered during the process of purchase, so there is no need to track player's inventory/bank for this purpose.

But if you really need to track the usage of Preservation Wards then why does it matter which stack of was used (I mean a player can choose the stack to use, he can even buy from AH and never use the other stacks, which he claimed as rewards)?

Once a player claims it you register that and that's it, the player shouldn't be able to claim it again (at least for consumable items like Preservation Wards or Scrolls of Life). Again, player's Inventory/Bank shouldn't matter at all for this.
