Risk vs Reward impossible to complete due to Disconnect.

The quest to unlock Runic Essence "Risk vs Reward" grants 10 Chaos Essence, which you convert into Crystalized Resonance in an ME to use to allow you to win a Runic Etching, which you need to complete the quest.
Unfortunately, on my latest character, I got to the transition between the 2nd and 3rd zones and after it took an inordinate amount of time to load zone 3, it finally gave up and disconnected me. When I managed to get the game working again I was too late to finish the ME and had lost the one chance to gain a runic etching.
So now I can't gain Essence from the Runic Encounters in Undermountain.
Is there a way round this or am I screwed?
