Unable to Bid on Anything in Auction House

This issue is on all of my characters. I am unsure exactly when it happened, but noticed it a few weeks ago and reported it as a charge ticket. They recommended posting it here.

Basically, the BID option is grayed out on all my characters and on all items. I can buy items but cannot bid.

Platform: XBox 1

What I have tried: Changing maps (it persists on all maps), exiting the game and re-entering, shutting down the Xbox and unplugging it then restarting. None of this changes the issue.

I am not sure exactly when this happened as I do not often bid. One possible problem might be that my VIP membership (Level 12) expired in March and I did not renew it. In removing my VIP privileges, maybe it also removed my bidding abilities?

1. Does the item allow you to bid? i.e. the high bid column is not '---'.
2. Did you enter an amount to the box?

They always suggest posting here when they don't have a clue about something - it's their default avoidance tactic instead of what it should be: "we are going to escalate this" to get input from an actual developer.

I believe this happened to me a few years back but I can't remember clearly. I think it's one of those 'weird connection' things they have in this game so I'd suggest checking your mail isn't full (delete all old rubbish) as a starting point.

@armadeonx right? These support staff are so bad. They just tell you to report stuff to the forums and then wont give you any compensation, even when its completely their fault.

Upgraded 3 companions to mythic that turn out not to work and want your tokens back? Report it to the forums! Profession system let's 100% focus still produce normal items? Report it to the forums! Cant purchase an item in zen market because your VIP days exceed the limit? Report it to the forums!

Yep totally. Speaking as someone who spent years as a support specialist for a large well known company - and dealt with the support teams of many other companies, I can say for certain that these guys get it all so wrong.

That is not the actual support team's fault of course. Management dictate the rules, culture, the priority given to support issues, what can be escalated & what should be bounced back.

We all know that Cryptic as an entity does not place much importance on supporting it's customer base or even the quality of it's own product. This is not news - bugs that are years old, QoL issues that are never addressed and customer feedback that is simply ignored.

Yes, the items (all that I tried) allow bids. I could not enter a total because the "Place a Bid" button is grayed out.

And, no, my mail is not full. I have 3-5 mails with no attachments in each of my characters boxes. It occurs on ALL my characters.

But, thanks for trying. I have actually had two issues since Sharandar went live-- this auction bug and the Signet of Patronage for Vallehas that does not half the boon costs. Both times I was told to post it to the forums.

I also was told by support that an issue I had with that 20-sided die (the one for fun not the companion one) would be escalated. It freezes my game. 50,000 AD and I have to reboot if I use it! It was escalated 3 months ago...

Anybody wondering why I let my Level 12 VIP lapse?

Btw, if you have a decent connection speed (it may be a bit extreme) but you may want to consider reinstalling the game? There's a REMOTE chance that may fix it...

No, I've done it before - everything is stored server side and you only need to remember your login

Thanks for the help. I did uninstall and all characters are still OK. However, still no ability to place a bid. The option remains grayed out on all characters, even though the items have a bid price listed. (It took me over an hour to download and reinstall BTW).

I really think that it has to do with the removing of my VIP perks. One of the perks is no posting fees (which I am now paying of course). I think when they tweaked that they somehow messed up and took away my bidding ability.

Another wild guess. Does the character have AD in his purse?

LOL... yes. All have at least 500K. Even items with bids of 5 AD are grayed out.

Are your overflow bags full?

No. Not on any of my characters. Plenty of space. It is that way on all of my characters-- I have nine. None of them have anything in an overflow bag and plenty of space in inventory. Good thought though.

This has happened to me twice.

Once it was because I had too many messages. I had to delete some.

Once my professions inventory was full.

I love the way this game can impede functions like this and doesn't actually tell you why.

Did you delete the only character you played through the campaign with? You need to reach some level, and have completed some amount of intro quests before you can do a lot of in-game functions (as a countermeasure for bots).

So if only 1 guy had done the stuff before and now he's deleted 🤷🏽‍♂️

No, I have not deleted any characters and all my toons have been level 80 for quite a while. My Inboxes all have less than 10 messages (3-5 actually) and none of my profession bags are full on any of my characters. It is on ALL my characters. I cannot bid on any items (even those with a 1 AD beginning bid) using any of my characters and I have checked this in several locations, including going directly to the auction house. Up until the last few weeks, all toons were able to bid.
