Mod 15: The Worst "Mod" Yet?

nl54#3191 nl54 Member Posts: 143 Arc User
To call it a full mod is tough, hence the quotations. All we really have for the next 3 months or so is a skirmish, and that's not even playable yet because the intro content itself is bugged, halting progression. At best, this looks like a "b" supplement and a poorly implemented one at that.

what do you mean by "halting progression"? There is a showstopper bug in the crafting part, where you can get stuck with a full delivery box and unable to proceed, but the A.I. "campaign" has only a smaller issue, where you could not turn in the "egg retrieval" quest - however, there is a workaround for that. Or is there something else?
    Hoping for improvements...

I did the egg quest twice, no problem. Then it sent me to scratch a giant's nether regions. I did that twice. After completing that, I got a mail telling me to return to HQ for a beholder convention, When I got there, there wasn't any quest. Granted, I was capped on acorns for the week, but surely there must be some dailies to earn the secondary currency just like the other campaigns, right? Wrong. Nothing. No "come back tomorrow", no directions in the campaign window to steer progression like there normally is, etc. I'm left playing with my junk after spending less than a few hours on the day of launch.

The problem is, if preview was any indication, the repeatable quests weren't supposed to all be weeklies. It was a known issue mentioned in the last patch notes. You can only get to your max weekly haul if you use the free box from claims agent, which only works for ONE character on your account. The rest will be stuck at 80/100 until Monday. Too bad, the beholder convention is kind of funny, but it's something to look forward to I guess :)

at least its not the maze engine. i still havent completed that on any toon on xbox or pc. i tried hard, i just couldnt bring myself to talking to that damn dwarf again to do the same damn quest...again....

i wish the crafting was a little less annoying and confusing. i guess a lot of ppl are giving up on it, imagine that a lot of stuff in the AH is going to go up in price by a lot

I consider this is worse than mod 6 (in terms of play). Mod 6 was tough but I could play without afraid of bugging the progress.

The information of mod 6 was kind of clear. It was tough. You would die a lot. What you had no problem to kill before mod 6 would one shot you, etc.

This one has various bugs that were just bad. Pick a wrong retainer, you would have problem. There might be workaround but you need to find it, etc. The bugs are spread everywhere and not limited to new content. The information is not clear to me where I should avoid. Hence, I just play less because honestly, I don't know where is safe to play.

Mod 6 was worse, a complete disaster - however they finally listened to the player base, along with the dropping player numbers and fixed everything.. BUT
Mod 15 is just pointless, most of the people I know are just not going to bother with crafting now. Too time consuming, and seems for the most part pointless now, will miss leadership.... and most of the people I know running TR's are not happy. Be interesting to see if the players base drops like it did for Mod 6 along with reduced VIP and Zen buys.

Yes, module 6 was the absolute worse. Lost about half the player base. They quit just playing. Lost ALL but three dungeons for more than 1 year. This game has never fully recovered from that dark chapter. When I play tested M15 on preview, I felt right away it would receive a cold welcome.

The content is based around a group of DnD convention players. They have a small cult following on YouTube with games and cartoons. I don't mind humor mixed in DnD, in fact I enjoy it. But this group is 100% slap stick comedy. Now A.I. has been made canon, so no need to argue that point. But the content fails to appeal to me and I sensed it would not get the belly laughs from the typical Neverwinter players either. The content is pointless to most and the only reason for playing it out is the boons.

As for TRs, I own 2 out of my 8 characters. Only one said it needed a rebuild, so I did and she is kicking butt just fine. No complaints here on the TR nerf. While my guild mate said he will no longer play as his TR, the TR will collect holiday items instead.

As for professions revamp or whatever you call it, I never did much with professions. It was like having Farmville in the game, I quit doing professions after they shutdown the web access (Gateway). I enjoyed the Gateway because I could use my phone to do professions. I never bought the story about the Gateway shutdown for bots when there was tons inside the 3D game. I assume it was more to do with budget as they never once applied a simple CAPTCHA to login.

I am getting my jewel crafter set back up to try out the new 3D professions, but unlikely I will find the same amount of time to invest. The only reason I did any leadership was just to get Dirk his Captain title. I suppose new people won't get those titles any more, but I can't miss professions, since it has been off my agenda as of September 2016.

not only that, it also broke some old classic quests like Doomgaurd's Duty which we cant finish. i have 2 empty bags and it said inventory full, then it turn out to be that "3" quartz in chest are bugged.

Mod 6 is horrible and very hard, lot of badly gutted class rebalanced and Mod 15 is the most bug ridden and broke so many quests, and workshop need rework, not ready to go live, and it forced on us and we already hated it.
i wonder why it was allowed to go live with so many flaws, and i dont like seeing new mods get dump and "fix it later" policy. that wrong, when it get launched we expect flawless.

