CTA Event Requires too many repetitions

theycallmetomutheycallmetomu Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 1,861 Arc User
The new event structure requires too many repetitions; if it was 30 instances per event for 3 tokens, that might be somewhat reasonable (though even then it's excessive, boring, and repetitive), but having to do all 10 in one day means that the process of earning the new tokens is grueling and not particularly enjoyable. New content-or rather, new motivations to do old content-shouldn't feel like a painful slog.

Also, we still can't preview the item set bonus, so how is anyone supposed to be able to decipher whether it's even worth doing the event?

Please restructure the event; 3 tokens per CTA event isn't unreasonable (forcing players to participate over a wide variety of events instead of just focus on one seems reasonable), but the sheer amount of time that goes into getting the tokens is just painful and will deter players from actually bothering to participate because of how boring and repetitive the event is.

That's my feedback anyway.

I mean I'd take 5-7 replay's per character for token, yet suspect a goal was so 2 or 3 character's earn it, otherwise you'll likely require to invest a lot more time...

Still I see we have Brutal's Rank 3 that drop, thought if I remember you can also earn Rank 4/5/6/7 from Chests as well? I found it usual that Waukeen's best chest however offered at Rank 5, yet perhaps they are encouraging more to upgrading the lower enchantments because they are more Rare.

FYI: No reply required just something to pass on as suggestions...
    @nitocris83

    ----
NOTE: I have heard rumor's however the repetitions may be desirable as a Purple Guard Drake can 'rarely' / 'sometimes' drop from the CTA chests as well. The Griffon will take a little longer to earn but still...

There also a [Alliance Battle Horn] that drops and offer's 35% AP regenerations & +4000 Power for 1 minute every 600 seconds similar to the one offered from Siege. So don't the event more often can have in fact some very nice rewards...

Hell we even grinding for? Don't even have full details for the weapons and they expect people to mindlessly grind and wait months to even get em.

Yup makes no sense when it would take longer to get weapons from CTA (having to wait and do 4 call to arms events to get set) than from farming seals for primal for new players or doing campaigns for older.

Technically, the entire game is a waste of time. That's why it is entertainment.
I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.

They should have structured it as a series of three non-repeatable quests. Each time you finish the skirmish, you get a lesser token. Each non-repeatable quest needs X lesser tokens (LESS THAN TEN PLZ). Once you've done all three, boom: you've got your tokens for the event. No "Well you have to do 10 a day and they don't rollover" nonsense. You wanna do 4 a day all 6 days? Gotcha covered. You insane and wanna grind it all in one day? That's kosher too.

    But NOPE.

To be fair 10 runs only takes 20 minutes top :)

    First world problem ;)

.. buying weapons from tbar store takes .. half a second. .

we are not talking about end game pieces, but weapons for alts .. so ya.. 4 cta events is too long. 1 cta event with 40 skirms wouldve been fine.

You can buy any of the CTA skins for your weapons at least. Current CTA is half the price of the others.

I thought of that as well.. say its 3 total tokens, why not have the bar at 30 skirms.. each ten you can get one, but it goes for the entire event.. if you want to do all 30 in one day go ahead.. if you only can do 3 today.. go ahead..

Maybe I am missing something here - if the weapons start at 475 iL then after refining to max wont they be iL 550+ or something?

The primal from the seal trader is 455 and goes to 500, so 475 to 520 is probably what it will be.
Thank you. So better than my iL500 stuff then :)

Yeah, no set bonuses listed for the weapons, is this like the Winter fest mount insignia bonus where they are going to post that later? I mean it seems like a pretty important stat to have missing on launch.

Frankly I want the peg leg. Now if they just made pirate fashions at a reasonable price instead a million+ AD in the market I would be happy. "Arrrrr" [taking like a pirate]

I did get a purple mount drop on the first day (the drake), So frankly I have nothing to complain about.

Well maybe a few will earn a Purple Guard Drake that 'can' drop from the chests. ;)

Not exactly. Primal 500 ilvl has +10% damage from set bonus that makes it superior to +20 ilvl from the new set. Also there's the fact that Primal can be Exalted giving it +20 ilvl so in the end we are comparing two sets both with 520 ilvl.

The only thing that can make the new set better is if it has some huge set bonus or if they increase its item level in the next event.

This does not represent my experience with these runs. They took like, 2 minutes to queue and another 3 to 5 minutes per actual run in my experience.

I guess that is technically still only an hour of gameplay a day, but some of us got lives!

Every time I queued it popped up immediately. The only hangup there was people not accepting immediately.

Most of these events are useless wastes of time. This one is no different.

Most of my run throughs weren't fast, but usually done in 2 min 30 sec. (47 sec is my record - not including turn in time.)
  • pitmonster#5684 pitmonster Member Posts: 537 Arc User
After about a hundred runs I am surprised who gummed up some runs still are. Light the 3 fires, pick a zone and kill the waves. If you are slow, pick a closer zone. If you are fast, pick the furthermost zone. If you a low level, pair up.

When I run my SW through, he is so fast that I will typically light two if not all three fires myself then fly around doing cleanup. Of course the leechers throw a monkey wench into the formula.

Oh, I love the runs where everyone runs to where Frastr spawns, bypassing lighting the fires...

Me too, but nearly as much as the ones where I take off like a bat out of hell across the wall, start lighting fires, turn around and look - oh, 3 players are just standing there behind the wall. I PMed them and stood their waiting for them to come help out. That run took almost 4 minutes.

Yep. Can't live with them. Can't slaughter them. Can't feed them to the goblins.

10 runs is pretty reasonable; although if you have a ton of toons, that adds up.
I've had pretty much instantaneous queue, unless there are player declines.
    it's not a give-away, we're earning a reward
10 runs (since they go so quickly) give you a chance to run around, figure out the fires, figure out if you don't fight the monsters by the fire it goes out, relight the fire & you get the optional kudo, realize if you want to fight frasr you need to head up there fast, that you need to pick up coins before frasr goes down & that, hey, some loser is just sitting by the fire because they're too good to work for the reward. and yes, it's boring by the last couple runs (take a look at the scenery or climb a snowpile & fire range weapons from there to change up the game) ...
and remember, it's a GAME & free with ways to earn/purchase (without real money) some of the really fun stuff...just takes more hard work.
I did have the drake drop on a run & the companion, so that was fun & works for me ...
events are fun, like hitting a local casino or playing the daily lotto; jubilee/winter fest are Vegas/Christmas
What makes this CTA frustrating is even if you play by the rules and are willing to role the dice, the game never pays off because there's a glitch & there's no info as to why it's happening or how to avoid the bug. Timely communication would make it all a whole lot better instead of everyone getting frustrated guessing! Thought the emergency patch was that communication but no joy :(
Cryptic or whoever sets up the events, seems to care that there's a 'fair' outcome to event glitches. Not always fast & not perfect, but they usually have some response rather than just pretending the problem never happened.

I would seriously pay Real Money to have a "feed afk-er to goblins" option.

I agree, 10 a day, for the last 4 days and "2" tokens. Must be bugged.

10 is too many when you have to do 10 reps to find out you are bugged and get nothing.