    I like the mod.

Could do without Illusioner's Gambit being buggy, Professions being buggy, refinable Epic Armor and Weapons not being subject to the 'convert all refineable equipment', the multiple client crashes I've had this week.

But the mod itself is okay.

edit: oh yeah, and the obvious memory leak because the client never too up 95% of my memory before this mod.

With respect to AI, I look at mod 15 as the sort of Casino Royale mod of NW (the original CR) -- turning D&D into a parody of itself. For me, it ruins the immersion of playing a heroic fantasy game. That said, having played through the entire campaign on preview, as you progress through the campaign, the missions become more like normal D&D quests and less annoying. I guess I'll just have to mute the sound through the Walt Disney World ride (boy, that one is super-cringeworthy) and hold my nose through the Getting Breakfast and House Call quests. For some reason, I enjoy the Party Crashing quest, and the ones that follow are okay. I wanted to smack Scrappy Doo at the end, though. For some reason I found him annoying as hell.

i was doing boons too, getting less play time due to uncompleteable quests. it is Alts unfriendly and bad rng and noticing higher rate of fails.
that reason why there is too much frustrations. fun factor just bleed out.

New professions is just a AD nerf/sink.... Making all our old profession items have no real value. Then remove the small amount of AD we was making from selling leadership RP. Just to start from scratch but now have a more dragged out system with little to gain without tons of time and AD invested.

Yeah, I'm not feeling it at all. I was already pretty tuned out, this just makes it worse. A self-parody of D&D is rather uninspiring to me and the profession changes just seem like a buggy, tangled pile of hamsters not worth climbing. I'm doing the campaign on one character because of my OCD, but that's about it. I've probably played a combined hour since the new mod dropped. I spent more time going through and salvaging all my extra items last Monday.

Here's to hoping Mod 16 is worth playing.

I quit after launch bc of how they handled the AD duplication bug. This is not quite that bad but OMG wow. Clearly the DEVs have no idea what the player base wants to spend their time on. Crafting as a time sink! Proven to not be a successful approach. As for the campaign, every moment I have spent in it makes me want to log off.

It is pretty obvious the majority of the effort in this mod went into the new crafting system.

If crafting is not your thing, the mod will not appeal that much to you. Peoples tastes differ.

    Can't win them all.

I beg to differ giving how many huge even gamebreaking bugs made it from preview and onto live. Bugs mind you that was discovered at the very beginning of testing, so the devs have known about them since September. Yet they're not only not fixed, the devs just shrugged and pushed the incredibly broken system onto live.
No I'm never going to be a major lover of the new profession system but if they'd actually taken the time and effort to make the damn thing function properly before launch I could live with that. As it is, between this non-functional system and the incredibly lame attempt at a campaign, this feels like they've decided to half-HAMSTER their job on all levels.

questions on many minds of players, was this intentionally done on purpose?
many of us reported, claiming it isnt ready to go live and it went as unfinished and cutted corners.
did someone got up and quit?

devs would had given us poll as part of multiple selection to give them feedback for next project, but what i see, they seem dont listen and use players as numbers.
I am not alone and really furious!

what we need, hire those guys who were in Turbinegames Inc, since Warner bros burn them and took game engine. i think they rename as "Standing Stones" and out of work, those guys are good programmers and very social with players.

I for one am glad about Mod 15 - it has officially broken my addiction and now I can go and play my insane library of purchased games which I have not yet played due to Neverwinter. C YA for Mod 16 or Mod 17 again

agree with all of this, they changed professions because, what? the 1% were making money? they still will. no the rest of us suffer. they were going to do something with the arc points, remember those? a small reward for people who had bought other cryptic titles to earn a little back. not heard anything since. the ripped the TR to bits with no real explanation. so much else got broken when it launched, despite the devs being told. (i did IG last night, what a f*** up) not going to renew my vip till i hear some fixes coming in. only the diablo immortal launch was worse so far

God, this reminds me of Windows 10 build 1809. Feedback from the insiders program told Microsoft all of the problems before they released it to the general population. And when people ran it, it deleted people's files, wireless is all messed up, zip files messed up, activations failing, etc and so on. And this is almost a month from launch after they pulled 1809 and Microsoft has been absolutely silent on anything, not answering questions, etc.

So you have Cryptic with the preview server and almost all the bugs and problems were reported on the forums. And blam, it was deployed bugs and all. And now we hear NOTHING from anyone about any bugs or feedback.

So Cryptic, you have achieved godhood. You are now as bad as Microsoft.

I bet they would love that comment. In fact, my company (a software company) would love that comment.
